Imprisonment Sentences of 6 Protesters Upheld by the Appeal Court
HRANA News Agency – The sentence of more than twenty-three years imprisonment for six of those who were arrested during a protest against the attack on ward 350 of Evin prison, has been upheld precisely by the Court of Appeal.

Rasool Bodaghi Was Not Released by the End of His Imprisonment

UN Expert Calls for an Immediate Moratorium after Iran Hands Down Death Penalty to a Prisoner of Conscience
HRANA News Agency – The United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran, Ahmed Shaheed, yesterday urged the Iranian authorities to immediately commute the death penalty recently handed down to Mohammad Ali Tehari, a well-known author of alternative medical theories practiced in Iran and abroad, and founder ofErfan-e-Halgheh (Inter-Universalism), an arts and culture institute in Tehran which promoted healing concepts.
Mr. Taheri was reportedly sentenced to death on 1 August on charges of ‘Fisad-fil-Arz’ (‘Corruption on Earth’), while he was serving a five year sentence. He was arrested in May 2011 and sentenced to five years in prison for insulting Islamic sanctities. Death Sentence on Alternative Health Practitioner Highlights Alarming Use of Capital Punishment in Iran
HRANA News Agency – UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein today expressed alarm at the imposition of the death penalty on Mohammad Ali Taheri, the founder of a spiritual movement, writer and practitioner of alternative medicine theories used in Iran and abroad. Taheri was sentenced to death on Saturday by the Revolutionary Court on a charge of Fesad fel Arz (corruption on earth).
“Iran’s use of the death penalty has long been problematic, with many executions on drug offences, several executions of people who were below the age of 18 when the crime was committed, as well as other cases where broad, ill-defined charges led to the imposition of capital punishment,” Zeid said.
