Imprisoned Since 2000 Days; Abdulfattah Soltani

HRANA News Agency – Abdulfattah Solatni, lawyer and human rights activist who has been in prison since 2011, has been diagnosed with different diseases like acute neurological diseases, colitis and fluctuation in blood pressure. Mr. Soltani who has passed his 2000th day of imprisonment, faces rejection of his parole.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Abdulfattah Soltani, is one of the human rights lawyers. He was arrested on September 10, 2011, and sentenced to 18 years of imprisonment and 20 years deprivation of working as an attorney, for being the winner of human rights prize of Nuremburg, having interviews with foreign media about his clients’ cases, and partnership in funding the association of human rights defenders of Iran. Esmail Abdi and Yusuf Emadi Transferred to Ward 350 of Evin Prison

HRANA News Agency – Esmail Abdi, teachers’ union activist and Yusuf Emadi, artist, both prisoners in ward 7 of Evin prison, were transferred to ward 350 of Evin prison.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Esmail Abdi, the Board member of ITTA of Tehran, and Yusuf Emadi, composer and Setar player, two prisoners in ward 7 of Evin prison, were transferred to ward 350 of Evin prison, without “prior notice and the prosecutor’s order”, on March 1, 2017. Arash Sadeghi; Still in a Critical Health Condition

HRANA News Agency – The physical condition of Arash Sadeghi, civil rights activist in ward 350 of Evin prison, is still critical. Mr. Sadeghi is not able to eat solid food because of the development of ulcers and stomach bleeding and there is no food at the buffet of this ward, which is good for his physical condition. This prisoner suffers from chronic inflammatory diseases of the airways (asthma), bleeding in the stomach and intestinal colitis, due to a long-term hunger strike and lack of hospital treatment, and he is still deprived of medical treatment because of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards representative’s objection. On the other hand, Mr. Sadeghi and his wife, who is in the women’s ward in this prison, are both deprived of visiting each other.

Ali Moezi Transferred to Evin Prison

HRANA News Agency – Ali Moezi, political prisoner had been transferred to an unknown location, less than two months ago during a meeting with his family in the Visiting Room in Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj. Now, it has been specified that Mr. Moezi is held in ward 209, for his new case which will be treated in Branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court in Tehran.

Rubin Shahini on Hunger Strike in Gorgan Prison

HRANA News Agency – Gholam Reza (Rubin) Shahini, Iranian-American citizen detained in Gorgan prison, after being beaten and insulted by prison guards, has gone on hunger strike, and was transferred to solitary confinement, since February 14, 2017. This prisoners who has got severe “weight loss”, has been transferred to quarantine ward of this prison, due to kidney problems caused by the hunger strike and has been twice transferred to the prison’s clinic. Gorgan prison authorities not only ignore his demands but also have put pressure on him and threatened him to end his hunger strike.

The ‘Bloody Ring’ of Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj

HRANA News Agency – At least two of the prisoners of ward 6 in Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj, committed suicide, to protest at being exiled to Hall 11 of ward 4, known as the “Bloody Ring.” The term in this prison refers to the halls which are used by prison officials to put those who have problems with each other or mafia gangs within the prison, and are created and managed for clearing between prisoners. Recently, at least six other prisoners in similar protests committed suicide or self-mutilation.
An informed source, regarding the condition of Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj told HRANA’s reporter: “When the transfer order was issued, Navid Yaghmai tried to protest against that by cutting his hand to committee suicide, and Amir Nemati known as A’del, also committed self-mutilation to avoid going there and gave ultimatum that if they would transfer him he would commit suicide, but “Hassan Kurd”, head of the ward 6, and head of the Rajai Shahr prison’s security, threatened him and took him and transferred him by force.” Continue reading “The ‘Bloody Ring’ of Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj”

Political Prisoners in Evin Prison Beaten by Other Prisoners

HRANA News Agency – Kayvan Karimi, famous filmmaker who is imprisoned in ward number 8 of Evin prison, was beaten by some other prisoners with general charges, without any reason or history. During this incident his right leg that had gone under surgery operation for tumor, was injured. Prison officials did not allow him to be transferred to a hospital, due to his refusal from wearing “dirty prison uniform”. During past days, at least two other political prisoners, including Mehdi Rajabian, imprisoned musician in ward number 7 and also Vahid Nasiri, political prisoner of ward number 4, were beaten and injured in similar incidents.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Kayvan Karimi, famous filmmaker who is imprisoned in ward number 8, was beaten after few inmates went to his cell and beat him without any reason, on February 25. A Report about Asghar Ghattan’s Critical Health Condition in Custody

HRANA News Agency – Asghar Ghattan has frequently been arrested and imprisoned since 1960s, when he was just 14 years old, because of his political activities. This political prisoner is currently being held in Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj, despite suffering from various diseases. Mr. Ghattan has had “19 diseases and surgeries and takes 38 prescribed pills every day.”
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Asghar Ghattan, born in 1954, was arrested last time by the Ministry of Intelligence agents in 2010, and after 45 days interrogation in ward 209, due to his illness and on doctors’ advice he was released on the bail. A Political Prisoner Sentenced to Additional 5 Years

HRANA News Agency – Hossein Danesh Payeh, political prisoner in Urmia Central Prison, was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment by the Revolutionary Court in this city. The judge has added his “one year of probation” period, despite its execution period was expired, in his new sentence.
