The List of Male Prisoners Charged with Muharebeh and Sentenced to between 15 to 20 Years in Prison

HRANA News Agency – According to the changes related to Muharebeh (waging war against god) in the New Islamic Penal Code, those who have been convicted of Muharebeh based on the previous penal code, will now have the possibility for a retrial, commutation and release. Currently tens of prisoners in Iranian prisons are convicted of Muharebeh for different reasons, this includes at least 37 male prisoners who are facing 15 to 20 years of imprisonment. The following is the fourth list published in regards to “Prisoners Convicted of Muharebeh” and is dedicated to these 37 male prisoners. The previously published lists in this series include “Women Convicted of Muharebeh”, “Male Prisoners Sentenced to life in prison”, and “Male Prisoners Sentenced to More than 20 Years in Prison.”

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), there are currently at least thirty-seven male prisoners in Iranian prisons who have been convicted of Muharebeh for different reasons and have been sentenced between 15 to 20 years of imprisonment. Since 2013, According to the changes in regards of Muharebeh in the new Islamic Penal Code, these prisoners could apply for retrial. Many of them could receive commutations and reach their release soon and considering the long prison terms of some of them, it could provide them the possibility of being release. Based on the new Penal Code, adopted in 2013, the charges of “Muharebeh (waging war against god)”, “Mofset-Fil-Arz (Sowing Corruption on earth)” and “Baghi (withdrawing from the obedience of the Islamic religious authority)” under Articles 279 to 288 have been redefined. Ahmad Karimi Beginning the 8th Year of Imprisonment

HRANA News Agency – Ahmad Karimi, political prisoner is about to start the eighth year of his imprisonment in Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj, while he has not had any furlough during this period of time. Mr. Karimi is in an uncertain situation waiting for the outcome of his appeal.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), the appeal made by Ahmad Karimi, political prisoner in Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj who have been arrested in March 2009, is being treated by the Tehran prosecutor. Peyman Arefi In A Critical Psychological Condition In Rajai Shahr Prison

HRANA News Agency – Following the disagreement of judicial and security institutions with the possibility of the furlough of Peyman (Amirreza) Arefi, political prisoner in Rajai Shahr prison, he is in a bad mental mood.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), the lack of furlough due to the death of his mother and wife that occurred earlier, had made the conditions of prison very difficult for this political prisoner. The List Of Over 80 Political Prisoners In Rajai Shahr Prison In Karaj

HRANA News Agency – The following list includes names, warrants and charges of more than 80 political prisoners, prisoners of conscience and security in Rajai Shahr prison which has been prepared by the reporters of HRANA.
A diverse range of prisoners charged with political, conscience, military and security allegations are being held in Rajai Shahr prison. Although many of these prisoners are kept in separate rooms in Hall 12 but a large number of these prisoners are being kept also between non-political, criminals and sometimes dangerous prisoners unlike the principle of separation of crimes. A political prisoner’s mother and wife died in a car accident

HRANA News Agency – Nahid Rahmani and Ziba Sadegh Zadeh, the mother and wife of the political prisoner, Payman (Amirreza) Arefi died on the way back home from visit, in a car accident.
 
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), earlier in an interview with HRANA, the mother of Payman Arefi, who resided in Tehran, had stated that she was concerned about this prisoner’s exile to Masjed-Soliman prison.
 
Payman Arefi was arrested on May 2009, on charge of supporting monarchical society. First he was sentenced to death but the appeal court the sentenced him to 15 years in prison.
 
This political prisoner, align with his cousin, Arash Rahmani who was executed in 2010, were put to the post-election mass trial court, as a street rioter who was contemplating for armed action against national security and Islamic Republic, while they had been arrested before 2009 election.
 
Ziba Sadegh Zadeh, herself was arrested with Payman Arefi, and spent some times in ward 209 of Evin prison and had been interrogated. Payman Arefi has announced in a letter from prison that he had confessed against himself to make her wife be released.
