Latest Situation of Prisoners in Rajai Shahr Prison: Hunger Strike Continues

HRANA News Agency – An estimated number of 50 political prisoners held in Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj have been transferred to a new and security hall in recent weeks. There are the deprivations which have been imposed on prisoners in this hall where even the toilets are equipped with CCTV cameras. The situation has prompted political prisoners to protest. At least 18 prisoners are on the 25th day of their hunger strike in a critical condition.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), 53 political-security prisoners detained in hall 12 of Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj were transferred to a hall which was previously rebuilt and developed by security forces, with the presence of a large number of prison guards, without prior notice on July 30, 2017. The hall is equipped with a large number of surveillance cameras and surveillance devices, as well as the shields that separate it from the rest of the prison. Political Prisoners of Rajai Shahr Prison Transferred to a New Hall

HRANA News Agency – An estimated number of 50 Political prisoners in Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj have been transferred to a new security ward. In this ward, where even bathrooms are equipped with CCTV cameras, there are more limits for prisoners. This new situation has prompted political prisoners to protest. 12 prisoners have gone on hunger strike and 6 inmates are in solitary confinement. Tensions in this ward continue.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), with the presence of a large number of prison guards, and without prior notice, about 50 political prisoners in Hall 12 of Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj were transferred to a place which has been built from a long time ago by the security forces. This site is equipped with a large number of surveillance cameras and surveillance devices, as well as shields that separate it from the rest of the prison. New Radio Jammer Machines in Rajai Shahr Prison Put Prisoners’ Health at Risk

HRANA News Agency – With the installation of numerous devices of Mobile crushers (Radio Jammer machines), on the roof of Hall 12, the whereabouts of security-political prisoners in Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj, some medical problems, including headaches and dizziness for these prisoners have been more intensive. This issue has caused a number of the prisoners to go to the prison infirmary, in recent days. Prison officials have said the aim of installing this device was to make problems for the illegal phones that might be used by the prisoners. This claim is while the inspection rules and strict controls are used over the political prisoners in the prison.

Fatemeh Musana’s Children at the Brink of Homelessness

HRANA News Agency – Fatemeh Musana, a former political prisoner in the 1980s, was arrested in 2012 again and along with her husband they were sentenced to 15 years imprisonment. His three brothers were executed in the 1980s and while she was only 13 years old, she in the prison along with her mother for 2 and 4 years in the first decade of the Islamic Republic. Fatemeh Musana and her husband, Hassan Sadeghi are currently in prison and businesses of Mr. Sadeghi and their house is being confiscated, which will cut off the source of their income as well as their elderly mother’s and the teenager children’s income and take away their shelter.

The List of Male Prisoners Charged with Muharebeh and Sentenced to between 15 to 20 Years in Prison

HRANA News Agency – According to the changes related to Muharebeh (waging war against god) in the New Islamic Penal Code, those who have been convicted of Muharebeh based on the previous penal code, will now have the possibility for a retrial, commutation and release. Currently tens of prisoners in Iranian prisons are convicted of Muharebeh for different reasons, this includes at least 37 male prisoners who are facing 15 to 20 years of imprisonment. The following is the fourth list published in regards to “Prisoners Convicted of Muharebeh” and is dedicated to these 37 male prisoners. The previously published lists in this series include “Women Convicted of Muharebeh”, “Male Prisoners Sentenced to life in prison”, and “Male Prisoners Sentenced to More than 20 Years in Prison.”

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), there are currently at least thirty-seven male prisoners in Iranian prisons who have been convicted of Muharebeh for different reasons and have been sentenced between 15 to 20 years of imprisonment. Since 2013, According to the changes in regards of Muharebeh in the new Islamic Penal Code, these prisoners could apply for retrial. Many of them could receive commutations and reach their release soon and considering the long prison terms of some of them, it could provide them the possibility of being release. Based on the new Penal Code, adopted in 2013, the charges of “Muharebeh (waging war against god)”, “Mofset-Fil-Arz (Sowing Corruption on earth)” and “Baghi (withdrawing from the obedience of the Islamic religious authority)” under Articles 279 to 288 have been redefined.
