Five Inmates Arrested in Khorramabad, Shiraz, and Bandar-Abbas

On August 27 and 28, 2022, five inmates convicted of murder and drug-related crimes were executed in Khorramabad, Bandar-Abbas, and Adel-Abad Prisons.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, on August 27, the authorities of Khorramabad Prison executed an inmate identified as Omid Ali Gravand who previously was convicted of murder.

According to Haal Vsh, on August 28, two inmates convicted of drug-related crimes were executed in Adel-Abad Prison in Shiraz. These inmates have been identified as Rahim Ghanbarzehi, 40, and an Afghan national Mojtaba Khademinejad, 37.

Haal Vsh also reported the execution of two inmates identified as Saeed Sabaki, 27, and Esmail Bargirzan, 28, in Bandar Abbas Prison. Both individuals were convicted of drug-related crimes in 2018.

These executions have not been reported by official sources and media outlets inside Iran so far.

Five Inmates Executed in Rajai-Shahr Prison

On August 24, 2022, in separate legal cases, five inmates convicted of murder were executed in Rajai Shahr Prison.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, on August 24, 2022, quoting Rokna News, the authorities of Rajai-Shahr Prison executed five inmates.

All these individuals were executed because they were unable to convince the victims’ families to spare their lives. So far, two of them have been identified as Mohammad-Reza Sharamfar and Hadi Jozei.

Four Inmates Executed in Neyshabur and Shiraz

On August 23, 2022, an inmate convicted of murder was executed in Neyshabur Prison in Khorasan Province. On August 21, the authorities at Adel-Abad Prison executed three inmates, including a female convict.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Iran Human Rights Organization, on August 23, 2022, an inmate identified as Ahmad Karami, age 37, was executed in Neyshabur Prison.

An informed source said that Karami had been convicted of murder.

Similarly, on August 21, two men identified as Fariborz Jamei, convicted of drug-related crimes, Hossein Mohseni, convicted of murder, and one unidentified woman were executed in Adel-Abad Prison in Shiraz.

Neither of the executions has been reported by official sources and media outlets inside Iran so far.

Two Inmates Executed in Qazvin and Isfahan

On August 22, 2022, an inmate convicted of drug-related crimes was executed in Qazvin Prison. On the same day, the authorities of Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan executed an inmate who was convicted of murder.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Iran Human Rights Organization, on August 22, 2022, in Qazvin, the prison authorities executed an inmate identified as Abolfazl Sharifi, age 29, who was convicted of drug-related crimes.

Iran Human Rights Organization also reported the execution of an inmate identified as Saeed Kamali, age 24, in Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan Province. Kamali was sentenced to death for murder. He was 19 at the time of committing the crime.

These executions have not been reported by official sources and media outlets inside Iran so far.

Five Inmates Executed in Yazd Central Prison

On August 18, 2022, Yazd Central Prison authorities executed five inmates.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Haal Vsh, on August 18, 2022, five prisoners identified as Amir Shahiki, 23, Abbas Mousavi, Hamid Narooie, 45, Khodarahm Narooie, 43 and Saeed Kashani, 46, were executed in Yazd CentralPrison.

Hamid and Khodarahm Narooie were sentenced to death for drug smuggling in 2014. Shahiki and Mousavi were convicted of murder. 

These executions have not been reported by official sources and media outlets inside Iran so far.

Four Inmates Executed in Arak Prison

In the second round of executions in Arak Prison, on August 14, 2022, four inmates convicted of drug-related crimes were executed.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, on August 14, 2022, Arak Prison authorities executed four inmates. They had also taken two death-row convicts to solitary confinement for imminent execution, which was not carried out.

These executions have not been reported by official sources and media outlets inside Iran so far.

Two Inmates Executed in Saveh Prison

On August 10, 2022, two inmates who were convicted of drug-related crimes were executed in Saveh Prison, Markazi Province.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Iran Human Rights Organization, on August 10, 2022, in Saweh Prison, officials executed two inmates identified as Hossein Bagherpour Sarabi, age 38, and Milad Badrkhani, age 25.

These prisoners were arrested and convicted in 2019.

These executions have not been reported by official sources and media outlets inside Iran so far. 

 

Four Inmates Executed in Arak Prison

On August 10, 2022, prison officials executed four inmates in Arak Prison.

Earlier, HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, had reported the execution of one of these inmates identified as 37-year-old Mehdi Noor-Karami (Variation: Noor- Ghadami).

According to HRANA, four inmates were executed in Arak Prison.

HRANA has identified one of the inmates as Mehdi Noor-Karami (Noor-Ghadami), age 37.

An informed source close to Noor-Karami’s family told HRANA that in 2018, Noor-Karami was arrested for drug-related crimes and sentenced to death. 

Prior to execution, these inmates were not granted phone calls or family visits. 

These executions have not been reported by official sources and media outlets inside Iran so far.

Two Inmates Executed in Arak and Qom Prisons

On August 10, 2022, an inmate convicted of drug-related crimes was executed in Arak Prison and another was executed in Langerud Prison in Qom.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists,  prison officials at Arak Prison executed an inmate who was convicted of drug-related crimes.

HRANA has identified the individual as Mehdi Noor-Karami (Ghadami), 37. 

Haal Vsh also reported the execution of an Afghan nation identified as Hossein Alizadeh, age 21, in Langerud Prison in Qom. Alizadeh was convicted of murder.

These executions have not been reported by the official sources and media outlets inside Iran so far. 

The most recent report from the Statistics and Publication Center of the Human Rights Activists in Iran (HRA) states that between January 1 of 2021 and December 20 of 2021, at least 299 citizens, including four juvenile offenders, were executed. In addition, 85 citizens were sentenced to death in this period. 

As the report points out, Iran’s judicial authorities do not publicly announce over 88% of executions. These unreported executions are known as “secret executions” by human rights organizations.

Two Inmates Executed in Qom Prison

On August 6, 2022, prison officials executed one inmate convicted of drug-related crimes and murder in Qom Central Prison. Last week, on August 1, another inmate convicted of murder was also executed in Qom Central Prison.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Iran Human Rights Organization, on August 6, 2022, an inmate identified as Ali Qarehlu was executed in Qom Central Prison.

Qarehlu was sentenced to death for murder and drug smuggling charges. On August 1, an inmate identified as Mojtaba Ramin who was convicted of murder was also executed in this prison.

Moreover, two other inmates of this prison Mehdi Shahpasand and Hossein Ziari are transferred to solitary confinement awaiting imminent execution. Both had been sentenced to death on drug-related charges.

 In a recent video which became viral on social media, prisoners of Qom prison asked the public for help to stop the new wave of executions in this prison.
