Increasing Pressure on Christians in Iran

HRANA News Agency – The pressures have increased on religious minorities in Iran in recent months. At least 31 Christians, including 3 citizens of Azerbaijan Republic have been arrested in Isfahan, Tehran and Firoozkooh. 19 of these are under detention and the fate of 11 people is not known yet.

No Information about eleven Christian converts in Isfahan
On August 12, eleven members of a house church in Isfahan were arrested and transferred to an unknown location. The fate and whereabouts of the detainees remain unknown.
Mohammad Ilyas, Mohsen Khubyar, Edmund Khachatvryan, Mohammad Malek Khataiee, Samaneh Shahbazifar, Arash Ghodsi, Fatemeh Amini, Maryam Zenobi, Amin Ahanin, Hamid Sepidar along with another unidentified person while having gathered to worship were arrested by plainclothes security officers.
13 Christian includes three citizen citizens of Azerbaijan Republic were detained
On June 24, 2016, three Christian members of a church in Baku had been invited to a house church by a group of Christians in Tehran, all of whom were arrested by the intelligence officers.
The names of the arrested Azerbaijani citizens:
1. Bahram Nasibof Elkhanoglu, 37, Married, from Baku, citizen of Azerbaijan.
2. Yusof Farhadof Taltoglu, 52, Married, from Baku, citizen of Azerbaijan.
3. Eldar Kurbanov, 48, Married, from Baku, citizen of Azerbaijan.
At the same time a dozen Iranian Christian converts were arrested in the same house church, all of whom except one were released after questioning and taking their personal details.
No information about 5 arrested Christians
Seven Christian converts namely Ramin Bet Tamers, Amin Afshar Naderi, Hadi Asgari, Mohamad Dehnavard and Amir Saman Dashti and two other Christians who had gone to Firoozkooh with their families were detained by the Intelligence Ministry. Two of these citizens were released immediately but the whereabouts and condition of five others are unknown so far.
On August 26, Ramin Bet Tamers, Amin Afshar Naderi, Hadi Asgari, Mohamad Dehnavard and Amir Saman Dashti had gone to Firoozkooh along with their wives for fishing and picnics. Around 1:30 PM, Ministry of Intelligence agents attacked them and separated the men from women. Amin Afshar Naderi asked them for a warrant but they refused to show a warrant and beat him.
