HRANA’s Daily Review of Protests in Iran

On Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at least three protests and one labour strike took place in Iran.

In Behbahan County, the farmers who are cultivating rapeseed demonstrated to demand the rest of the payment for their sold rapeseed crops from the government.

A number of young residents of several villages in Ahvaz County protested before the National Iranian Oil Company facility. They asked the company to recruit from local labour forces.

A number of residents of a town in Eastern Tehran protested against several years of delay in the legal assignment of these lands.

The workers of the Pars Oxine Steel Company went on strike for the fourth day in protest against delays in payments.

Mehdi Taiebi Arrested and Jailed in Behbahan Prison

On Tuesday, May 31, 2022, Mehdi Taiebi was arrested after an appearance at the Ministry of Justice of Behbahan City and imprisoned.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, after criticizing the Iranian regime on social media, Taiebi was summoned to the Ministry of Justice of Behbahan, where he was arrested, and ordered the bail amount of 1.5 billion tomans, and was sent to Behbahan prison.

Mehdi Taiebi, 22 years old, is a resident of the village Kurdistan Bozorg in the Behbahan County of Khuzestan Province.

Sorena Chatri Still in Detention and Awaiting Legal Proceedings in Behbahan Prison

Sorena Chatri, resident of Behbahan County, is still in detention and awaiting further legal proceedings. Late January of this year, IRGC’s intelligence agents arrested him in Behbahan city.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, Sorena Chatri is still in detention and uncertainties regarding his condition in prison and legal proceedings.

Late January, he was arrested by IRGC’s intelligence agents and transferred to one of the detention centers at disposal of IRGC and after a week to Behbahan Prison.

He is a sports coach and resident of Tashan City located in Behbahan County.
