HRANA News Agency – Behnam (Asad) Ibrahimzadeh, labour activist and prisoner of Rajaei Shahr prison is serving his 6^th year in prison. His first sentence has ended long time ago, but he is serving another sentence which was issued during his imprisonment.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), the appeal court of Tehran has sentenced Behnam Ibrahimzadeh to 7 years and 10 months and 15 days in prison and 450 thousand Tomans fine. He has been charged with collusion for committing criminal acts against the national security and foreign policies. The sentence of the primary court was 9 years. It has caused a distance between the fifth and sixth vertebrae in his neck, however he is deprived of medical furlough and permission for being transferred to a hospital.

HRANA News Agency – Behnam Ibrahimzadeh, labor rights’ activist has been transferred to ward number 2 of Rajaei Shahr prison, which is known as Dar-al-Quran ward.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), ward number 2 of Rajaei Shahr prison which is known as Dar-al-Quran ward, is a special religious ward in which group praying and reading Quran is mandatory and different groups of prisoners including dangerous ones are kept together. Prisoners would receive some benefits like visits, furlough and pardon, in return to practicing in religious rituals. HRANA News Agency – After 22 days of solitary confinement in Evin prison, there is no information about Behnam Ibrahimzadeh.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Behnam Ibrahimzadeh was transferred from ward number 2 of Rajai Shahr prison to solitary confinement in ward 209 of Evin prison on January 22, and yet he did not have any phone call or visit with his family.

A close source to him told HRANA’s reporter, “Behnam’s family does not have any information regarding his status and the only response that they received from authorities was that he had been transferred to ward 209 of Evin prison and even the reason for this transfer is unknown”.

Behnam Ibrahimzadeh’s 5 year-imprisonment-sentence will be finished soon, however he has recently been sentenced to another 9 years and four months in prison, for charges related to black Thursday of ward 350 of Evin prison.

Behnam Ibrahimzdeh, labor and children’s rights activist was arrested by security forces on June 12, 2010, and was first in revolutionary court sentenced to 20 years in prison. This sentence was reduced to five years in appeal court. He is currently serving the fourth year of his sentence.
