Two Political Prisoners in Evin Transferred to Hospital

HRANA News Agency – Political prisoners Kobra Amirkhizi and Hussein Ronaghi Maleki were transferred to hospital for urgent medical care.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Hussein Ronaghi Maleki has suffered internal bleeding of kidneys and taken to Hasheminejad Hospital in Tehran.Although this political prisoner has several times been transferred to a hospital outside the prison for infection of and bleeding from kidneys, the authorities refuse to grant him furlough for medical care.
Moreover, Kobra Amirkhizi has undergone an eye operation in Labafinejad Hospital.She was then returned to Evin prison following this surgery.Because of the insanitary condition in prison, this political prisoner is in danger of acquiring an eye infection.However, prison officials refuse to acknowledge such a possibility.

No News on the Condition of Jailed Blogger Rojin Mohammadi

HRANA News Agency – Although one week has passed since Rojin Mohammadi was arrested upon arriving in Iran, nothing is known about her current condition.Rojin Mohammadi is a blogger and medical student at the University of Manila (UM) in Philippines.

It has been reported that Rojin Mohammadi is currently being held in solitary confinement in Ward 2A of Evin Prison.This ward is under the control of Army of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution (IRGC).Thus far, Rojin Mohammadi has been denied access to an attorney and also phone calls or visits with her family.

Iranian judicial and security officials refuse to disclose to her family where in Evin Prison Rojin Mohammadi is being held.Other reports indicate that the prosecutor at the 3rd branch of Evin Court has charged Rojin Mohammadi with conspiracy against national security and propaganda against the regime by the means of human rights activism.

Nine days ago, on November 14, 2011, Rojin Mohammadi flew from Istanbul to Tehran.Upon arriving at Imam Khomeini Airport, she was arrested by Iranian security agents and taken to Evin Prison.She was then released on bail after being detained for 24 hours.Five days later, on November 19, 2011, security agents raided her father’s house in Kermanshah in order to arrest her again.However, since she was not home at the time of the raid, the police failed to take her into custody.

On November 21, 2011, Rojin Mohammadi was summoned by phone to Shahid Moghadasi Court in Evin Prison, and her personal belongings including a computer were confiscated.She was interrogated for 3 consecutive days and finally arrested again on November 23, 2011 and locked up behind bars in Evin Prison.

Three Ahl-e Haqq Prisoners on Hunger Strike in Yazd

HRANA News Agency – Three prisoners who belong to a religious minority commonly known as Ahl-e Haqq began their hunger strike in Yazd Central Prisoners on Sunday, July 24, 2011.

According to a report by Mukrian News Agency and sources close to these prisoners, Sahand Ali Mohammadi, Bakhash Ali Mohammadi and Abadollah Ghasamzadeh are on hunger strike to protest against being retried for unknown reasons.

These three political prisoners are residents of Uch-Tappeh Village located in Miandoab County, West Azerbaijan Province.During the clashes which took place in the city of Miandoab between Ahl-e Haqq followers and Iranian security forces in 2004, Sahand Ali Mohammadi, Bakhash Ali Mohammadi and Abadollah Ghasamzadeh were arrested, tried and sentenced to 13 years in prison. They were also exiled to Yazd Central Prison to serve their sentences.

 

Laleh Hassanpour Arraigned on New Charges in Evin Prison

HRANA- Human rights activist Laleh Hassanpour was summoned by the 3rd Circuit of the Revolutionary Court located in Evin Prison on Wednesday August 18, 2010.

According to HRANA reporters, she was arraigned in court on three new charges without having her lawyer present.Laleh Hassanpour was charged with “insulting the supreme leader”, “insulting the sanctity of Islam”, and “insulting the president”.

An attorney for Laleh Hassanpour tells HRANA that lawyers were not permitted into the courts located in Evin Prison and that they were not present during the proceedings.

Her attorney explained that the prior to the recent charges, Laleh Hassanpour was charged with “acting against national security” for activities related to a campaign against child executions, membership in Human Rights Activists in Iran, and participation in recent unrest.

While in detention, Laleh Hassanpour has been under severe pressure to make a televised confession.

Laleh Hassanpour was arrested on March 16, 2010 at her father’s home in Tehran by Revolutionary Guard intelligence agents and taken to ward 2A in Evin Prison.

Uncertainty About the Continued Detainment of Three Founders of a Cultural Association

HRA News Agency – After four months of detainment, three members of a cultural association, named Dr. Ebrahim Babayi, Mehdi Kouhan, and Mohsen SadeghiNoorare, are still being kept at Evin Prison under uncertain circumstances. According to the information received by HRANA reporters, after the public protests of December 27 of this year on the occasion of Ashura, 16 members of a cultural association, known as “The Children of the Great Iran,” were arrested in Tehran by the officials of the Ministry of Information and transferred to Evin Prison Division 209. The interrogators subjected them to beatings and mistreatment.

Nine Political Prisoners on Hunger Strike in Yazd Prison

HRANA News Agency – On Tuesday, November 22, 2011, nine political prisoners in Yazd Prison began their hunger strike to protest against being locked up together with ordinary inmates and also the inappropriate behavior of prison officials towards political prisoners.

Hussein Ronaghi Malaki Suffers Internal Bleeding

HRANA News Agency – Hussein Ronaghi Malaki, a political prisoner locked up in Evin, has suffered internal bleeding, and his condition is deteriorating fast.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Hussein Ronaghi Malaki’s health is worsening as he is denied proper medical care in prison.Meanwhile Malaki has suffered internal bleeding indicated by the presence of blood in his urine.

This political prisoner has recently undergone another kidney operation for the third time.Physicians have recommended furlough for him in order to receive proper medical care.However, Iranian authorities have refused to release him temporarily and transferred him back to Evin Prison following his most recent surgery.

Delayed medical care and appalling prison conditions are responsible for Malaki’s deteriorating health and might cost this political prisoner his life.

Police Violently Attack the Families of Political Prisoners

HRANA- State security forces threatened the families of political prisoners on hunger strike in Evin Prison for the last ten days with arrest and prevented them from gathering in front of Tehran’s judiciary.

Kalame reports that anti-riot police attacked the families gathering in front of the main door of Tehran’s judiciary with batons. They forcefully confiscated pictures of the political prisoners, tearing them to pieces and verbally abusing the mothers of the prisoners.
