Hossein Ronaghi From Hospital Back to Prison

HRANA News Agency – Political prisoner Hossein Ronaghi Maleki was hospitalized last night at 11:00pm for urethra bleeding but then taken back to Evin Prison from Hasheminejad Hospital immediately.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), on August 8, 2011, Hossein Ronaghi Maleki experienced bleeding due to a kidney infection and had to be hospitalized.However, IRGC interrogators transferred him back to Evin Prison on the same night despite his critical condition and the attending physician’s advice.

IRGC interrogators have demanded a repentance letter from Hossein Ronaghi Maleki accepting the charges against him and have announced that only under such circumstances, he will be given sick leave from prison.

While the prosecutor’s office in Tehran has accepted the request for sick leave, IRGC interrogators continue to prevent Hossein Ronaghi Maleki from leaving the prison and insist on receiving his repentance letter first.

Hossein Ronaghi Maleki has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.  He continues to deny all the charges against him.

Judge Peerabasi who presided over Hossein Ronaghi Maleki’s trial has also interfered with the process evaluating the request for sick leave and has played an important role to delay the order granting him time away from prison for medical care.

 

Sarah Mahboubi, a Baha’i Citizen from Sari , Arrested

HRANA News Agency – On Saturday April 9, 2011, Sarah Mahboubi, a Baha’i college student deprived of an education, was arrested for the second time in a year and transferred to the detention center located at the Intelligence Agency in Sari [the capital of Mazandaran Province, Iran].

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), the intelligence officers of Sari arrested Sarah Mahboubi after searching her family home and seizing books, handwritten notes, CDs and a computer from her residence.

Eight Prisoners Hanged in Fars Province

HRANA News Agency – Eight prisoners convicted of drug related charges were hanged in Fars Province.

According to a report by Public Relations of Fars Province Judiciary, eight prisoners arrested in Abadeh, Nayriz, Kazeron and Boanat counties.After legal proceedings, death sentences were issued for all eight prisoners, and the order to carry out the verdict was confirmed by the prosecutor’s office in Fars Province.

The following prisoners were hanged on charges of smuggling, possessing, buying and selling of narcotics.Some of those hanged also had prior convictions for the same crimes:

  2. Mohammad Reza A.
  3. Abdolrasol T.
  4. Mohsen A.
  5. Ahmad K.
  6. Hadi K.
  7. Masih K.
  8. Mohsen Z.

 

Four Kurdish Prisoners on Hunger Strike in Bijar Prison

HRANA News Agency – Four Kurdish prisoners who have been on hunger strike for nearly two weeks are in critical condition.Following a protest in Marivan Prison on July 25, 2011, four Kurdish activists were transferred to Bijar Prison.They began their hunger strike upon arrival.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), on July 25, 2011, a number of ordinary and political prisoners in Marivan Prison staged a protest, and clashes broke out between intelligence officers and protestors on prison grounds.During these clashes, eight prisoners were beaten by Prison Special Forces.Following this protest, four prisoners were transferred to Bijar Prison, and a number of other prisoners were sent to Ghorveh Prison.

Although two weeks have passed since Hassan Akhtar-Samand, Zakria Khoda-Karam-Zadeh, Sivan Batoneh and Farshad Kamangar began their hunger strike, prison officials have blocked their access to phone and denied them the right to have visitors.

While the families of these political prisoners have no news of their loved ones, the officials have announced that the prisoners will be cut off from the rest of the world as long as they continue their hunger strike.

 

Two Christian Citizens Arrested While Traveling On the New Year Holidays

HRANA NEWS – On Wednesday, March 22, 2011 three citizens who were traveling while the New Year holidays were arrested by intelligence service agents on the road from Salmas to the village of Broshkharan.

According to HRANA Reporters, Iranian Human Rights Agency, Saleh Jahangir Zadeh, son of Saied, from Village of Broshkhara which is a county of Salmas, along Hamid Najafi and his wife, Mahzar Najafi, Christian citizens from city of Karaj who were traveling to this city on the New Year holiday, were arrested by intelligence service agents on Wednesday.

Following this arrest the personal cal of Saleh Jahangir Zadeh has also been seized by intelligence service bureau.

It is important to note that the efforts made by families of those arrested to follow up on their conditions have not been successful so far and 48 hours after their arrest, there is still no information regarding their status and location.

Twenty Two Prisoners Hanged in Evin & Rajai-Shahr

HRANA News Agency – On Sunday, September 18, 2011, twenty two prisoners were hanged in Evin and Rajai-Shahr prisons.These inmates were previously transferred out of Ghazel Hesar Prison.The news of seven other prisoners also executed on Sunday was released yesterday.

Iranian state media has confirmed that twenty two prisoners have been hanged and reported, “The death sentences confirmed by the Attorney General were carried out on prison grounds in Evin and Rajai-Shahr prisons early yesterday morning.”These prisoners were charged with various crimes related to illegal drugs.

The following details about these prisoners have been released:

  1. Mohammad Kh. charged with selling 59 kg opium.
  2. Mohammad N. charged with transporting 480 grams of heroin into prison.
  3. Avaz P. charged with forming a drug trafficking gang and possession of 683 kg opium.
  4. Agha H. charged with membership in a drug trafficking gang and possession of illegal drugs.
  5. Jan B. charged with transporting 425 grams of heroin into prison.
  6. Ali G. charged with transporting 385 grams of crack cocaine into prison.
  7. Sadi C. charged with possession of 908 grams of crack cocaine, 5/7 grams of opium and 15 grams of the burnt leftover of opium.
  8. Esmail M. charged with distributing 150 kg of opium, selling 50 kg of illegal drugs and possessing 20 kg of opium.
  9. Hassan T. charged with transporting 265 grams of compressed heroin blocks into prison.
  10. Mehdi P. charged with possessing 67 kg of crack cocaine and 36 kg of opium.
  11. Mohammad E. charged with helping to transport 702 grams of heroin and distributing 650 grams of compressed heroin blocks into prison.
  12. Abbas A. charged with possessing 2 kg and 200 grams of heroin.
  13. Omaid Kh. charged with selling 4 kg of morphine.
  14. Vahid M. charged with transporting 307 grams of crack cocaine into prison.
  15. Saeid M. charged with helping to transport 1 kg of compressed heroin blocks.
  16. Ali P. charged with transporting 410 grams of compressed heroin blocks into prison.
  17. Shahram Sh. charged with transporting 670 grams of compressed heroin blocks into prison.
  18. Abdol Majid M. charged with transporting 391 grams of compressed heroin blocks into prison.
  19. Karim Q. charged with selling 49 kg and 500 grams of opium.
  20. Majid F. charged with transporting 346 grams of compressed heroin blocks into prison.
  21. Ali N. charged with transporting 420 grams of compressed heroin blocks into prison.
  22. Hatam M. charged with transporting 290 grams of compressed heroin blocks into prison.

Political Prisoner Mashallah Haeri Hospitalized

HRANA News Agency – On Thursday, August 4, 2011, political prisoner Mashallah Haeri who has been locked up in Rajai-Shahr Prison, Ward 4, was hospitalized due to deteriorating health.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Mashallah Haeri is one of the political prisoners from 1980’s.He suffers from heart and respiratory problems.Mashallah Haeri, 58, has had two heart attacks thus far and can’t bear prison conditions.

Judge Moghiseh presiding over the Revolutionary Court, Branch 28, sentenced Mashallah Haeri to 15 years in prison and also exiled him to serve this term at Rajai-Shahr Prison.

Dismissal of all Baha’i Employees of Achilandoor Company

HRANA News Agency – While more than two months have passed since the CEO and five employees of Achilandoor Company were detained by IRGC [Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps] intelligence officers, in the last few days, all Baha’i employees and workers of this company in the cities of Tehran and Mashhad have been fired following an order issued by the Intelligence Office of IRGC.

Seven Prisoners Hanged in Rajai-Shahr Prison

HRANA News Agency – Seven prisoners were hanged early this morning in Rajai-Shahr Prison.In recent days, these individuals had been transferred from Ghazel Hesar Prison to solitary confinement in Ward 1 of Rajai-Shahr Prison.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists for Democracy in Iran, on Thursday, September 15, 2011, seven prisoners were transferred from Ward 2 in Ghazel Hesar Prison to Ward 1 of Rajai-Shahr Prison.Since then, they have been waiting for their execution orders to be carried out.On Sunday, September 18, 2011, these seven prisoners were hanged in Rajai-Shahr Prison.

Charges and details of legal proceedings against these prisoners have not been mentioned in the report, and Iranian judicial authorities have been silent regarding these hangings.

On Saturday, September 17, 2011, twenty other prisoners awaiting execution met with their families in Evin Prison.These prisoners were transferred from Ward 2 in Ghazel Hesar Prison to isolation cells in Evin Prison last week.

 

Abbas Tavakoli Borazjani’s Death Sentence Upheld

HRANA News Agency – Since Iranian Supreme Court has upheld the verdict to hang Abbas Tavakoli Borazjani, it is possible that he will be executed soon.

Abbas Tavakoli Borazjani is a 38 year old political prisoner locked up in Rajai-Shahr Prison.The decision announced by the Supreme Court was verbally communicated to Abbas Tavakoli Borazjani’s family but has not been given to the prisoner yet.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists for Democracy in Iran, Abbas Tavakoli Borazjani together with his brother, Amir Hussein, was arrested in June 2008 and charged with beating a policeman and carrying a weapon.Abbas is currently behind bars in Rajai-Shahr Prison, Ward 1.Amir Hussein was killed under torture in Tehran’s Shapour Detention Center in July of the same year.

During the last few years, other members of this family have also been arrested.
