Detention orders of three Bahais in Mashhad extended

HRANA News Agency – The temporary detention of three Bahais from Mashhad who have been held without trial since June 1 has been extended for another month.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Mey Khalusi, Dari Amri and Shayan Tafazoli were arrested in the home of May Khalusi, and were at first held in Ministry of Intelligence interrogation facilities in Mashhad. Sunni Muslims prevented from holding Eid prayers in Tehran

HRANA News Agency – Sunni Muslims were barred from holding congregational Eid prayers in parts of Tehran yesterday, with security forces preventing them from entering buildings they had rented for prayer.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), security forces were deployed early in the morning around Sunni prayer sites in parts of Tehran on 5 October 2014, the day Iran celebrated Eid al-Adha, and prevented Sunni Muslims from entering prayer sites in the Sadeghiya district in northwest Tehran, and in Sa’adat Abad, north Tehran. 3 priests were tried in Karaj

Ministry of Interior should co-operate for Sunnis’ Eid prayer

HRANA News Agency – During this week’s Friday prayers ceremony, Sunni Khateeb of Azad-shahr, Maulana Muhammad Hussein Gorgij requested that the Interior Ministry provides the facilities for holding the Eid-e-Ghorban’s pray to Sunni Muslims around the country. He recommended the Interior Ministry avoids unprofessional approach and disrupting the worship ceremony of Sunnis.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), while “Sheykh Altafsir” Maulana Muhammad Hussein Gorgij, expressed his satisfaction about the designation of prayer area (Mosala) to Sunnis in Zahedan, he appreciated “Government of Prudence and Hope” and requested further co-operation. He demanded that government provides designated space for religious ceremonies and facilities for building mosques to Sunnis in other parts of the country. He also requested that government refrain from improper and preferential approach towards Eid-e-Ghorban’s pray and ceremony. Son of Sunni Imam transferred to prison after 3 months solitary

HRANA News Agency – The son of a Sunni Imam has been transferred to prison after three months of detention in solitary confinement in a Ministry of Intelligence detention center in Iran.

Concerns growing for Sunni scholar arrested last month

HRANA News Agency – Concerns are growing for a Sunni scholar who is being held at an unknown location since his arrest more than a month ago in Iran.

A prisoner of conscience has been executed in Iran

HRANA News Agency – Prison officials told the family of Mohsen Amir Aslani that he was executed but, his body has not been delivered to his family.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), the authorities of Rajai Shahr prison say, on Wednesday 24 September, “Mohsen Amir Aslani” prisoner of conscience was executed by hanging on charges of “corruption on earth and heresy in religion”. Shahram Chiniyan Miandavab beaten in prison, again

HRANA News Agency – On September 20, Shahram Chiniyan Miandavab, a Bahai shopkeeper from Tehran who is serving an 8-year sentence, was beaten as he was being taken to a judge because he refuses to wear the standard prison uniform.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), prisoners of conscience in Iran generally do not wear the prison uniform. Mr. Chiniyan is held in block 1 of Rajai Shahr prison, which is reserved for dangerous prisoners.

One of the other prisoners told HRANA that he was summoned to a judge outside the prison, in relation to one of the cases against him that has not been concluded. At the prison gates, the prison guards demanded that he put on prison uniform, which he refused. The guards beat him and stripped him. He was bruised in many places, and was later treated at the prison clinic because of the severity of his injuries. He was also beaten on August 19, by Mr. Amirian, one of the Deputy Directors at the prison, and a number of prison guards, and his clothes were torn.

Mr. Chiniyan was first arrested in March 2009 and released on March 3, 2010, after using his business license as bail. He was sentenced to 70 lashes and 8 years in prison on a charge of insulting Islam, and began serving his sentence, first in Evin prison in Tehran and then in Raja’i Shahr prison, early in March, 2012. On May 28, 2014, he was transferred to section 1 of Raja’i Shahr, where dangerous criminals are kept.

He was punished with one week in solitary from June 25 to July 1, and four days in solitary on August 20, following his first beating by prison guards.

Sunni prisoner awaiting execution transferred to hospital

HRANA News Agency – Barzan Nasrollah Zadeh, a Sunni prisoner of conscience awaiting execution in Iran’s Rajai Shahr prison, was transferred to hospital yesterday following a deterioration in his condition.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), despite doctors saying that Barzan was in urgent need of surgery, he was transferred for an unknown reason back to Rajai Shahr prison within a few hours, without receiving medical treatment.
