Sarah Mahboubi, a Baha’i Citizen from Sari , Arrested

HRANA News Agency – On Saturday April 9, 2011, Sarah Mahboubi, a Baha’i college student deprived of an education, was arrested for the second time in a year and transferred to the detention center located at the Intelligence Agency in Sari [the capital of Mazandaran Province, Iran].

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), the intelligence officers of Sari arrested Sarah Mahboubi after searching her family home and seizing books, handwritten notes, CDs and a computer from her residence.

Two Christian Citizens Arrested While Traveling On the New Year Holidays

HRANA NEWS – On Wednesday, March 22, 2011 three citizens who were traveling while the New Year holidays were arrested by intelligence service agents on the road from Salmas to the village of Broshkharan.

According to HRANA Reporters, Iranian Human Rights Agency, Saleh Jahangir Zadeh, son of Saied, from Village of Broshkhara which is a county of Salmas, along Hamid Najafi and his wife, Mahzar Najafi, Christian citizens from city of Karaj who were traveling to this city on the New Year holiday, were arrested by intelligence service agents on Wednesday.

Following this arrest the personal cal of Saleh Jahangir Zadeh has also been seized by intelligence service bureau.

It is important to note that the efforts made by families of those arrested to follow up on their conditions have not been successful so far and 48 hours after their arrest, there is still no information regarding their status and location.

Dismissal of all Baha’i Employees of Achilandoor Company

HRANA News Agency – While more than two months have passed since the CEO and five employees of Achilandoor Company were detained by IRGC [Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps] intelligence officers, in the last few days, all Baha’i employees and workers of this company in the cities of Tehran and Mashhad have been fired following an order issued by the Intelligence Office of IRGC.

Christian prisoners in poor conditions in prison Mashhad

HRANA – The revolutionary court  of  Mashhad while threatening the families of Christian  detainees,  has  told them in the event these individuals do not adhere back to Islam they  will  be  sentenced for  “apostasy”.
According to HRANA reporters,  On Sunday,  during a  meeting with the families of  the detainees that have been held since July 7th 2010 for adhering to Christianity  the judge for branch 901 of revolutionary court of  Mashhad announced that in spite  of the fact that the authorities have spent 50 days, nevertheless these individuals have not given any guarantees to recant from their Christianity.  After these statements while threatening the families of the detainees, the court authorities and intelligence officers asked them in  a meeting that they will arrange with the detainees, they have to request their loved  ones to recant from their Christian beliefs and return to  Islam.  The authorities have demanded that the families of the these individuals to provide ample warnings about the  re-precautions of insisting  upon  their  Christian beliefs.

Continued Persecution of Bahai Citizens in Iran

HRANA- Repressive measures against Bahai citizens in Iran have resulted in the arrest of one individual in Abadan and the destruction of a Bahai cemetery in Kerman.

HRANA has learned that on July 17, 2010 agents from the Ministry of Intelligence raided the home of Hedayatollah Rezai a Bahai citizen from Abadan and arrested him after searching his home.

Continued Detention of Child Labor Activist and Bahai Citizen Afshin Heyratian

HRANA- Child labor activist and Bahai citizen from Tehran Afshin Heyratian has been in detention since his arrest on June 3, 2010.

According to the Committee of Human Rights Reporters, Heyratian was arrested in a park near his home. Security forces then entered his home without a warrant. Afshin Heyratian was active in a group working to better the plight of child laborers. It is believed that several other group members have been arrested.

Iranian Christians Arrested in Mashad

HRANA- A number of followers of the Christian faith in Mashad were arrested by state security and intelligence forces. There is no word on the fate of two of those arrested.

HRANA has learned that on Thursday July 8, 2010 a group of fifteen Iranian Christians were arrested by state security and intelligence forces in Mashad as they were departing for a meeting with Christians from the city of Bojnourd.

Inquiries into Personal Lives, Investigations into Financials of Bahai Citizens of Birjand

HRANA- The Ministry of Intelligence has ordered banks in Birjand to audit the accounts and to investigate the financial transactions of its Bahai citizens.

According to HRANA reporters, in addition to the investigations they are visiting the businesses of these citizens and questioning them regarding their income and family members.

Sentencing and Detention of Bahai Citizen

HRANA- Soosan Tebianian, a Bahai citizen from Semnan, was summoned by the revolutionary court in Semnan, where she was detained and transferred to Evin Prison.

Soosan Tebianian had been accused of spreading propaganda against the government and membership in a Bahai organization. She was sentenced to one and a half years in prison. She was detained and transferred to Tehran’s Evin Prison on June 30, 2010.
