4 Turkish Activists Sentenced to a Total of 45 Years in Prison

HRANA News Agency – The General and Revolutionary Court of Baharestan town, in Tehran, convicted four Turkish activists to a total of 45 years imprisonment and exile. Although the convictions have been made based on charges of organizing illegal groups, but the court documents indicate that they had no violent activities and they have been active mostly in the field of cultural and linguistic issues.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), based on a verdict issued by the General and Revolutionary Court of Baharestan town, in Tehran, Mr. Akbar Azad, journalist and researcher has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment and 2 years exile in Dareh Shahr of Ilam province, Mr. Alireza Farshi has been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment and 2 years exile in Bagh-e Malek of Khozestan province, Mr. Behnam Sheikhi has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment and 2 years exile in Masjed Soleiman of Khozestan, and Hamid Manafi has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment and 2 years exile in Azna city of Lorestan province.   Continue reading “4 Turkish Activists Sentenced to a Total of 45 Years in Prison”

Azeri Activists Met MP from Uremia

HRANA News Agency – A group of Azerbaijani civil activist, from West Azerbaijan province, had a meeting with a Member of Parliament of Iran (Majlese Shoraye Islami), and stated their objection regarding the recent detention of civil activists in their province, and against the prevention of International Mothers Language Day’s celebration.

An Azeri political prisoner released on the bail

HRANA News Agency – Hamid Manafi, the Azeri political activist, was released on 300 million Tomas bail, on Monday, May 26.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), this civil activist was arrested for attending in International Mother Language Day, along with 6 others, and transferred to Evin prison, on May 8. An Azeri political activist released on heavy bail

HRANA News Agency – Akbar Azad, the Azeri activist who was arrested on International Mother Tongue’s Day, has been released on bail.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Akbar Azad, the Azeri political activist, who was arrested on charge of having speech on Internanioal Mother Tongue’s Day in Tehran last March and was transferred to Evin prison has been released on 150 million Tomans bail, on Saturday, May 17. The mass arrests of Turkish activists still going on

HRANA News Agency – The massive wave of Turkish civil activists’ arrests, in the international mother tongue day is going on.
 
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), some other Turkish activists who have gathered for international mother tongue day, in Mr. Fathi’s house in Tehran-Akbar Abad, have been arrested by intelligence forces, on Friday February 21st.
 
Intelligence service and security forces rushed to this gathering and arrested some of Azeri activists. Yet it is known that Alireza Farshi, Akbar Azad, Esrafil Soltanian, Mojtaba Mousavi, Behnam Seifi and Behnam Fathi are between detainees.
 
This gathering took two hours long and near 100 people had attended. Due to low number of intelligence forces some guests could open the door and exit from Mr. Fathi’s house.
 
Available sources addressed the intelligence department of police as an administrator and responsible for this operation. There is no information about the place that detainees are transferred.
 
Need to be mentioned, the day before, on Thursday almost 50 political and civil Azeri activists who had gathered for international mother tongue day were arrested in Mr. Akbar Aboulzadeh’s house.
