Baha’i Individual Fariba Ashtari Arrested in Yazd

On September 7, 2022, the intelligence agents arrested Fariba Ashtari and transferred her to Yazd Prison.

An informed source told HRANA that Ashtari has been arrested to start her five-year sentence. She had a heart disease for which she had undergone surgery two times last year.

On December 2, 2019, the intelligence agents arrested Ashtari at her house and on February 2019, she was released on bail.

On June 20, 2020, the Revolutionary Court of Yazd sentenced Ashtari to five years on the charge of “membership in an anti-regime group” and one year in prison on the charge of “propaganda against the regime”. Based on Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, five years imprisonment for the first charge is enforceable to her.

Previously, Ashtari and her husband and son had also faced arrests and convictions. Between 2014 to 2016, she had been imprisoned in Yazd Prison. Her husband, Naser Bagheri was imprisoned for nine months. Her Son, Faez Bagheri was arrested in March of 2015, when he was 17 years old. He was released on bail after five months. Later, he was sentenced to three years in prison but the verdict was commuted to a one-million-toman fine on appeal.

Two Bahais Arrested in Yazd

HRANA News Agency – Security forces in Yazd have searched the home of the Baqeri family, for the third time in the past year.

Fariba Ashtari Begins Her 2-Year Sentence in Yazd Prison

HRANA News Agency – On Feburary 21, Mrs. Fariba Ashtari, a Bahai from Yazd, reported to the central prison in the city to begin serving a 2-year sentence.

Two Bahais Begin their Sentences in Arak and Kerman

HRANA News Agency – On January 31, Navid Haqiqi and Shahram Falah reported to prisons in Arak and Kerman, respectively, to begin serving 3-year sentences for their faith.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), in August 2012, 20 Bahais were arrested in central Iran: 10 in Yazd and Isfahan and 10 others in towns and cities such as Shahin Shahr, Vila Shahr, Arak and Kerman. 20 Bahais receive heavy sentences in Yazd

HRANA News Agency – A court in Yazd has sentenced 20 Bahais to a total of 78 years in prison.

 

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), on August 1, 2011, agents from the Ministry of Intelligence raided many Bahai homes in the cities of Yazd , Isfahan, Kerman and Arak, and arrested 17 Bahais. Two weeks later, three more Bahais were arrested in Yazd. After one month in detention, they were all released on bail. About a year later they were tried, and given sentences totaling 78 years. 3 Bahais are sentenced to 10 years in prison

HRANA News Agency – Fariba Ashtari, Shabnam Motahhed and Iman Rashidi, the 3 Bahai citizens have been sentenced to in sum 10 years in prison by Yazd revolutionary court.
