Ali Pasban, a political prisoner, is serving his seven-year sentence in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad. He is being held in the same ward as prisoners convicted of violent crimes, in violation of prison regulations.

A source close to Mr. Pasban’s family told HRANA, “He is being held in the violent criminals’ ward, Salon 102, Ward 5 of Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad, without adherence to the principle of separation of crimes. Recently, after he protested against the inappropriate behavior of a prison official, he was threatened. The guards told him they would hire individuals in that ward to harm him. He reported to his family about ongoing harassment, threats, and the danger to his life, and requested legal assistance.”

This citizen was arrested on August 26, 2021, in Mashhad and transferred to Vakilabad Prison in this city. In January 2022, he was sentenced to seven years in prison by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Mashhad on charges of “membership in opposition groups intending to disrupt national security.”
Additionally, in March-April 2022, he was sentenced to one year in prison on charges of “insulting the Supreme Leader.”
Mr. Pasban had previously been convicted and served prison sentences in Isfahan and Kashan in 2018 and 2019 on charges of “propaganda against the regime” and “insulting the Supreme Leader.”

Teachers’ Union Activist Mohammad Habibi Receives Six Months in Prison

Mohammad Habibi, spokesperson for the Tehran Teachers’ Trade Association, has been sentenced to six months and one day in prison by Branch 2 of the Shahriar Revolutionary Court.

Based on a verdict issued on July 21 by Branch 2 of the Shahriar Revolutionary Court and communicated to Mr. Habibi, he has been sentenced to six months and one day in prison for “propaganda against the regime.” The court session for addressing Mohammad Habibi’s charges was held on June 29 of this year in the aforementioned branch.

On April 5, 2023, Habibi was arrested at his workplace in Tehran by security agents due to his protest posts regarding the serial poisoning attacks on schools across the country. He was eventually released on May 20 of the same year from Ward 209 of Evin Prison after posting bail.

It is worth noting that this spokesperson for the Teachers’ Trade Association was previously arrested by security forces in Tehran on April 30, 2022, ahead of Teacher Appreciation Week in Iran and a protest gathering of educators. He was released from Evin Prison on February 8 of the following year.

In October 2022, he was sentenced by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court to three years and seven months in prison for “assembly and collusion against national security,” one year for “propaganda against the regime,” a two-year ban on activities and membership in groups, and a travel ban.

Habibi has a history of arrests and convictions due to his activities.

Ramin Zaleh Citizen Arrested by Security Forces in Naqadeh

On July 22, Ramin Zaleh, a resident of Naghadeh, was arrested by security forces and taken to an unknown location, as reported by Krudpa.

His identity has been reported as “Ramin Zaleh, a resident of Naqadeh.”

The report, quoting a source, states that on Monday, July 22, security forces, without presenting a judicial warrant, entered the family home of this citizen, arrested him, and took him to an unknown location.

The reasons for the arrest and the charges against this citizen are not yet known.

Prisoner Executed in Dizelabad Prison, Kermanshah

On Sunday, July 21st, the execution of Danial Kazemi-Nejad, who had previously been sentenced to death for “killing a Basij militia force,” was carried out in Dizelabad Prison, Kermanshah, according to Kurdpa.

Based on this report, Danial Kazemi-Nejad, 30 years old, was arrested on July 9, 2023, for the alleged murder of a Basij officer named Sajad Amiri and was subsequently sentenced to death by the judiciary.
The execution was reportedly carried out without prior notice or a final meeting with his family.

No official sources or domestic media outlets within the country have provided coverage of these executions at the time of writing.
In 2023, the Department of Statistics and Publication of Human Rights Activists in Iran registered the execution of 767 individuals. Out of these, 7 were carried out in public. Among the executed individuals whose genders were identified, 21 were female. Additionally, 2 juvenile offenders, defined as individuals under the age of 18 at the time of their alleged crimes, were also executed.

Hassan Amini Transferred to Sanandaj Prison to Serve Sentence

On July, Hassan Amini, the brother of Mohammad Amini, who was killed at the hands of regime forces during the 2022 nationwide protests, was arrested to serve his prison sentence and transferred to Sanandaj Prison, according to a report by Kurdpa.

In July 2023, Mr. Amini was sentenced by Branch 101 of the Criminal Court of Bukan to six months and fifteen days in prison and forty lashes for “disrupting public order.”

Amini was arrested by security forces on June 9th last year during a protest gathering at the burial place of Danial Pabandi, another victims during the the 2022 nationwide protests. He was released on bail from Bukan Prison after four days of detention.

According to published reports, Mohammad Amini was shot and killed by security forces on October 8, 2022, during protests in Sanandaj.

Political Detainee Parivash Moslemi Detained for Over 15 Days

Parivash Moslemi, a political detainee, has been held in Evin Prison for over fifteen days with unclear legal status.

Based on information received by HRANA, Ms. Moslemi was arrested on July 7th after reporting to the Evin Prosecutor’s Office and subsequently transferred to the women’s ward of Evin Prison. A source close to the family of this political detainee confirmed this news to HRANA, stating, “Parivash has also been charged with offenses such as ‘propaganda against the regime,’ ‘insulting the Founder and the Supreme Leader,’ and ‘assembly and collusion against national security.'”

Ms. Moslemi, aged around 46, was arrested by security forces in the city of Nur in March-April this year. She was released three days later from one of the city’s security detention facilities.

Parivash Moslemi was previously detained by security forces in September 2023, coinciding with the anniversary of Mahsa Amini’s death. She was finally released a month later after posting bail from Qarchak Prison located in Varamin.

Four Prisoners Executed in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz

At dawn on Saturday, July 20th, the execution of four prisoners, including a woman, who had previously been sentenced to death in separate cases on charges of murder and rape, was carried out in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz, as reported by Iran Human Rights Organization.

The identities of the prisoners, Mansour Tavakoli and Hamed Shekasteh, both 40 years old, Mohsen Ostovari, and the woman executed with them, (first name unknown) Mahmoudinia, have been reported.

According to the report, Mr. Tavakoli and Mr. Shekasteh were arrested and sentenced to death about three years ago on charges of premeditated murder. Ostovari was sentenced to death on charges of rape.

The report states that Ms. Mahmoudinia was sentenced to death for the murder of her husband, whom she had been forcibly married to.

As of the time of this report, the execution of these four prisoners has not been announced by prison officials and responsible authorities.

Four Prisoners Executed in Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj for Drug Offenses

On Sunday, July 21, four inmates who had previously been arrested and sentenced to death on drug-related charges were executed in Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj.

The identities of three of them, Davood Brahui (Barahooie), Saeed Mohammadpour, and Mehdi-Ali Akbari, have been veridfied by HRANA. The identity of the fourth executed prisoner, who was an Afghan national, is under investigation.

Inmate Executed in Lakan Prison, Rasht

At dawn on Wednesday, July 17th, the execution of a prisoner previously sentenced to death for murder was carried out in Lakan Prison, Rasht, according to a report by Iranian Human Rights Organization.

His identity has been reported as “Taher Sadeghi.”

According to the report, Taher Sadeghi was arrested about three years ago on charges of murder and was subsequently sentenced to death by the judiciary.

No official sources or domestic media outlets within the country have provided coverage of these executions at the time of writing.

Report on the Latest Status of Atefeh Rangriz in Shahroud Prison

Atefeh Rangriz, a women’s rights activist, is serving her sentence in Shahroud Prison. Ms. Rangriz was previously sentenced by the Shahroud Revolutionary Court to over three years and three months in prison.

A source close to the family of this women’s rights activist confirmed this news to HRANA, stating: “Ms. Rangriz has recently begun serving her prison term in Shahroud Prison. This women’s rights activist was previously sentenced by the Shahroud Revolutionary Court to two years, seven months, and sixteen days for ‘collaborating and being a member of opposition groups’ and to seven months and sixteen days for ‘propaganda against the regime.'”

The source added: “Rangriz was also fined six million tomans, which was altered following the prosecutor’s objection to the mentioned prison term.”

On June 29, Rangriz was arrested and transferred to Shahroud Prison for sentencing after a court session addressing her charges in another case at Branch 1 of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office in Damghan. For this case, she faces the charges of ‘forming a group to disrupt national security, propaganda against the regime, and spreading falsehoods on social media to disturb public opinion.’

Atefeh Rangriz was arrested by security forces in Damghan on September 10, 2023, and transferred to The Ministry of Intelligence’s detention facility in Semnan. After completing interrogation, she was transferred to Shahroud Prison. Finally, on October 21, 2023, she was released from Shahroud Prison on bail.

Ms. Rangriz has previously been arrested and sentenced due to her activism.
