Nine Political Prisoners on Hunger Strike in Yazd Prison

HRANA News Agency – On Tuesday, November 22, 2011, nine political prisoners in Yazd Prison began their hunger strike to protest against being locked up together with ordinary inmates and also the inappropriate behavior of prison officials towards political prisoners.

Norooz News has released the names of political prisoners who are currently on hunger strike in Yazd Prison:

1.Khales Zamani (son of Yusuf)
2.Abdolsaleh Osmani (son of Solieman)
3.Abdolrahman Jangali (son of Abdullah)
4.Ali Salehi (son of Mohammad)
5.Omar Imami (son of Hassan)
6.Mohammad Moradi (son of Abdullah)
7.Hani Bani (son of Sal and an Arab)
8.Rostam Arkia
9.Vali Doroodi (son of Anvar)

Ahl-e Haqq’s Shrine in Kermanshah Destroyed

HRANA News Agency – Last week, Iranian security forces destroyed the shrine of a religious minority commonly known as Ahl-e Haqq (Yarsan).The construction of this shrine was not yet complete when it was demolished.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Sayed Farokh Shrine is located in the village of Khobyaran Jalalvand in Kermanshah Province.At the time of its destruction, local residents had financed a reconstruction project to repair it.

Eyewitnesses have reported that the police refused to show a permit for the destruction of the shrine although the residents of Khobyaran asked to see the court order.

The rural district of Jalalvand consists of 55 villages.The vast majority of residents in these villages are the followers of Ahl-e Haqq.In recent years, Iranian government has pressured Jalalvand’s residents to denounce their faith.

 

Civil Rights Activists in Salmas Were Released on Heavy Bail

HRANA News Agency – Several activists who were arrested recently in Salmas County [West Azarbaijan Province of Iran] have been released on bail.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), following the recent arrests in Salmas, the bail for Saleh Jahangiri and Mostafa Jahangiri was set at approximately $20,000 each.  Farzande Panirak’s bail was about $40,000.  The bail for Mohammad Atmani-Baheek and Amir Shahrvand-Tehrani was around $10,000 apiece.  Three members of the Christian community in Karaj, Saleh Jahangirzadh, Hamid Najafe and his wife, Mahzr Najafe, were also released temporarily after each posted a $15,000 bail.

Probable Death Sentence for Dutch-Iranian Citizen

HRANA- The chief judge of the 15th Circuit of the Revolutionary Court, Judge Salavati, is expected to sentence a Dutch-Iranian citizen to death.  He has handed down numerous death sentences for those arrested during the events surrounding the 2009 elections.
According to the Human Rights and Democracy Activists weblog, forty five year old Zahra Bahrami an Iranian born Dutch citizen was arrested during the Ashura protests of December 27, 2009.
Zahra Bahrami spent eight months in solitary confinement in ward 209 of Evin Prison and was denied access to a lawyer.  She objected to not having access to a lawyer while in court on Monday August 16, 2010.

HRANA News Agency – According to a report by the HRA’s Institute of Statistics and Publications, from 10th October 2011 until today, 488 people were executed in Iran. Meanwhile, 333 were sentenced to death and waiting for their executions.

Hussein Ronaghi Malaki Suffers Internal Bleeding

HRANA News Agency – Hussein Ronaghi Malaki, a political prisoner locked up in Evin, has suffered internal bleeding, and his condition is deteriorating fast.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Hussein Ronaghi Malaki’s health is worsening as he is denied proper medical care in prison.Meanwhile Malaki has suffered internal bleeding indicated by the presence of blood in his urine.

This political prisoner has recently undergone another kidney operation for the third time.Physicians have recommended furlough for him in order to receive proper medical care.However, Iranian authorities have refused to release him temporarily and transferred him back to Evin Prison following his most recent surgery.

Delayed medical care and appalling prison conditions are responsible for Malaki’s deteriorating health and might cost this political prisoner his life.

Four Year Prison Sentence Upheld for Baha’i Citizen Houshang Fanaian

HRANA News Agency – The Appeals Court has upheld a four-year prison sentence issued for Houshang Fanaian, a Baha’i citizen from the city of Amol in Mazandaran Province.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Houshang Fanaian has been locked up in Amol Prison for more than four months.Recently, on charges of attending a special Baha’i religious ceremony and membership in a Baha’i social group, he was sentenced to 3 years in prison.Additionally, Houshang Fanaian was convicted of acting against national security through his membership in Facebook and sentenced to one year in prison.

The Appeals Court, however, overturned a six month prison term issued by the lower court for insulting the Supreme Leader of Iran.

The decision by the Appeals Court was issued within two days after the request for review was filed.Although Houshang Fanaian’s attorney, Abdolfattah Soltani, had also asked to meet with the judge assigned to review the case, the Appeals Court denied this request and announced the verdict in absentia.

 

Three young Balouchis are facing execution

HRANA – Three young  Balouchis named:  Nasser Shahbakhsh,  Khan La’al Mohammad Shahbakhsh  and   Khaled Shahbkash who haved   beed  arrested and charged with having connections with an  armed political group, are  facing executions.
According to HRANA,  reporting from “Balouchestan Human Rights Activists”  these  individuals, mainly having been related with “Jaaj Khodabakhsh   Shahbakhs, ” the leader  of an  armed  political group opposed to the regime, who was detained six  months ago, are  facing executions.  Following repeated struggles, Nasser’s  family  have been able to visit  with him in jail,  and found him  in  a very grave conditifon.

Police Violently Attack the Families of Political Prisoners

HRANA- State security forces threatened the families of political prisoners on hunger strike in Evin Prison for the last ten days with arrest and prevented them from gathering in front of Tehran’s judiciary.

Kalame reports that anti-riot police attacked the families gathering in front of the main door of Tehran’s judiciary with batons. They forcefully confiscated pictures of the political prisoners, tearing them to pieces and verbally abusing the mothers of the prisoners.
