Four Inmates Executed in Qom, Sari and Shiraz

In recent days, four inmates were executed in Qom, Sari and Shiraz for murder and drug-related crimes.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, last Wednesday, July 6, 2022, an inmate identified as Mehdi Karimi was executed in Sari prison in Mazandaran Province. He had been convicted of murder and was a barber before the arrest.

Moreover, according to Haal Vsh and Iran Human Rights Organization, on Saturday, July 9, 2022, two inmates convicted of drug-related crimes were executed in Qom Prison. These individuals were identified as Mehrollah Rigi, age 42, and Abolfazl Rahmani, age 38.

Iran Human Rights Organization also reported the execution of an inmate identified as Fardin Zekri, age 34, in Adel-Abad Prison in Shiraz. Zekri was arrested about a year ago and accused of murder.

None of these executions have been reported by the official sources and media outlets inside Iran so far. 

The most recent report from the Statistics and Publication Center of the Human Rights Activists in Iran (HRA) states that between January 1 of 2021 and December 20 of 2021, at least 299 citizens, including four juvenile offenders, were executed. In addition, 85 citizens were sentenced to death in this period. 

As the report points out, Iran’s judicial authorities do not publicly announce over 88% of executions. These unreported executions are known as “secret executions” by human rights organizations.

Two Inmates Executed in Zahedan and Zabol

On  July 7, 2022, two inmates convicted of drug-related crimes were executed in Zabol and Zahedan Prison, Sistan and Baluchestan Province.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Haal Vsh, on Thursday, July 7, 2022, an inmate identified as Behzad Narooie, age 33, was executed in Zahedan Prison. Haal Vsh also reported the execution of an inmate identified as Mohammad Shahi, age 48 in Zabol Prison. He was sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court of Zahedan in 2018.

Mohammad Shahi was arrested for a drug-related crime in 2019.

Both inmates were allowed to have their last family visitation one day before the execution.

These executions have not been reported by the official sources and media outlets inside Iran so far.

Inmate Executed in Gachsaran Prison

On July 6, 2022, an inmate who is convicted of murder was executed in Gachsaran Prison.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, on July 6, 2022, an inmate identified by HRANA as Hadi Moradi was executed in Gachsaran Prison.

This execution has not been reported by the official sources and media outlets inside Iran so far. 

Haal Vsh News also reported that today, in Zahedan Prison, an inmate was relocated to solitary confinement awaiting execution. This inmate has been identified as Behzad Narooie, age 33, who was convicted of drug-related crimes.

Ten Inmates Executed in Rajai Shahr Prison

On Wednesday, June 29, 2022, ten inmates were executed in Rajai Shahr Prison, eight were previously convicted of murder and two of rape.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, the executions of ten inmates were carried out in Rajai Shahr Prison, in Karaj, Alborz Province.

HRANA has identified two inmates as Iman Safari-rad and Mehdi Khlagaldi.

These executions have not been reported by official sources and media outlets inside Iran so far.

On Monday, June 27, 2022, two inmates previously convicted of murder and rape were executed in Central Prison of Karaj, Alborz Province.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Iran Human Rights Organization, on Monday, June 27, 2022, two inmates were executed in the Central Prison of Karaj.

One of the inmates has been identified as Nasrollah Iliad, age 40, was convicted of murder. 

The other inmate was convicted of rape.

Two Inmates Executed in Kerman and Jiroft

Last Thursday, June 23, 2022, an inmate convicted previously of murder was executed in Kerman Prison. One day prior, on June 22, another inmate convicted of murder was also executed in Jiroft, Kerman Province.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Haal Vsh, an Afghan national identified as Jilan Noorzehi was executed in Kerman prison.

Haal Vsh also reported the execution of Yousef Sanjari, a resident of Eslamabad, in Jiroft Prison.

Both were previously sentenced to death on the charge of murder.

Political Prisoner Firooz Musaloo Executed in Urmia Prison

On Monday, June 20, 2022, political prisoner Firooz Musaloo was executed in Urmia Prison. He was taken from the public ward of Urmia Prison to an unidentified location prior to the execution.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, on Monday, June 20, 2022, political prisoner Firooz Musaloo was executed in Urmia Prison.

Musaloo was earlier sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court of Urmia on the charges of “enmity against God (Moharebeh)”, and “membership in one of the anti-regime political parties.”

Yesterday, intelligence-affiliated Fars News Agency, quoting the Chief Justice of West Azerbaijan, claimed an inmate accused of killing two border agents was executed. Although this news agency did not disclose the name and other details, it appears to refer to Mualoo’s execution.

On July 11, 2019, Firooz Musaloo was arrested by IRGC’s Intelligence and transferred to a detention center in Urmia. On January 1, 2020, he was sent to Urmia Prison.

Eight Inmates Executed in Rajai Shahr Prison

On Wednesday, June 15, 2022, eight inmates convicted of murder were executed in Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, the executions of eight inmates were carried out in Rajai Shahr Prison.

Three of these executed inmates have been identified by HRANA as Mohammad Shokri, age 25, Ali Gholami, age 24 and Amir Jafari. They had all been convicted of murder.

Four Inmates Executed in Adel-Abad Prison

Last Sunday, four inmates who were convicted of drug-related crimes and murder were executed in Adel-Abad Prison in Shiraz.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Iran Human Rights Organization, on Sunday, June 12, 2022, four inmates were executed in Adel-Abad Prison in Shiraz.

Three of the inmates have been identified as Fahim Valliollah, an Afghan national, Mojtaba Alinazar, and Ali Karam Kianpour. Reportedly, Mojtaba Alinazar was accused of murder four years ago and Ali Karam Kianpour for the same crime five years ago. Two other prisoners were executed for drug-related crimes.

Last Friday, another inmate, Jomeh Makaki, who was convicted of drug-related crimes, was executed in Shiraz Central Prison.

None of these executions have been reported by official sources and media outlets inside Iran so far.

At least Nine Inmates Executed in Kermanshah, Gorgan and Shiraz

In recent days, the executions of at least nine inmates in prisons across Iran have been reported.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Kurdpa, on Sunday, June 12, 2022, one inmate identified as Mehdi Kiani who was convicted of murder was executed in Kermanshah Prison.

Also, according to Iran Human Rights Organization, on Monday, June 6, 2022, six inmates who were convicted of rape were executed in Gorgan Prison.

Three of these executed inmates have been identified as Jones Jahantigh, Ali Keykhah and Ali Lakzai. Three years ago, they were arrested and convicted of rape. Reportedly, Ali Keykhah was 18 years old at the time of the arrest and his abetting in crime was restricted to providing other defendants with food. 

Iran Human Rights Organization also reports that on Thursday, June 9, an inmate identified as Baba Sabzi, age 44 who was previously convicted of drug-related crimes was executed in Kermanshah.

The Baloch Activists Campaign reports the execution of an inmate identified as Jomeh Makaki in Shiraz on June 12, 2022. Makaki was a resident of Zahedan who was convicted of drug-related crimes five years ago. According to this report, three other unidentified inmates have also been executed in Shiraz Central Prison.
