The Imprisoned Labor Is Transferred to Dar-al-Quran Ward in Rajaei Shahr Prison

HRANA News Agency – Behnam Ibrahimzadeh, labor rights’ activist has been transferred to ward number 2 of Rajaei Shahr prison, which is known as Dar-al-Quran ward.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), ward number 2 of Rajaei Shahr prison which is known as Dar-al-Quran ward, is a special religious ward in which group praying and reading Quran is mandatory and different groups of prisoners including dangerous ones are kept together. Prisoners would receive some benefits like visits, furlough and pardon, in return to practicing in religious rituals.

A close source to Behnam Ibrahimzadeh told HRANA’s reporter, “Situation of Behnam in Dar-al-Quran ward is not good at all. Ritual is mandatory in this ward and religious prisoners do not have a good relationship with political prisoners. His physical condition and also his son’s disease have made the condition even worse.”

This political prisoner has served nearly five years in prison. He was first arrested in June 2010 and sentenced to five years in prison. But, after a new case was opened in January 2015, he has been sentenced to another 9 and a half-year in prison.

After the issue of the sentence, he was interrogated in ward 209 of Evin prison, and then, transferred to quarantine ward of Rajaei Shahr prison. Recently, by the decision of prison officials, he has been transferred to Dar-al-Quran ward.
