HRANA – At dawn yesterday, the death sentences of two prisoners previously convicted on drug-related charges were carried out in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz.

HRANA has identified the two prisoners who were hanged at dawn on Sunday, August 17, as Ahmad Younesi and Mehdi Najafi.

Based on information obtained by HRANA, both prisoners had earlier been arrested on drug-related charges and subsequently sentenced to death by the judiciary.

As of the time of this report, the executions have not been announced by prison officials or state media.

According to HRANA’s statistics, in 2024, Adelabad Prison in Shiraz witnessed the execution of 92 inmates — an 88% increase compared to the previous year. This sharp rise places Adelabad as the second deadliest prison in Iran after Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj.

On Tuesday, August 12, three prisoners were executed in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz, on drug-related charges.

According to HRANA, one of those executed was identified as Afshin Dehghani, who had previously been sentenced to death on drug-related charges. The other two prisoners, Peyman Eghbali, 37, and Mehran Imani, 40, were residents of Jahrom.

According to information received by HRANA, Peyman Eghbali and Mehran Imani were arrested four years ago in a joint case on drug-related charges and later sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court.

HRANA – At dawn on Thursday, July 31, four prisoners, including one woman, who had previously been sentenced to death in separate cases on drug-related charges, were executed in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz.

HRANA has confirmed the identities of two of the executed individuals as Abolfazl Alaei, 48, and Nahid Jokar (female), 52, both from Shiraz. The identities of the other two prisoners, who were nationals of Afghanistan, are still being verified.

According to information obtained by HRANA, all four prisoners had been arrested in separate cases on charges related to drug offenses and were later sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court.

As of the time of this report, the executions have not been officially announced by prison authorities or other relevant institutions.

HRANA– At dawn on Wednesday, July 30, a prisoner named Reza Salehi was executed in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists in Iran, Reza Salehi, who had been held in Adelabad Prison, was executed early this morning, Wednesday, July 30, 2025. No official confirmation has been issued by judicial authorities, and details of his case have not been made public.

HRANA has identified the prisoner as Reza Salehi. According to information received, he had previously been arrested on a murder charge and sentenced to death by the Criminal Court.

As of the time of this report, prison authorities and relevant institutions have not publicly acknowledged the execution.

In 2024, according to 812 reports compiled by HRANA, the Iranian regime executed 930 individuals in its prisons—marking the highest number of executions in the past 12 years. Despite the scale of these executions, prison officials and other relevant authorities publicly acknowledged only 6% of them, highlighting the regime’s lack of transparency and accountability.

HRANA News Agency – On Monday, June 30, a prisoner previously sentenced to death for drug-related charges was executed in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists in Iran, the executed prisoner has been identified as Ahmadreza Didban. HRANA’s sources report that Didban had been arrested on charges related to drug offenses and later sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court.

Three Prisoners Executed in Shiraz, Kerman, and Dezful

In recent days, three prisoners were executed in the prisons of Kerman, Dezful, and Shiraz on charges related to drug offenses and murder.

On Monday, authorities at Dezful Prison carried out the execution of a prisoner named Reza Abdoli. According to information received by HRANA, Mr. Abdoli had previously been arrested on murder charges and was later sentenced to death by the criminal court.

On the same day, a prisoner named Sanjar Navabi was executed in Kerman Prison on drug-related charges. His sentence had been issued by the Revolutionary Court.

Finally, yesterday, May 28, Adelabad Prison in Shiraz witnessed the execution of a prisoner named Mehdi Farhadi. According to information received by HRANA, Mr. Farhadi had previously been arrested on murder charges and sentenced to death by the criminal court.

As of the time of this report, none of these executions have been officially announced by prison officials or responsible institutions.

According to HRANA reports, in 2024, only 6% of executions were announced by official bodies or domestic media outlets. Over the past five years, 77% of executions have gone unreported—commonly referred to as secret executions. In some of these cases, the lack of transparency is so severe that the death-row prisoners are denied even the chance for a final visit with their families.

Four Months in Legal Limbo: Mohammad-Ali and Hoda Mehreganfar Denied Medical Care in Shiraz Prison

HRANA News Agency – Mohammad-Ali Mehreganfar and his daughter, Hoda Mehreganfar, political detainees from Zarghan in Fars Province, have been held in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz for over four months without due process. Despite suffering from serious health issues, both have been denied medical care and access to essential medication.

HRANA has learned that the father and daughter were arrested by security forces in Zarghan on October 22, 2024. They were held for 58 days in an IRGC Intelligence detention facility before being transferred to Adelabad Prison. Authorities have accused them of alleged ties to an opposition group, and they remain in custody without the possibility of release on bail.

A source close to the family confirmed to HRANA: “Hoda Mehreganfar had recently undergone gynecological surgery before her arrest. She received no medical care while in IRGC Intelligence detention, and now in Adelabad Prison, she is also being denied access to hospital treatment. Additionally, Mohammad-Ali Mehreganfar suffers from heart problems, and one of his eyes requires surgery, yet he has not received any medical attention.”

The source further stated: “Prison authorities have refused to provide Hoda Mehreganfar with her prescribed medications. The prison’s medical unit has informed her that she must personally cover the cost and arrange for the medicine to be brought from outside. However, she has no one outside prison to handle her medical needs.”

Mohammad-Ali Mehreganfar, 66, is a former political prisoner from the 1980s. His daughter, Hoda Mehreganfar, 38, is an electronics engineer. Both are residents of Zarghan, Fars Province.
