HRANA News Agency – According to the changes related to Muharebeh (waging war against god) in the New Islamic Penal Code, those who have been convicted of Muharebeh based on the previous penal code, will now have the possibility for a retrial, commutation and release. Currently tens of prisoners in Iranian prisons are convicted of Muharebeh for different reasons, this includes at least 37 male prisoners who are facing 15 to 20 years of imprisonment. The following is the fourth list published in regards to “Prisoners Convicted of Muharebeh” and is dedicated to these 37 male prisoners. The previously published lists in this series include “Women Convicted of Muharebeh”, “Male Prisoners Sentenced to life in prison”, and “Male Prisoners Sentenced to More than 20 Years in Prison.”
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), there are currently at least thirty-seven male prisoners in Iranian prisons who have been convicted of Muharebeh for different reasons and have been sentenced between 15 to 20 years of imprisonment. Since 2013, According to the changes in regards of Muharebeh in the new Islamic Penal Code, these prisoners could apply for retrial. Many of them could receive commutations and reach their release soon and considering the long prison terms of some of them, it could provide them the possibility of being release. Based on the new Penal Code, adopted in 2013, the charges of “Muharebeh (waging war against god)”, “Mofset-Fil-Arz (Sowing Corruption on earth)” and “Baghi (withdrawing from the obedience of the Islamic religious authority)” under Articles 279 to 288 have been redefined. HRANA News Agency – The sentence of 10 years imprisonment of Kamal Hassan Ramazan, Syrian political prisoner in Orumiyeh Central Prison was reduced to seven years and six months and one day by using the “submit vote” and applying Article 442.

HRANA News Agency – Once again, disrespect for non-compliance with the principle of separation based on the kind of crime, has made problems for political prisoners. Two political prisoners in Urmia prison, “Mustafa Sabzi” and “Ali Yeganeh” were beaten and stabbed by the prisoners of serious crimes.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Mustafa Sabzi and Ali Yeganeh, two political prisoners in Urmia prison, ward 13, which is reserved for prisoners with serious crimes, including drugs and murder, were beaten and stabbed by other prisoners of this ward and their faces have been seriously injured, on 11th April. HRANA News Agency – A List of 27 political prisoners of Urmia Prison who are held in ordinary wards, on contrary of principal of separation of prisoners according to the (alleged) crimes, is released.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), a number of political prisoners who are serving imprisonment along with those convicted of drug and violent crimes have repeatedly been beaten by them in addition to the overcrowding hygienic condition. Their frequent protests for being transferred to the political ward have not been successful so far. HRANA News Agency – The following list includes the names of prisoners of conscience and political prisoners in Ormia whose sentences in total regardless of pending cases, is up to 260 years in prison and five death row prisoners included. However, except a few cases (three Baha’is, a spy and one convicted after the elections in 2009), the majority of these prisoners have been alleged with holding connection, supporting or being active member of one of the Kurdish parties, and have been arrested, so that, only a brief mention of “cooperation with the Kurdish opposition” refers to this type of accusations. It should be noted that the following list is a primary list and probably will be updated with more information.
