A Prisoner Hanged in Mashhad

Pictures of Executed Prisoners’ Corpses in Karaj / Graphic Photos

HRANA News Agency – On August 27, 12 prisoners with drug-related charges were hanged in a prison in Karaj, despite requests of UN Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights in Iran, Mr. Ahmad Shaheed for halting the executions. Sentences of 5 Political Prisoners Reduced to 2 Years

HRANA News Agency – Seyed Mahmoud Alizadeh Tabatabaei, lawyer of the defendants of the case, known as “Influence Project” announced the reduction of their sentences to two years imprisonment by an appeals court in Tehran. Isa Saharkhiz, Ehsan Mazandarani (editor of Farhikhtegan newspaper), Saman Safarzaee (journalist of Andishe Pooya), Davud Asadi and Afarin Chitsaz were arrested by the Revolutionary Guards After Iranian leader’s speech about “influences of the enemy” and Tehran revolutionary court sentenced them to long-term Imprisonments.

7 Christians Arrested in Firoozkooh

HRANA News Agency – On August 26, seven Christian converts who had gone to Firoozkooh with their families were detained by the Intelligence Ministry. Two of these citizens were released immediately but the whereabouts and condition of five others are unknown so far.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), on August 26, Ramin Bet Tamers, Amin Afshar Naderi, Hadi Asgari, Mohamad Dehnavard and Amir Saman Dashti with their wives had gone to Firoozkooh for fishing and picnics. Around 1:30 PM, Ministry of Intelligence agents attacked them and separated the men from women. Amin Afshar Naderi asked them for a warrant but they refused to show a warrant and beat him. Hamid Babai’s Charges Changed and Retrial Rejected

HRANA News Agency – The charges against Hamid Babai, political prisoner in Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj were changed in the case whose verdict had recently been issued and approved by the Court of Appeal and according to the new charges, the Supreme Court rejected his retrial request. Mr. Babai is suffering from eardrum, chronic and progressive infection and his medical furlough request is being rejected by the Ministry of Intelligent.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), although Hamid Babai had been sentenced to 6 years imprisonment and 4 years suspended imprisonment on charges of “espionage and contact with enemy states” and the sentence was upheld by the Court of Appeal but the charges against him have been changed to “encouraging people to commit a crime and crimes against internal and external security” in the Supreme Court and his retrial request was rejected. HRANA News Agency – Nasim Bagheri, one the instructors of Bahi Online University, was arrested in June 2011 and sentenced to 4 years in prison. She is suffering from thyroid but despite multiple requests for furlough has been deprived of it.
