Ministry of Interior should co-operate for Sunnis’ Eid prayer

HRANA News Agency – During this week’s Friday prayers ceremony, Sunni Khateeb of Azad-shahr, Maulana Muhammad Hussein Gorgij requested that the Interior Ministry provides the facilities for holding the Eid-e-Ghorban’s pray to Sunni Muslims around the country. He recommended the Interior Ministry avoids unprofessional approach and disrupting the worship ceremony of Sunnis.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), while “Sheykh Altafsir” Maulana Muhammad Hussein Gorgij, expressed his satisfaction about the designation of prayer area (Mosala) to Sunnis in Zahedan, he appreciated “Government of Prudence and Hope” and requested further co-operation. He demanded that government provides designated space for religious ceremonies and facilities for building mosques to Sunnis in other parts of the country. He also requested that government refrain from improper and preferential approach towards Eid-e-Ghorban’s pray and ceremony.

Considering the start of Eid-e-Ghorban and previous years issues in holding the Eid-e-Ghorban’s prayer for Sunnis , Director “Darul Farvqyh Galyksh” demanded co-operation of the Interior Ministry , County Council and security forces in holding the Eid-e-Ghorban’s pray  around the country . He also demanded designated spaces for Sunni prayers.

Sunni Khateeb of Azad-shahr, emphasised that holding their own Eid-e-Ghorban’s pray is the indisputable right of Sunni citizens: “….we, Sunni citizens, requesting from Interior Ministry, County Council, Governors and security forces around the country to show the utmost co-operation with their Sunni brothers (although they are a minority), to provide them with facilities, to avoid preferential approach and not to stop the Sunnis’ Eid-e-Ghorban’s prayer. Holding the Eid-e-Ghorban’s prayer is the indisputable right of Sunni citizens and if there is a need for Sunnis to a prayer space at any city, they should be provided.”

Whilst he criticized previous years’ preferential approach, he mentioned: “Unfortunately, for the last couple of years, Eid-e-Ghorban’s prayer was stopped at cities with Sunni population. No afghan immigrant or Sunni citizen should be prevented from the payer. Hence, we request the high rank authorities to be helpful to their Sunni brothers in holding the religious ceremonies and to provide them with the required facilities.”
