Baha’i Citizens interrogated upon return to Iran

HRANA News Agency – In the past few months, a number of Baha’i citizens have been interrogated by the authorities after returning to Iran from Turkey.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Iranian intelligent officers have questioned Baha’i citizens at the airport and inspected their belongings in different occasions.

Blogger Kaveh Taheri sentenced to three years

HRANA News Agency – The Iranian blogger Kaveh Taheri has been sentenced to 3 years in prison for propaganda against the regime.  In a separate charge, a bail approximately equivalent to $50,000 has also been set for him.
According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Taheri is being held in Adel Abad Prison in Shiraz.  Presiding over the first branch of the Revolutionary Court, Judge Mahmoud Sadati handed down the maximum penalty allowed, sentencing Taheri to three years in prison on charges of insulting the Supreme Leader and propaganda against the regime with the intent to benefit the opposition groups. Mokhtar Asadi kept in exile despite court ruling

HRANA News Agency – Iranian security and intelligence officers have so far ignored a ruling issued by an Iranian court to end Mokhtar Asadi’s exile.  Asadi is a Kurdish teacher and a member of Teachers Association of Iran as well as Teachers Association of Kurdistan. Two Baha’i sisters denied full access at Mashhad exhibition

HRANA News Agency – Two Baha’i sisters Nika and Nava Kholoosi have been denied access to fully participate in flower exhibitions held in Mashhad.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Nika and Nava Kholoosi are two young Baha’i sisters who were behind bars for six months and released in March 2013 after posting bail.  While waiting for their verdicts, they rented a booth at Mashhad International Exhibition Center to participate in the annual plant and flower exhibition which starts on May 15 and runs until May 19, 2013. Authorities deny medical treatment to Mohammad Reza Pour-Shajari

HRANA News Agency – Although doctors have recommended urgent medical treatment for Mohammad Reza Pour-Shajari, the authorities are preventing his transfer to a hospital outside the prison.  Pour-Shajari (Siamak Mehr) is a imprisoned blogger and a political activist.
According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), two doctors, Gholizade and Nejadbahram, at Karaj central prison have recommended Pour-Shajari to be hospitalized immediately because of his serious breathing problems since two weeks ago. Kurdish prisoner refused to go to hospital in protest

HRANA News Agency – Naseh Yousefi, a Kurdish political prisoner in Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj, has refused to go to the hospital in protest to being insulted by prison authorities who required him to wear a prison uniform and placed in handcuffs and shackles prior to his transfer.

Zahra Mansouri has to return to prison

HRANA News Agency – The political prisoner Zahra (Mahboubeh) Mansouri has been summoned to return to Evin Prison.  Mansouri is currently on medical furlough, receiving chemotherapy.

Prisoners of Ghezel Hesar ended their hunger strike

HRANA News Agency – Following a promise made by the authorities to grant the inmates their demands, 2100 prisoners ended their hunger strike in Ghezel Hesar.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), the prisoners in Wards 1, 2 and 3, Section 2, were on hunger strike to protest the assignment of a former officer as the new chief of the section.  The prisoners have also demanded access to basic facilities throughout the prison and objected to being left in a state of limbo without due process.
