Zahra Zehtabchi In The Second Year Of Imprisonment Without Furlough

HRANA News Agency – Zahra Zehtabchi, political prisoner in the women’s ward of Evin prison, after about two years of imprisonment, still has not been sent on leave and the prison authorities and the prosecutor do not agree to send her on leave.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), after about two years of arrest and imprisonment of Zahra Zehtabchi, political prisoner in the women’s ward of Evin prison, she has not been sent on leave and the prison authorities and the prosecutor reject to send her on leave.

Zahra Zehtabchi, born in 1969, MSc in Sociology from the University of Shahid Beheshti and social science researcher, was arrested along with her husband, her sister and 20-year-old daughter, on 16th October 2013. Zahra Zehtabchi’s husband (doctor Seyed Javad Khosh Neiat), for 22 days, Narges Khosh Neiat, daughter of Zahra Zehtabchi, for 24 hours and Faezeh Zehtabchi, sister of Zahra for a week, were held under detention.

Zahra Zehtabchi was held in ward 209 in Evin prison for 14 months after her arrest, and then she was transferred to women’s ward in Evin prison.

This political prisoner who has lost a number of her family members in 1980’s on charges of supporting and active contributing to the goals of MEK was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment by Branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court, presided by judge Salvati, and the sentence was confirmed precisely by the Court of Appeal.
