Iran: 12 prisoners Hanged | 70 Executions from the First of 2013

HRANA News Agency – 12 prisoners hanged within last two days, one of them publicly.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), 12 prisoners were hanged in Kermanshah, Shiraz and Arak within last two days. One of them was executed in Arak publicly.

Eight prisoners convicted of drug trafficking were hanged in Adel Abad Prison of Shiraz on Tuesday, February 19, 2013.

Three prisoners convicted of drug trafficking were hanged in Kermanshah on Wednesday, February 20, 2013.

One prisoner convicted of rape was hanged publicly in Arak on Wednesday, February 20, 2013.

According to the HRA’s statistic department, there have been executed 70 prisoners in Iran from the first of 2013.

 

A Kurd who sentenced to death transferred to Oroumiyeh prison

HRANA News Agency – Saman Nasim, the political prisoner who sentenced to death who was imprisoned in Mahabad prison, has been transferred on Saturday February 17th of 2013 to Oroumiyeh prison.
According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Saman Nasim, a Kurd from Marivan arrested in July of 2011 and sentenced to death by Mahabad revolutionary court.
There is no news why this political prison transferred to Oroumiyeh prison.
Saman Nasim’s trial was in branch 1 of Mahabad revolutionary court and sentenced to death on charge of enmity against god by membership in one of the subversives Kurdish political parties.

No news from arrested Journalist after one week

HRANA News Agency– It is more than one week without any news from Sasan Aghaie the arrested journalist who has been banned to have visitor.

Sasan Aghaie arrested by the invasion of the security forces on January 27th of 2013 at E’temad newspaper office. Since a week ago he had not exchanged any call with family and when his family tried to visit him on February 8th of 2013, the prison officials said that Sasan is banned to have visitor.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA),  quoted from Advar News, the last call between Sasan Aghaie and his family exchanged last Monday and since that time there is no news about Sasan’s condition which worried his family too much.

Issuing impossible bail and depriving of university exams for Abolfazl Abedini

HRANA News Agency– Officials issued 900 million tomans bail for Abolfazl Abedini’s medical furlough and prevented him to take his university exams.
According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), judiciary officials issued a 900 million tomans bail for Abolfazl Abedini Nasr’s medical furlough.
Abolfazl Abedini Nasr, the journalist and one of the ex-administrators of Human Rights Activists group in Iran who sentenced to 12 years imprisonment is suffering of heart disease and now that he granted for medical furlough the officials asked a 900 million tomans bail which is canceling the medical furlough practically.
He already passed 3 years of 12 years imprisonment and the officials in a rare act issued 100 million tomans bail for each year of left imprisonment period.
“Officials canceled his university exams and Abedini with 14 more prisoners deprived of taking the university exams”, one of his relatives said to HRANA reporter.
“The prison officials have not given any clarification about this decision which is illegal according to the internal regulations of prisons.”, He added.
Abolfazl Abedini sentenced to 11 years imprisonment in March 2010 by branch one of Ahwaz revolutionary court. His verdict delivered to his lawyer, Mohammad Oliaie Fard, and while he had two weeks to appeal it, in les than one week the branch 11 of provincial appealed confirmed the verdict.
The judiciary officials were not been satisfied by the verdict and in April 2011 by a new dossier sentenced Abolfazl Abedini to 1 year imprisonment on charge of propaganda against regime.
This human rights activist arrested at his home by invasion of more than armed security forces on March 1st of 2011 through the intelligence department scenario against human rights activists.
He has been tortured and traumatized during his detention in islamic revolutionary guards ward 2 and hospitalized at clinic of Evin prison many times as one of the consequences of tortures on him.
 

Master degree student has been fired from Allameh Tabatabaie university

HRANA News Agency – Etela’at ministry of Iranian islamic government prevented of a Kurdish student of business management faculty to continue his studies.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Hiwa Tasseh, the student of Allameh Tabatabaie university in a phone call informed Kurdpa news agency that “Etela’at prevented my study continuation for the second time.”

HRANA News Agency –  A notice about confiscating the bail of Khosro Arasteh who was one of the injured and detainees of the protests after the election of 2009, has delivered to his family.
According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), on Saturday, January 5th, a notice has been delivered to Khosro Arasteh’s family that if he won’t be present at revolutionary court of Karaj, the bail will be confiscated.

IRAN: Threats against media workers and families show regime’s true face

Reporters Without Borders once again expresses its grave concern at the arbitrary arrests of journalists and netizens and the threats made against the families of foreigners and Iranians working for media organizations in Iran.

In the past three years, the press freedom organization has recorded a dozen arrests and instances of threats against the families of journalists working for foreign-based organizations and international news agencies.

Labor activist allowed furlough, ends prison hunger strike

HRANA News Agency – Iranian labor activist Reza Shahabi was given a five-day medical leave by Evin Prison authorities and has ended his hunger strike after 23 days.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), the executive member of the Tehran transit drivers union was released late on the night of Monday January 7.

The Mourning Ceremony of Nasrin Sotoudeh’s Mother Canceled

HRANA News Agency – The mourning   ceremony of Safoura Fakhrian, Nasrin Sotoudeh’s Mother was canceled by   authorities.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), at first, this ceremony was scheduled to be held at Nour Mosque, Tehran. But they were told authorities had contacted it’s better not to held it there, because it may become a political gathering.
Then, this ceremony was scheduled to be held at Rasoul Mosque in Kaj Sq.

Reza Khandan, Nasrin’s husband informed on his facebook that this ceremony is canceled at all.

He wrote: “Unfortunately, the ceremony is banned at Rasoul Mosque too. So there is no opportunity to hold the ceremony at all and we apologize those who were scheduled to attend the ceremony.”

 

Jailed Iran rights lawyer ends hunger strike

HRANA News Agency – Jailed Iranian human rights lawyer Nasrin Sotoudeh has ended a hunger strike in Tehran’s notorious Evin prison after 49 days.
According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), the internationally recognised Sotoudeh, 47, ended her protest yesterday after two lawmakers took steps to have authorities lift restrictions and harassment directed at her family.
