Latest Status of Political Prison Jaber Sakhravi in Sheiban Prison, Ahvaz

Jaber Sakhravi, a political prisoner held in Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz has recently suffered a stroke but he has been denied transfer to a hospital in Ahvaz for a physiotherapy session due to opposition from the Ministry of Intelligence.

A source close to the political prisoner’s family told HRANA: “Mr. Sakhravi had a stroke 10 days ago and was hospitalized in Golestan Hospital for two days. Despite doctors’ recommendations for continued treatment, he was returned to Ward 5 of Sheiban Prison. Doctors have prescribed 12 physiotherapy sessions for his recovery, but the Ministry of Intelligence of Ahvaz is preventing his transfer to the hospital. As a result, the first physiotherapy session, scheduled for Monday, July 22, at Golestan Hospital, did not take place.”

According to information received by HRANA, in addition to suffering from a stroke that has slowed and slurred his speech, Mr. Sakhravi also suffers from multiple sclerosis (MS), right leg paralysis, testicular swelling, and stomach pain. Despite his family providing the necessary medications, prison officials refuse to deliver them to him.

Sakhravi is in his tenth year of imprisonment in Sheiban Prison, Ahvaz. HRANA has previously reported on his latest status.

Sakhravi was sentenced by “Judge Sha’bouni” at the Ahvaz Revolutionary Court to 14 years and six months of imprisonment on the charge of “acting against national security through moharebeh (enmity against God).” This sentence was later reduced to 12 years and five months by Branch 16 of the Ahvaz Court of Appeals

The Appeal Court of 11 Arab Activists Was Held in Ahvaz

HRANA News Agency – The appeal court session of 11 Arab political activists was held in branch number 16 of Ahvaz appeal court by Judge Saeid Koosha. These civilians had been previously sentenced to long term prison sentences, in branch number 4 of the revolutionary court by Judge Shabooni. The sentences of 2 of them have been issued and submitted to them.

Jaber Sakhravi’s Sentence Reduced to 12 Years and 5 Months

HRANA News Agency – Jaber Sakhravi’s sentence of 14 years and six months imprisonment was reduced to 12 years and 5 months by branch 16 of the Court of Appeal in Ahwaz. However, after two strokes, general health condition of Jaber Sakhravi in Shiban prison in Ahwaz has been reported as inappropriate.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), the prison sentence for Jaber Sakhravi, Arab citizen who was sentenced to 14 years and six months imprisonment by the primary court was reduced by branch 16 of the Court of Appeal in Ahwaz, presided by Judge “Said Kosha” to 12 years and five months. Jaber Sakhravi; In Urgent Need of Medical Treatment in Shayban Prison

HRANA News Agency – After two strokes, the condition of Jaber Sakhravi, 30-year-old security prisoner of Shayban prison in Ahvaz, is reported to be critical. He is serving his 14 years and 6 months in prison, since 2014.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Jaber Sakhravi, son of Gahami, 30 years old and graduated of computer science, is a resident of Kouy Alavi in Ahvaz, who was arrested by the security forces in Khashayar Street of Ahvaz, on March 24, 2014. Sunni convert with a brain tumor deprived of medical treatment

HRANA News Agency – A Sunni convert from Iran’s Ahwazi Arab minority currently detained in Karoun Prison in Ahwaz is being deprived of adequate medical treatment by prison authorities, despite suffering from a brain tumor.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), prison authorities have refused to transfer 30-year old Jaber Sakhravi, whose condition is deteriorating, to a hospital outside of the prison where he can receive adequate medical treatment. Sunni converts tortured in detention, health deteriorating, Iran

HRANA News Agency – Two men from Iran’s Ahwazi Arab minority who were arrested in Iran earlier this year after converting from Shi’ism to Sunni Islam were reportedly subjected to severe torture whilst held in the Ministry of Intelligence detention center in Ahwaz.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), one of the men, 30-year old Jaber Sakhravi, who is a computer-science graduate, was arrested in Koye Alawi in Ahwaz (Hay al-Thawra district) on 8 April 2014 and transferred to the Ministry of Intelligence detention center in Ahwaz. Tens of Arab citizens have been arrested

HRANA News Agency – Security forces have arrested tens of political and civil activists during last week.
 
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), during last week and due to the anniversary of April 2005, tens of Arab citizens who have political and civil arrests on their background have been arrested again.
 
Karim Daihami the human rights activist, said to HRANA’s reporter, “Security forces, have no court order or legal document and rush into the houses, terrorize the inhabitants and arrest activists at night or dawn”.
