Political Prisoners’ Protests in Rajai Shahr Prison Continue

HRANA News Agency – The protest of the political prisoners in Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj is still ongoing through refusing to receive the diet after several weeks. The prison authorities refuse to provide the blankets and sell heating supplies. Prison authorities use these restrictions to put pressure on political prisoners in prison. In addition, prison officials recently transferred three political prisoners in the ward to non-political wards to increase pressure on prisoners following the continuation of protests in the ward.

Monthly Report – An Overview of the Human Rights Situation in Iran for Aban 1396 Iranian Calendar (23 October 2017 – 21 November 2017 Gregorian calendar)

HRANA News Agency – The Department of Statistics and Publications of the Human Rights Activists in Iran (HRAI) has published the following monthly report for the Iranian calendar Month of Aban (23 October-21 November) on the human rights situation in Iran. This report cannot be a comprehensive and complete reflection of the human rights situation in Iran, due to limitation and lack of authorization of activities for independent human rights organizations and in Iran.

It should be noted that in addition to the monthly reports, the Department of Statistics and Publication of the Human Rights Activists in Iran (HRAI) publishes a more comprehensive and analytical annual report on human rights in Iran at the end of each calendar year. Mohammad Reza Aghakhani’s Appeal Rejected by the Supreme Court

HRANA News Agency – The appeal of Mohammad Reza Aghakhani, an activist imprisoned in Evin Prison, who was previously sentenced to three years imprisonment on charges of membership in the national and religious group and acting against national security in Branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court, and his sentence was confirmed by Branch 54 of the Renewal Court of Tehran, rejected by Branch 38 of the Supreme Court recently. Mohammad Reza Aghakhani sent to Evin prison after he was summoned in November last year.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Mohammad Reza Aghakhani has been sentenced to three years imprisonment by Branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court and remains in prison since November last year. The appeal court upheld the verdict, and the last appeal of this political activist was rejected by Branch 38 of the Supreme Court. Maryam Kalangari Arrested to Serve Her Sentence

HRANA News Agency – Maryam Kalangari, 65, was arrested by the law-enforcement officers and transferred to the central prison of Arak on January 13. Mrs. Kalangari had already been sentenced to 5 months imprisonment by a court. Three other members of the Kalangari family, Bijan Kalangari, Mojtaba, and Meghdad Fouladi, were sentenced to three years imprisonment each. Kalangari’s family is among the families of survivors of the massacre of political prisoners in 1980s.

3 Civil Activists Transferred to Arak Central Prison

HRANA News Agency – Mohammad Najafi and Ali Bagheri, two of the detainees of the recent protests were transferred to the Central Prison of Arak, after completing the interrogation process. Behzad Ali Bakhshi, another civil activist from Arak, was also transferred to Ward 8, the Health Ward.

Civil Activists Arrested Across the Country

HRANA News Agency – Security forces arrested a number of civil activists throughout the country during a coordinated operation on February 1. Some detainees including Saeed Eghbali and Saeed Seifi are denied of having visitors in Evin Prison.

Ramin and Afshin Hossein Panahi Ended Their Hunger Strike

Hana News Agency – Hossein Ahmadi Niaz, the lawyer of Ramin Hossein Panahi, confirmed the end of a hunger strike of him and his brother, Afshin Hossein Panahi. Ramin and Afshin Hossein Panahi began their hunger strike on Saturday January 27, after Ramin Hossein Panahi’s death sentence was issued and ended the protest after the appeal was registered.

Soheil Arabi Beaten and Transferred to Fashafoie Prison

HRANA News Agency – Soheil Arabi, prisoner of conscience, have been transferred to Fashafoie Prison from Evin Prison. He was also beaten on January 31, 2018. Beating Mr. Arabi has caused bruise on his body.
