Soroush Moeinifar Sentenced to Imprisonment and Flogging

The Bukan Criminal Court sentenced Soroush Moeinifar to three years and 40 lashes.

According to this verdict issued by Branch 110 of the Bukan Criminal Court, Moeinifar was sentenced to three years and 40 lashes on the charges of “propaganda against the regime,” “disturbing public order,” and “spreading falsehood.”

Based on Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, one year for one count will be enforceable.

On November 2, 2022, security forces arrested Moeinifar in Bukan, took him to a detention facility and, after two days, jailed him in Bukan prison. He was released on bail after 24 days.

Since the beginning of nationwide protests, about 19560 people, including journalists, artists, lawyers, teachers, students and civil rights activists, have been arrested. So far, over protests, at least 756 people have been sentenced to a total of about 13128 months imprisonment.

 

Children’s Rights Activist Sarvnaz Ahmadi Sentenced to Six Years in Prison

The Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court sentenced children’s rights activist Sarvnaz Ahmadi to six years in prison. If the verdict is upheld on appeal, based on Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, five years in prison for one count will be enforceable.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, Sarvnaz Ahmadi was sentenced to imprisonment.

Ahmadi received five years for “assembly and collusion to act against national security” and one year for “propaganda against the regime.”
Her husband, Kamyar Fakoor, a worker’s rights activist, had also been on trial in this judicial branch on January 4, 2023.

On November 6, 2022, security forces arrested this couple in Tehran and jailed them in Evin Prison. Ahmadi was released on bail on December 7, 2022.

Media Activist Amir Maskani Sentenced to Imprisonment

The Revolutionary Court sentenced Amir Maskani, artist and media activist, to seven months in prison, nine months of suspended imprisonment and paying a fine. Maskani is a resident of Sabzevar, Razavi Khorasan Province.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, media activist Amir Maskani was sentenced to imprisonment and paying a fine.

Maskani received three months for “propaganda against the regime” and thirteen months in prison, of which nine months is suspended, for “inciting people to commit murder and wage war against national security.” He was also fined five million tomans.

The court session was held on November 28, 2022.

Since the beginning of nationwide protests, about 19560 people, including journalists, artists, lawyers, teachers, students and civil rights activists, have been arrested. So far, over protests, at least 756 people have been sentenced to a total of about 13128 months imprisonment.

 

 

Seyed Ali Mousavi Arrested in Gorgan

On January 22, 2023, security forces arrested Seyed Ali Mousavi, a graduate of the Sharif University of Technology, in Gorgan, Golestan Province. The agents took him to an undisclosed location.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, on January 22, 2023, quoting the Iranian Students’ union, Seyed Ali Mousavi was arrested by security forces in Gorgan.

The reasons for this arrest, his whereabouts and the allegation are still unknown.

Physician Reza Rezazadeh Sentenced to Six Months Imprisonment

The Tabriz Revolutionary Court sentenced physician Reza Rezazadeh Parparani to six months in prison and banned him from leaving the country for two years.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, Reza Rezazadeh Parparani was sentenced to imprisonment.

The charges against Rezazadeh are still unknown.

On December 7, 2022, Rezazadeh was arrested after an appearance at the Public and Revolutionary Courthouse in Tabriz. After a while, he was released on bail.

Maryam Derisi Sentenced to over 22 Months in Prison

Maryam Derisi, a Master’s student at the University of Saveh, was sentenced to 22 months and 17 days in prison. Based on Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, 15 months for one count will be enforceable.

According to this verdict issued by the Fars Court of Appeals, Derisi received 15 months and one day for “insulting the Supreme Leader of Iran” and seven months and 16 days for “propaganda against the regime.”

Earlier also, the Kazerun Revolutionary Court sentenced Derisi to one year and 74 lashes for one case and three years for another legal case.
On October 15, 2022, security forces arrested Derisi in Shiraz and jailed her in Adel-Abad Prison. On November 2, she was released on bail.

Arash Sadeghi Sentenced to Five Years and Eight Months in Prison

The Tehran Revolutionary Court sentenced former political prisoner Arash Sadeghi to five years and eight months in prison. Sadeghi was arrested amid nationwide protests.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, Arash Sadeghi was sentenced to five years and eight months imprisonment.

Sadeghi’s lawyer, Ramin Safarnia, announced: “My client was sentenced to five years for ‘assembly and collusion against national security,’ and eight months for ‘propaganda against the regime.’ He was also banned from leaving the country, travelling to Tehran and the Northern provinces for two years. He was also prohibited from membership in social/political parties and groups for two years, and the seizure of some of his belongings.”

On October 12, 2022, security forces arrested Sadeghi and detained him in Ward 209 of Evin Prison. On January 21, 2023, he was released on bail.

Sadeghi faced other arrests and convictions on prior occasions.

Iran Protests: Aram Gohari Arrested for Second Time

Security forces arrested Aram Gohari again in Miandoab and took him to an undisclosed location. He was previously detained in Urmia amid nationwide protests.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, former political prisoner Aram Gohari was arrested in Miandoab, West Azerbaijan Province.
An informed source told HRANA that Gohari wanted to give a speech at the commemoration ceremony of one of the killed protestors.
On June 12, 2022, Gohari was released on probation.
His whereabouts and conditions are still unknown.

Since the beginning of nationwide protests, about 19570 people, including journalists, artists, lawyers, teachers, students and civil rights activists, have been arrested. So far, over protests, about 742 people have been sentenced to a total of 12634 months imprisonment.

 

Iran Protests: Amir Sheibani Zaveh Sentenced to over Eight Years in Prison

The Mashhad Revolutionary Court sentenced Amir Sheibani Zaveh, arrested during nationwide protests, to eight years and six months imprisonment.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, protestor Amir Sheibani Zaveh was sentenced to imprisonment.

Sheibani received four years and six months for “assembly and collusion against the regime,” three years for “membership in anti-regime groups,” and one year for “propaganda against the regime.”

If the verdict is upheld on appeal, based on Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, four years and six months for the first count will be enforceable.

According to Sheibani, “publishing the calls for protests, the pictures of Mahsa Amini and Nika Shakarmi’s burial place on social media, and attending one of the killed protestors’ funeral in Mashhad” was presented in the court as pieces of evidence for the charges.

Since the beginning of nationwide protests, about 19570 people, including journalists, artists, lawyers, teachers, students and civil rights activists, have been arrested. So far, over protests, about 737 people have been sentenced to a total of about 12330 months imprisonment.

 

Three Individuals Arrested in Marivan

IRGC forces arrested Kamal Kiani, Omar Kiani and Aram Kiani in Marivan and took them to an undisclosed location.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Kolbarnews, Kamal, Omar and Aram Kiani, three family members, were arrested by IRGC forces in Marivan.

The allegations against these individuals are still unknown.
