Latif Hasani ended his hunger strike after 52 days

HRANA News Agency – Latif Hasani, political prisoner who is in Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj, stopped his hunger strike after 52 days.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Latif Hasani, went on hunger strike in Central Prison of Tabriz on Sunday 18th April to oppose against violation of political prisoners legal rights such as being kept in their home city, and also, against prisoners’ families harassment.
Later, he was transferred to quarantine in Evin prison from Tabriz Central Prison, and then he was transferred to Rajai Shahr prison, section 10. On 8th July, he passed out and was taken to the prison infirmary.
Latif Hasani stopped his hunger strike during the current day and his wife, Mrs Azam Piri, in a letter a copy of which has been provided to HRANA, noted:
Doctor Latif Hasani stopped hunger strike as he managed to achieve one of his demands.
Doctor Latif Hasani went on hunger strike from 18th April to protest against violation of political prisoners’ rights and asking to be transferred to the political prisoners’ ward in Karaj, his home city.
Eventually, on first of July he was transferred to section 10 in Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj and since then he continued hunger strike asking to be transferred to political prisoners’ ward.
One of his relatives told to HRANA’s reporter: “On 6th July, Latif Hasani passed out and he was taken to prison’s infirmary and he had to stay in the clinic for some hours. Following this condition and because one of his demands was accepted by the judicial authorities, also, A’yat Mehr Alibeiglo, another member of “Yeni Gamoh”, and his family and other civil and political activists requested, he left his hunger strike.
Latif Hasani was arrested along with Mahmoud Fazli, Shahram Radmehr, Ayat Mehralibeigloo and Behbood Gholizadeh, four other Azerbaijani activists in 2012.
These five members of the Central committee of “Yeni Gamoh” are each sentenced to 9 years imprisonment.
