Amir Ebrahimlou and Soheil Daeiri Arrested by Security Forces

HRANA News Agency – Today, Amir Ebrahimlou and Soheil Daeiri, two Azerbaijani-Turk activists, were arrested by security forces and taken to an undisclosed location.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists in Iran, their arrest took place today, Monday, March 24, 2025, by security forces. As of the time of this report, no information is available regarding the reasons for their arrest, their whereabouts, or the charges brought against them.

Amir Ebrahimlou has previously faced security-related actions due to his activism.

In 2024, HRA documented the arrests of 262 individuals from ethnic minority groups or those advocating for ethnic minority rights, including Azerbaijani-Turk activists.

Teacher’s Union Activist Kobra Taherkhani Sentenced to Prison

HRANA News Agency – Kobra (Pari) Taherkhani, a teachers’ union activist in Qazvin, has been sentenced by Branch 2 of the Qazvin Revolutionary Court to three years in prison and a three-year travel ban.

According to the Coordinating Council of Iranian Teachers’ Trade Associations, the verdict was issued on March 16, 2025, and formally communicated to Ms. Taherkhani. She received two years in prison for insulting the Supreme Leader and one year for propaganda against the regime. Additionally, she was sentenced to a three-year travel ban as a supplementary punishment.

The charges against Ms. Taherkhani were partly based on content published on her Instagram page.

Earlier, on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, she was summoned for interrogation at Branch 1 of the Qazvin Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office. After being formally charged, she was released on bail.

Prior to that, on December 2, 2024, IRGC Intelligence agents raided her home in Qazvin, interrogated her for several hours, and confiscated her mobile phone and laptop.

Kobra (Pari) Taherkhani is a teachers’ union activist with 26 years of experience and currently serves as the principal of a lower secondary school in Qazvin Province.

Report on the Execution of a Prisoner in Dorud Prison

HRANA News Agency – The death sentence of a prisoner previously convicted of murder was carried out in Dorud Prison, Lorestan province, on March 13, 2025.

The identity of this prisoner has been confirmed by HRANA as Ahmad Yarmohammadi.
Based on information received by HRANA, Mr. Yarmohammadi had been arrested earlier on charges of murder and was subsequently sentenced to death by the criminal court.

As of the time of this report, the execution of this prisoner has not been officially announced by prison authorities or relevant institutions.

In 2024, the Department of Statistics and Publication of Human Rights Activists in Iran documented 812 cases related to the right to life, including the sentencing of 214 individuals to death and the execution of 930 individuals. Among these, 4 executions were carried out in public. Of those executed, 818 were male, 26 were female, and 5 were juvenile offenders—individuals under 18 years old at the time of their alleged crimes.

Mohammad Amouri Sentenced to One Year in Prison on Political Charges

HRANA News Agency –The Revolutionary Court of Ahvaz has sentenced Mohammad Amouri, a citizen held in Sheiban Prison, to one year in prison.

Based on the verdict issued by the Ahvaz Revolutionary Court and communicated to Mr. Amouri, he has been sentenced to one year in prison on the charge of propaganda against the regime, with time spent in detention counted toward the sentence.

On January 8, 2025, Mohammad Amouri was arrested by agents of the Ministry of Intelligence in Ramhormoz and transferred to The Ministry of Intelligence’s detention facility. He was eventually moved to Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz.

Mohammad Amouri is a 27-year-old citizen from Ramshir, Khuzestan Province.

Naser Akbari and Taleb Bagheri Sentenced to Imprisonment and Fines on Political Charges

HRANA News Agency – The Shahin Dezh Criminal Court has sentenced two citizens, Naser Akbari and Taleb Bagheri, to 21 months of imprisonment each, in addition to monetary fines, on political charges.

According to the verdict issued by Branch 101 of the Shahin Dezh Criminal Court on March 13, 2025, both individuals were sentenced to 7 months and 16 days in prison for “propaganda against the regime” and 13 months and 17 days in prison along with a fine of 28,400,000 tomans for “spreading falsehoods online with the intent to disturb public opinion.”

The court issued the verdict against Mr. Bagheri in absentia due to his failure to appear at the hearing.

Naser Akbari, a resident of Shahin Dezh, was arrested by security forces on October 12, 2023. After four months in detention, he was released on bail. Mr. Akbari has a prior record of arrest and conviction related to his activities.

Taleb Bagheri is a resident of Parsian County in Hormozgan Province.

A Citizen Arrested by Security Forces in Sarbaz County

HRANA News Agency – Today, Friday, March 21, Balal Irandoost, a resident of Sarbaz County, was arrested by agents of The Ministry of Intelligence and taken to an undisclosed location.

According to HRANA, quoting Rasank News, the individual has been identified as Balal Irandoost, approximately 30 years old, and a resident of Sarbaz County, Sistan and Baluchestan province.

According to the report, Mr. Irandoost was arrested by The Ministry of Intelligence agents while driving on the Sarbaz-Rask road and transferred to an unknown location.

The reasons for his arrest and the charges against him remain unknown.

Ongoing Detention of Political Prisoner Mahnaz Tarah in Evin Prison

HRANA News Agency – Mahnaz Tarah, a political prisoner, is currently serving the 16th month of her sentence in Evin Prison. Recently, her request for furlough was denied.

A source close to her family confirmed the news to HRANA, stating that her recent furlough request was rejected following interference from the IRGC Intelligence Organization. An agent named Esmail Shafiee, affiliated with IRGC Intelligence, is directly in charge of Ms. Tarah’s case.

In January of this year, Mahnaz Tarah’s request for a retrial was denied by Branch 9 of the Supreme Court, presided over by Judge Ghasem Mazinani. Earlier, in November, 2024, her request for conditional release had also been rejected by the IRGC Intelligence.

Mahnaz Tarah was violently arrested by security forces on November 13, 2023, on a street in Tehran. She was eventually transferred from the Ministry of Intelligence’s detention facility, known as Ward 209 of Evin Prison, to the public ward of the prison on November 23 of the same year.

In January of 2024, she was sentenced by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Iman Afshari, to three years and eight months in prison for “assembly and collusion to act against national security” and eight months for “propaganda against the regime.” Her sentence was reduced to two years and nine months following a plea of no contest.

Mahnaz Tarah has had previous encounters with judicial and security authorities.

French Citizen Olivier Grondeau Released After 887 Days in Iranian Prison

HRANA – French President Emmanuel Macron has announced the release of Olivier Grondeau, a French citizen who had been imprisoned in Iran. Grondeau has now returned safely to France.

According to HRANA, quoting Iran newspaper, Grondeau’s release was confirmed earlier today. President Macron welcomed his return and reaffirmed France’s commitment to defending its citizens.

Meanwhile, the French Foreign Minister revealed that Grondeau spent 887 days in Iranian prisons.

Olivier Grondeau was arrested in October 2022 in Shiraz and later sentenced to five years in prison on national security-related charges. His family has repeatedly rejected these accusations, emphasizing that Grondeau traveled to Iran on a tourist visa due to his passion for Persian poetry.

Christian Convert Amirali Minaei Beaten by Prison Guard in Evin

HRANA News Agency – Amirali Minaei, a Christian convert currently serving his prison sentence in Evin Prison, was recently assaulted by one of the prison guards. Following the incident, Mr. Minaei experienced chest pain and heart-related issues but has been denied proper medical care.

Based on a report of Article 18, Mr. Minaei was recently beaten by a guard named Mehdi Salim. The guard directly struck Mr. Minaei’s chest and heart area. Despite his deteriorating condition, the authorities prevented his transfer to the prison clinic or examination by a cardiologist.

Mr. Minaei, who suffers from heart problems, was under a doctor’s care before his imprisonment. However, since the start of his sentence, all his requests for medical visits or referral to a specialist have been repeatedly denied.

Amirali Minaei, a 31-year-old Christian convert, was arrested by security forces in Tehran on December 7, 2023. He was later released on bail set at 600 million tomans.

In March 2024, he was sentenced to 3 years and 7 months of discretionary imprisonment and deprivation of social rights on charges of propaganda against the regime through his activities and establishing a house church.

On April 29, 2024, Mr. Minaei was transferred to Ward 8 of Evin Prison to begin serving his sentence.

Scholar of Mysticism Hamidreza Moraveji Sabzevari Detained by Security Forces in Sabzevar

HRANA News Agency – Hamidreza Moraveji Sabzevari, a scholar and researcher in the field of mysticism, has been detained by security forces in Sabzevar for the past nine days. His whereabouts remain unknown, raising serious concerns among his family and those close to him.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists in Iran, Mr. Moraveji Sabzevari was arrested on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at his private residence by security forces and transferred to an undisclosed location. Since his arrest, there has been no information regarding his condition or place of detention.

Some state-affiliated media outlets have reported the charges against him as “encouraging people to corruption and conducting educational and promotional activities contrary to the sacred principles of Islam.”

Hamidreza Moraveji Sabzevari is a prominent researcher in the field of mysticism. Over the years, he has conducted more than two thousand sessions dedicated to the interpretation and analysis of the Quran, Rumi’s Masnavi, Attar’s Conference of the Birds, Hafez’s Ghazals, and other mystical texts.
