Mohsen Rahmani arrested for raising a poster sentenced to 7 years

HRANA News Agency – Activist Mohsen Rahmani who was arrested by security forces for raising a Mir Hossein Mousavi poster at a Hassan Rouhani presidential campaign rally on June 1, 2013, has been sentenced to 7 years imprisonment.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), during imprisonment at Ward 209, Rahmani was under severe pressure and torture. Rahmani’s release was delayed by Ward 209 officials, despite bail having been set and posted, due to his body bearing signs of assault and torture. Another Bahai student expelled from Birjand University

HRANA News Agency – Mazyar Malaki, a student studying machine manufacturing at Birjand University, has been expelled because of his Bahai beliefs.

 

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), he was summoned by the University’s security office and asked to sign a statement that he would not participate in Bahai activities or follow the directions of the Universal House of Justice. When he refused to sign this, he was told that he was barred from the university until further notice, and that the final decision would be communicated to him.

Tens of Arab citizens have been arrested

HRANA News Agency – Security forces have arrested tens of political and civil activists during last week.
 
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), during last week and due to the anniversary of April 2005, tens of Arab citizens who have political and civil arrests on their background have been arrested again.
 
Karim Daihami the human rights activist, said to HRANA’s reporter, “Security forces, have no court order or legal document and rush into the houses, terrorize the inhabitants and arrest activists at night or dawn”.
 
Some details of some of the known detainees are as below:
 

  1. Abdulkarim Zargani, for religious activities, from Zargan area, on Wednesday, April 9
  2. Jaber Sakhravi, resident of Kouy-Alavi of Ahvaz city, Tuesday, April 8
  3. Jasem Zargani, son of Aboud, married and has two children, from Zargan area, Wednesday, April 9
  4. Mohammad Zargani, son of Hamid, married and has one child, from Zargan area, Wednesday, April 9
  5. Hossain Zargani, son of Shaker, from Zargan area, Wednesday, April 9
  6. Aref Sarkhi, from Kooy-e-Malashiyah, Wednesday, April 9, 5am
  7. Mehdi Halfi, from Kooy-e-Alavi of Ahvzaz city, on Tuesday, April 8
  8. Ali Dabeh Hovaizeh, son of Karim, from Kooy-e-Alavi, Thursday, April 10
  9. Reza Zargani, son of Gaeid,from Zargan area, Wednesday, April 9

An Iranian-American receives 10 years in prison verdict

HRANA News Agency – The lawyer of Amir Hekmati, the Iranian-American citizen, confirmed that he has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
 
Mahmoud Alizadeh, in an interview with ISNA News Agency, stated that the court of appeal has confirmed the sentence. According to Mr. Alizadeh, Amir Hekmati who is in detainee now has been charged with espionage and cooperation with conflicting country of USA.
 
Mr. Hekmati was arrested and charged with espionage in summer 2011, during a trip to visit his grandmother.
 
The Revolutionary court sentenced him to death but later the Supreme Court ordered for his retrial.

Baluch political prisoners are deprived of prison services

HRANA News Agency – Some of Baluch political prisoners of central prison of Zahedan, are deprived of prison services, as a consequence of writing letter to UN and EU (High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy).
 
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Abed Bampoori, Eshagh Kalkoli and some other prisoners who had written appeal letter to Catherine Ashton last March, are deprived of all prison services like furlough and phone call. Court prevents lawyer from accessing files of five Sunni prisoners

HRANA News Agency – Branch 28 of the Revolutionary court in Tehran has prevented a lawyer from accessing the files of five Sunni prisoners sentenced to death in Iran, under the pretext that the cases are ‘secret and confidential’.

 

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), the families of the prisoners had tried to appoint a leading Iranian lawyer, Mr Ehsan Mazin, to be involved in the defense of the five death-row prisoners. HRANA News Agency – Hassan Javani, the aged and sick prisoner of central prison of Bandar Abbas, was transferred to suit number 5 of the prison.
 
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), this 57 years old prisoner of Bandar Abbas prison, who is suffering from heart disease, prostate and hemorrhoid problem, has been transferred to suit number 5 of the prison, on April 1. 2 Kurdish prisoners on hunger strike in Tabas Prison

HRANA News Agency – Fakhroddin Faraji who has started his hunger strike in support of Mohammad Amin Abdullahi, was beaten and transferred to solitary confinement.
