A Brief Report about the Panel on Human Rights in Iran; Canadian Senate

HRANA News Agency – There was a research panel with 9 Canadian Senators’ speech, and Iranian guests and international human rights figures, held for three days in Canadian Senate, from May 10th. This is a short report of this meeting.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), from May 10th, in the Canadian Senate a research panel was held for 3 days, with presentations from nine Canadian Senators, including Linda Frum, Daniel Lang, James Cowan, Salma Ataullah Jan, Raynell Andreychuk, Senator Lynn Beyak, Norman Doyle, Joan Fraser and Stephen Green as well as Iranian guests and international human rights figures. UN Human Rights Council Extended Ahmed Shaheed’s Mandate

HRANA News Agency – The United Nations Human Rights Council, by 20 votes in favor, 15 against and 11 abstentions, extended the mandate of the special rapporteur for Human Rights in Iran for one more year.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), the resolution on the human rights situation in Iran “L. 27” adopted at a meeting of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva and the mandate of Ahmed Shaheed was extended for one more year. (more…)

34 Human Rights Organizations Call for Extension of Ahmed Shaheed’s Mandate

HRANA News Agency – 34 human rights organizations called on the member states of the UN Human Rights Council to extend the mission of Ahmed Shaheed to defend human rights in Iran.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), along with the 31st session of the UN Human Rights Council, 34 nongovernmental organization asked the member states to extend the mission of UN special rapporteur on Human Rights in Iran. (more…)

Highest Number of Executions in Recent 10 Years in Iran: UN

HRANA News Agency – Ahmed Shaheed, the United Nations (UN) Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in the Islamic Republic of Iran, in his eleventh report to the UN human rights council, announced: “in 2015 Islamic republic of Iran have had the highest number of executions within the past 10 years.”

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), the United Nations (UN) Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in the Islamic Republic of Iran in the 31st session of the UN human rights council meeting, has announced that “the human right organizations that are following the executions in Islamic Republic of Iran, have estimated the number of executions in Iran to have been between 966 to 1054 within 2015, which is the highest number of executions in the past decade.” (more…)

UN Expert Calls for an Immediate Moratorium after Iran Hands Down Death Penalty to a Prisoner of Conscience

HRANA News Agency – The United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran, Ahmed Shaheed, yesterday urged the Iranian authorities to immediately commute the death penalty recently handed down to Mohammad Ali Tehari, a well-known author of alternative medical theories practiced in Iran and abroad, and founder ofErfan-e-Halgheh (Inter-Universalism), an arts and culture institute in Tehran which promoted healing concepts.

Mr. Taheri was reportedly sentenced to death on 1 August on charges of ‘Fisad-fil-Arz’ (‘Corruption on Earth’), while he was serving a five year sentence. He was arrested in May 2011 and sentenced to five years in prison for insulting Islamic sanctities. (more…)

European Parliament urges Iranian authorities to stop human rights violations

HRANA News Agency – The Iranian blogger Sattar Behesht was arrested and tortured to death by Iran’s cyber-police known also as Fata. Sattar Behesht had been accused that he was acting against the national security. The European Parliament published yesterday a new resolution on human rights situation in Iran.

Iran: 23 executions in two days

HRANA News Agency – Seven men were executed in Shiraz on Thursday, November 8, 2012, five of them publicly. 16 executions in different cities of Iran, the day before.

According to the reports by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Iranian regime hanged 23 men within two days. Seven men were executed in Shiraz on Thursday, November 8, 2012, five of them publicly. 16 executions in different cities of Iran, the day before: 10 men were executed in Evin prison, four men publicly in Shiraz and one in Kerman and one in Mashhad.

HRANA News Agency –  United Nations:  Human rights activists in Iran are subjected to beatings with batons, mock hangings, rape, sleep deprivation, and threats that family members will be raped or killed, about 670 people were executed in Iran in 2011, 223 People in First Five Months of 2012. the UN rights investigator said in a report released on Thursday.
