Reza Samie Monfared on the 8th Day of Hunger Strike in Evin Prison

HRANA News Agency – After being on hunger strike for 7 days in Evin prison, the prison officials have not yet responded to Reza Samie Monfared’s demands. An informed source said that due to illness and physical problems, the continuation of his hunger strike might cause a lot of problems for him.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Reza Samie Monfared has declared a hunger strike in 7th ward of Evin prison due to lack of medical treatment, lack of medical furlough and failure to respond to his letters on February 22.
The prisoner has announced his hunger strike in an official letter to prison officials.
Reza Samie Monfared, former special inspector was arrested and sentenced to five years in prison on charges of communicating with enemy states.
Close sources to with him said that he was arrested and sentenced because of exposing the corruption of 3 trillion. HRANA can neither confirm nor reject this independently.
The prisoner needs the medical care due to suffering from disc herniation and is eligible for parole after serving 1/3 of the sentence.
He spent about three years of his five-year sentence and the authorities have not responded to his request of furlough, despite the repeated requests.
Reza Samie Monfared was arrested in 2013 and after spending four months in solitary confinement in ward 240 of Evin prison was transferred to ward 350 of Evin prison and then to ward 7.
