Four Inmates Executed in Qom, Sari and Shiraz

In recent days, four inmates were executed in Qom, Sari and Shiraz for murder and drug-related crimes.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, last Wednesday, July 6, 2022, an inmate identified as Mehdi Karimi was executed in Sari prison in Mazandaran Province. He had been convicted of murder and was a barber before the arrest.

Moreover, according to Haal Vsh and Iran Human Rights Organization, on Saturday, July 9, 2022, two inmates convicted of drug-related crimes were executed in Qom Prison. These individuals were identified as Mehrollah Rigi, age 42, and Abolfazl Rahmani, age 38.

Iran Human Rights Organization also reported the execution of an inmate identified as Fardin Zekri, age 34, in Adel-Abad Prison in Shiraz. Zekri was arrested about a year ago and accused of murder.

None of these executions have been reported by the official sources and media outlets inside Iran so far. 

The most recent report from the Statistics and Publication Center of the Human Rights Activists in Iran (HRA) states that between January 1 of 2021 and December 20 of 2021, at least 299 citizens, including four juvenile offenders, were executed. In addition, 85 citizens were sentenced to death in this period. 

As the report points out, Iran’s judicial authorities do not publicly announce over 88% of executions. These unreported executions are known as “secret executions” by human rights organizations.

Mohammad Bagher Moradi is sentenced to 5 years of prison

HRANA News Agency – Mohammad Bagher Moradi, a member of Saraye Ahle Ghalam has been sentenced to 5 years of prison.

 

According to a report by the committee of human rights reporters, after being summoned by a telephone call to the branch 26 of the revolutionary court of Tehran, Judge Pir Abbasi has sentenced Mohammad Bagher Moradi to 5 years of prison on charge of colluding and gathering to act against the national security.
