HRANA – At least 10 Sunni citizens residing in Ahvaz, have been in detention for 12 days. Several of these individuals have been transferred to the quarantine ward of Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz, while others are being held at the Ministry of Intelligence’s detention facility in the city.
According to HRANA, 10 Sunni citizens in Ahvaz, including Majid Sharifi (Savari), Arkan Sharifi (Savari), 17, Razi Heydari, Hossein Heydari, Abdolhadi Asakereh, Lafteh Heydari, Hamzeh Sayahi, and Mohammad Savari, remain in detention.
According to information received by HRANA, Majid Sharifi (Savari), 44, remains held at the Ministry of Intelligence’s detention facility in Ahvaz. The other seven identified detainees have been transferred to the quarantine ward of Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz. Majid Sharifi suffers from kidney failure, and reports received by HRANA indicate that he is in poor physical condition. Given his underlying medical condition, his continued detention at the Ministry of Intelligence’s detention facility has raised concerns among his relatives about his health.
These citizens were arrested on September 4, 2026, by Ministry of Intelligence agents at Majid Sharifi’s home in the Kuy-e Mashali neighborhood of Ahvaz. The arrests were carried out without the presentation of a judicial warrant and were accompanied by physical violence.
According to information received by HRANA, the citizens had gathered at the home of one of their friends for a meeting when intelligence forces surrounded the location, entered the residence, and arrested at least 10 people who were present. Some of the citizens were beaten during the arrests. The attendees’ mobile phones were also confiscated, and Mr. Sharifi’s personal vehicle remains impounded.
In addition to the identification of Hamzeh Sayahi, 34, and Mohammad Savari, HRANA had previously confirmed the identities of Abdolmajid (Majid) Sharifi, 44, and his teenage son, Arkan Sharifi, 17; Lafteh Heydari, 36; Razi Heydari, 50; Hossein Heydari, 29; and Abdolhadi Asakereh, 30.
These citizens are residents of the Kuy-e Mashali and Akhar Asfalt areas of Ahvaz.
As of the time of this report, the identities of the other detainees have not been confirmed, and no information has been obtained regarding the charges brought against these citizens.
