Two Members of the Iranian Teachers’ Union Arrested in Yazd

HRANA –The arrests of union activists continue with the arrests of Mohammad Ali Shirazi and Mohammad Ali Shahedi, two members of the Board of Directors of the Teachers’ Union in Yazd.

Based on information received by HRANA, Mr. Shirazi was summoned to the Intelligence Ministry on May 23, 2010, for questioning. He was arrested after several

agents escorted him to his home and confiscated a number of his personal belonging s.

 

 

Similarly, Mohammad Ali Shahedi was also arrested after being summoned by the Security Police on Wednesday, May 26th.

 

 

 

 

 

 

With the arrests of these two activists, the number of teachers currently in prison has reached 12.

 

 

 

 

 

Ali Akbar Baghani, Mahmood Beheshti, Rasool Bodaghi, Ali Reza Hashemi, Esmaeel Abdi, Hashem Khastar, Abdollah Momeni, Mohammad Davari, Bahman Nasirzadeh, and Abrolreza Ghanbari are among the imprisoned teachers. Mr. Ghanbari is a teacher from Pakdasht and has been sentenced to execution.

 

 

 

 

 

It is important to note that Mr. Farzad Kamangar, who was executed on May 9th, was a teacher from Kamiaran and a member of the Teachers’ Union in Kurdestan.
