At Least 27 Prisoners Executed in Iran Over Two Days

HRANA – Over the past two days, according to reports by HRANA and other human rights organizations, at least 27 prisoners have been executed in various prisons across Iran. Additional executions were also reported in the preceding days.

Wednesday, December 24:
HRANA reported the execution of the following individuals on this day:

• Zahra Khanzadeh and Amir Azizi, on drug-related charges, in Mashhad Prison
• Noushad Kazemian, on drug-related charges, in Malayer Prison
• Yarmohammad Saljouqi, on drug-related charges, in Taybad Prison
• Jahanshah Rashidian, on drug-related charges, in Damghan Prison
• Nazir (last name unknown), a citizen of Afghanistan, and Ayoub Dehghani, on drug-related charges, in Adel-Abad Prison in Shiraz
• Nemat Khosravi, on drug-related charges, in Kashmar Prison
• Noureddin Panahi, on charges of murder, in Bushehr Prison
• Saoud Moradi, Yaqub Masoumi, Mohammad Mehdi Adavi, and Ebrahim Alizadeh, on charges of murder, in Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj
• Mohammad Nourian, on charges of murder, in Shahrekord Prison
• Behrouz Sheikhi, on charges of murder, in Behbahan Prison
• Khodakaram Safapour, on charges of murder, in Sabzevar Prison
• (First name unknown) Rastegari, on charges of murder, in Mahabad Prison

Additionally, Hirkani News reported the execution of a 23-year-old prisoner named Mehdi Rajabali-Zadeh, on charges of murder during a group fight, in Lakan Prison in Rasht.

Tuesday, December 23:

According to HRANA, the death sentences of the following individuals were carried out:

• Manouchehr Mahaki, on charges of murder, in Jiroft Prison
• Two prisoners of unknown identity, on charges of murder, in Chabahar Prison
• Sepehr Moradi, on charges of murder, in Mahshahr Prison
• Pejman Saeedi, on charges of murder, in Borazjan Prison
• Yazdan Joozipour, on drug-related charges, in Yazd Prison

In addition, a news agency affiliated with the IRGC reported the execution of two prisoners on charges of rape in Qaemshahr Prison. The identities of those executed were not disclosed.

Other reported executions:

Beyond the executions listed above, Iran Human Rights reported the execution of a 41-year-old woman named Mahdieh Keyhani, on charges of murder, in Hamedan Prison on Sunday, December 21.

In another report, on Monday, December 22, three prisoners named Aydin Nourzad, Mohammadreza Madadi (approximately 30 years old), and Kazem Hamidi (40 years old) were executed. According to the report, Mr. Madadi had been arrested two years earlier on drug-related charges and was later sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court. Mr. Hamidi had been arrested four years earlier on charges of murder in a street altercation and was subsequently sentenced to death by a criminal court.

In a separate report by Iran Human Rights, on Tuesday, December 23, a 46-year-old prisoner named Houshang Amiri was executed on charges of murder in Nishapur Prison.

Yarsani Citizen Yaghoub Karimpour Faces Execution as Case Reaches Supreme Court

HRANA – Yaghoub Karimpour, a citizen who follows the Yarsan faith and is currently imprisoned in Urmia Prison, has recently been sentenced to death on charges of espionage by Branch One of the Urmia Revolutionary Court. His case is now under review by the Supreme Court.

Mr. Karimpour, who is currently held in the intake ward of Urmia Prison, was sentenced to death by Branch One of the Urmia Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Sajjad Doosti, on the charge of “corruption on earth through espionage in favor of Israel.”

Following his objection to the verdict, his case has been referred to Branch 9 of the Supreme Court for review.
The hearing on the charges against this Yarsani citizen was held via videoconference, and the issued verdict was communicated to Mr. Karimpour at Urmia Central Prison.

Based on information received, this citizen was arrested by security forces in Miandoab in June 2025 and transferred for interrogation to The Ministry of Intelligence’s detention facility in Urmia. According to an informed source, Mr. Karimpour was subjected to security pressures for about two months in order to extract forced confessions regarding alleged cooperation with Israel.

From the time of his arrest until his case was referred to Branch One of the Urmia Revolutionary Court, Karimpour was denied access to legal counsel, and throughout his detention he was also denied family visitation.

Yaghoub Karimpour, aged approximately 41, is married and a graduate in law from Maragheh University.

Yarsanism, also known as Ahl-e Haqq, is a syncretic religion that originated in western Iran during the late 14th century under the leadership of Sultan Sahak. As a religious minority, Yarsan followers often face intimidation and persecution at the hands of the security and judicial systems of the regime.

HRANA- Over the past two days, according to reports by HRANA, at least 12 prisoners have been executed in Iran’s prisons.

Tuesday, December 23:
According to HRANA, the death sentences of the following individuals were carried out on this day:

• Saman Barzegar, convicted on drug-related charges, in Birjand Prison;
• Karim Yousefi, convicted on drug-related charges, in Khaf Prison;
• Ghanbar Farhadi, convicted of murder, in Ilam Prison;
• Safarali Sadeghi, convicted of murder, in Sepidar Prison in Ahvaz;
• Nejat Yari, convicted of murder, in Bam Prison.

In addition, a prisoner with the surname Moshiri (first name unknown) was executed on drug-related charges in Kerman Prison.

Monday, December 22:
HRANA reported the execution of the following prisoners on this day:

• Jamshid Nourmohammadi, on drug-related charges, in Kashan Prison;
• Majid Ahmadi, convicted of murder, in Neyshabur Prison;
• Iman Bakhshi, convicted of murder, in Saveh Prison;
• Noorkhoda Moradi, convicted of murder, in Dorud Prison;
• Aydin Nourzad, convicted of murder, in Gorgan Prison;
• Abbas Omidi, on drug-related charges, in Zanjan Prison.

Additionally, Iran Human Rights Organization reported the execution of two Afghan citizens on Sunday, December 21, in Taybad Prison. Their identities have been confirmed as Morad Sheghnaei, 27, and Mohammad Babrian, 32.

Aghil Keshavarz Executed in Urmia Prison

HRANA – The Judiciary’s Media Center announced the execution of Aghil (Aqil) Keshavarz on charges of espionage. The death sentence was carried out at dawn today, December 20, in Urmia Prison.

The Judiciary’s Media Center described the charge against the prisoner as espionage for Israel, claiming: “Based on the contents of the case file, Aghil Keshavarz established contact with the Israeli army and the Mossad through cyberspace and began cooperating by sending messages and information. In order to gain trust, he sent details of several warehouses and suspicious buildings and was gradually encouraged to carry out further missions.”

The judiciary claims that until the time of his arrest, Keshavarz had carried out more than 200 missions in the cities of Tehran, Isfahan, Urmia, and Shahrud. These missions reportedly included photographing locations, placing transmitters, conducting opinion polling, and assessing traffic conditions on roads.

The statement further alleges that Keshavarz knowingly cooperated with Israeli intelligence services and “groups affiliated with the Monafeqin,” providing them with information and images related to sensitive sites. According to these claims, he received payments in cryptocurrency in exchange for these actions.

It should be noted that in the terminology of the Islamic Republic, the terms “nefaq” (hypocrisy) and “Monafeqin” are used to refer to the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), one of the opposition groups to the Iranian government.

After the conclusion of the investigation, an indictment was issued against Aghil Keshavarz on charges of espionage in favor of Israel, and his case was referred to court. Relying on evidence presented by security institutions as well as confessions attributed to the defendant, the court sentenced him to death. The verdict was subsequently upheld by the Supreme Court.

In part of its statement, the judiciary also referred to this prisoner’s educational and family background. According to these details, Aghil Keshavarz, son of Javad, left his studies in mining engineering and later continued his education in architecture. Additionally, judicial authorities claimed that some members of his family held political views opposed to the system, and that his uncle had a history of membership in or support for the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran. According to the judiciary, Keshavarz had previously also carried out activities related to this group.

Although combating espionage is not considered a human rights violation in itself, given the Iranian government’s record of instrumentalizing such charges to target political opponents, raising such allegations, particularly in the absence of clear details about the case and judicial process, is always viewed with skepticism.

At Least 21 Prisoners Executed Across Iran in Recent Days

HRANA – In recent days, multiple executions have been carried out in various prisons across Iran on charges related to murder and drug offenses. This report reviews details of 21 executed prisoners.

Sunday, December 14:
HRANA reported the execution of a prisoner named Kamran Nouri on murder charges in Sanandaj Prison.
Iran Human Rights Organization also reported the execution of a prisoner named Mansour Ghaneh, approximately 30 years old and from Ahvaz, in Sepidar Prison of Ahvaz.

Monday, December 15:
HRANA reported the execution of a prisoner identified as Nourzad (first name unknown) on murder charges in Nowshahr Prison.

Tuesday, December 16:

In Lakan Prison in Rasht, the execution sentences of three prisoners convicted of murder were carried out. Further details, including their identities, are under investigation by HRANA.
Additionally, Ashkan Rasouli was executed on murder charges in Ferdows Prison; Kambiz Dirbazian on drug-related charges in Esfarayen Prison; and Arsalan Arab on murder charges in Dezful Prison.

Wednesday, December 17:
According to HRANA, on this day the following prisoners were executed:

• Mehdi Ghorbani in Mahshahr Prison,
• Kazem Taheri in Behbahan Prison,
• Mojtaba Falahati in Sari Prison,
• Ario Niazi in Dizelabad Prison, Kermanshah,
• Arian Jowkar in Quchan Prison.

All of the above individuals had been sentenced to death on murder charges.
Additionally, Shirzad Farhangi was executed on drug-related charges in Gonabad Prison.

Iran Human Rights Organization also reported the execution of two prisoners on murder charges, Alireza Soltani, approximately 49 years old, and Nasser Ayoubi, 28 years old, in Tabriz Prison.

Thursday, December 18:
According to HRANA, the death sentences of the following individuals were carried out on this day:

• Jaber Torkaman, on murder charges, in Bukan Prison;
• Karam Reza Karami, on drug-related charges, in Bojnurd Prison;
• An Afghan national of unknown identity, on drug-related charges, in Taybad Prison;
• Abolfazl Shirzadi, on murder charges, in Malayer Prison.

As of the time of this report, these executions have not been officially announced by prison authorities or relevant institutions.

HRANA – On Wednesday, December 17, at least 12 individuals were executed in various prisons across Iran on charges of murder and drug-related offenses.

HRANA reported that on this day the death sentences of the following individuals were carried out on murder charges:

• Faramarz Papi, executed at Shahrekord Prison
• Karamkhoda Yari, executed at Sabzevar Prison
• Osman Ahmadi, executed at Mahabad Prison
• Ebrahim Azizi, executed at Malayer Prison
• Yarvali Azimi, executed at Kashmar Prison
• Sajjad Farahmand, executed at Chabahar Prison
• Mehrshad Asgari, executed at Damghan Prison
• Mohammad Boghlani, executed at Bushehr Prison

In addition, the death sentence of Parviz Sha’bani, on charges related to drug-related crimes, was carried out at Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad.

Separately, the newspaper Hamshahri reported that, in addition to the execution of Raziyeh Abbasi, two other prisoners were hanged on murder charges yesterday at Ghezel Hesar Prison. Hamshahri did not disclose the identities of these individuals.

At Least Seven Prisoners Executed on December 16 Across Iranian Prisons

HRANA – Various prisons continue to witness an unprecedented wave of executions on charges related to murder and drug offenses. This report provides details of some of these executions carried out in recent days.

Today, Wednesday, December 17, a female prisoner named Razieh Abbasi, approximately 40 years old, was hanged in Ghezel Hesar Prison. According to information received by HRANA, Ms. Abbasi had previously been arrested on charges of murdering her husband and was later sentenced to death by a criminal court.
This prisoner, who had been held in Qarchak Prison in Varamin, was recently transferred to Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj for the implementation of her execution sentence.

According to HRANA, on Tuesday, December 16, the death sentences of the following individuals were carried out:

• Mahmoud Din Mohammadi, on charges of murder, in Birjand Prison, South Khorasan province;
• Yazdan Mohammadzadeh, on charges of murder, in Bam Prison, Kerman province;
• Nejat Rajabi, on charges of murder, in Jiroft Prison, Kerman province;
• Keyhan Abbasi, on charges of murder, in Borazjan Prison, Bushehr province;
• Ghobad (Qobad) Fathollahi, on charges of murder, in Ilam Prison;
• Ali Mohammad Roshanfekr, on charges of murder, in Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz;
• Ata Shahsavari, on drug-related charges, in Khaf Prison, Razavi Khorasan province.

HRANA also reported that on Sunday, three prisoners were hanged on charges of murder in Yazd Prison. The identities of two of these prisoners, Jasem Seghaei and Khalegh Zolfaghari, have been confirmed by HRANA.

Additionally, a human rights organization reported the execution of a prisoner named Heydar Amiri, 32 years old, on charges of murder on Monday, December 15, in Sabzevar Prison. The organization also reported that on Sunday, Mohammad Rahimi, 50 years old, was executed on drug-related charges in Gorgan Prison.

Death Sentence of Seyed Mohammad-Javad Vafaie Upheld by the Supreme Court

HRANA – The death sentence of Seyed Mohammad-Javad Vafaie Sani, a political prisoner, has once again been upheld by Iran’s Supreme Court after his request for retrial was rejected.

The informed source told HRANA: “On Monday, December 15, 2025, the rejection of Seyed Mohammad-Javad Vafaie Sani’s request for retrial by the Supreme Court was formally communicated to him in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad. Following this notification, prison authorities informed the Vafaie family during a phone call that his case had been sent to the Mashhad Office for the Implementation of Sentences. In addition, his mother was unexpectedly granted an in-person visit. Taken together, final confirmation of the sentence, referral of the case for implementation, and the sudden family visit, these developments indicate that this political prisoner’s situation has entered a highly concerning stage.”

The death sentence of Seyed Mohammad-Javad Vafaie Sani had previously been overturned twice by the Supreme Court, but in recent months it was upheld by Branch 9 of the Supreme Court. Following this decision, his defense attorney submitted another request for retrial, which was ultimately rejected. Most recently, in September 2024, Branch 3 of the Mashhad Revolutionary Court sentenced him to death on charges of “corruption on earth.”

This 28-year-old political prisoner and boxing coach was arrested in Mashhad in March 2020 and transferred to Vakilabad Prison. In the initial stage of proceedings, he was also sentenced to death by the Mashhad Revolutionary Court on charges of “corruption on earth through deliberate destruction.” That verdict was overturned by the Supreme Court, and the case was referred to a parallel branch for reconsideration. In the second trial, a death sentence was again issued, which was likewise overturned by the Supreme Court in June 2024.

At Least 11 Executions Reported Across Iranian Prisons in One Day

HRANA – Amid the continued unprecedented rise in executions in Iranian prisons, at least eleven prisoners were executed in various prisons across Iran on Monday, December 15.

HRANA reported the following executions carried out on Monday, December 15:

• Reza Shakouri, 50, on charges of murder in Lakan Prison in Rasht;
• Bahman Hosseini, on charges of murder in Gorgan Prison;
• (Known name unclear) Khorami, on charges of murder in Zanjan Prison;
• Ghanbar Safari, on charges of murder in Dorud Prison;
• Zahed Eslami, on charges of murder in Kashan Prison;
• Mohammad Bamari, on charges related to drug-related offenses in Kerman Prison;
• Amirhossein Rasouli, on charges of murder in Saveh Prison;
• Maziar Falahati, on charges of murder in Neyshabur Prison.

In addition, the death sentences of three other prisoners were carried out in Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan. These prisoners had previously been arrested on charges related to drug offenses and were later sentenced to death by Revolutionary Courts. HRANA has identified one of them as Milad Sheikhi.

Also, on Sunday, December 14, a prisoner named Khalil Emkani was executed on charges related to drug offenses in Bandar Abbas Prison.

Furthermore, the Human Rights Organization reported that on Saturday, December 13, two prisoners, Hamideh Jabbari (female), 41, from Saveh, and Manouchehr Ramezani, 26, were executed in Qom Prison. Hamideh Jabbari had been arrested four years earlier on charges of murdering her husband, while Mr. Ramezani had been arrested four years ago following a group altercation on charges of murder.

According to the Human Rights Organization, on Wednesday, December 10, two prisoners, Reza Abbasian, 46, and Khalil Fadaei, 28, were executed on murder charges in separate cases in Semnan Prison. On the same day, Salim Afrashteh, 33, was also executed in Dorud Prison on charges of murder.

As of the time of this report, these executions have not been officially announced by prison authorities or relevant institutions.
