New trial for Mohammad Ali Taheri

HRANA News Agency – last week, Mohammad Ali Taheri was summoned to the court from Solitary Confinement at Ward 2-A of Evin Prison while he was on hunger strike and was suffering from extreme weakness.

According to the report of HRANA, quoting from a close news site to Mohammad Ali Taheri, last week, while Mr Taheri was in extreme state of weakness due to his second week of hunger strike, he was summoned to the court from solitary confinement at Ward 2-A of Evin Prison. Pardon, freedom and merger of conviction for 4 Political Prisoners

HRANA News Agency – Behzad (Hossein) Asiaie and Kaveh Rahimi who had to serve the remaining 5 months of their sentence in prison have been pardoned. Hamidreza Yazdani received one year pardon and Safa Daneh received a one year reduction of his sentence through Merger of Conviction.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), on Sunday, Behzad ( Hossein) Asiaie and Kaveh Rahimi were notified of the pardon given to them and have been told that their remaining 5 month sentence is forgiven . Adnan Rahmat-Penah begins one-year sentence in Shiraz

HRANA News Agency – Adnan Rahmat-Penah, a Bahai from Shiraz, reported to Adel-Abad prison on November 11, to begin serving a one-year sentence.

Bahais join demonstration in support of Nasrin Sotoudeh

HRANA News Agency – On November 10, Bahai students who have been excluded from tertiary education joined the Iranian civil rights lawyer Nasrin Sotoudeh in her three-week-old demonstration in front of the Bar Association building in Tehran.

Iran sentences Sunni Iraqi man to 33 years in prison

HRANA News Agency – Iran’s Supreme Court has confirmed a 33-year prison sentence for a Sunni Iraqi man on charges of ‘Moharabeh’ [enmity against God].

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Marivan Abdolkarim Reza, a devout Sunni Muslim originally from Kirkuk in Iraq, was sentenced to 33 years imprisonment by Branch 28 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court. Afshin Baimani transferred to solitary confinement

HRANA News Agency – Afshin Baimani, political prisoner in Hall 12 of Rajai Shahr prison, in Karaj, was transferred to solitary confinement.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), on 8th November, at 11 o’clock Afshin Baimani was transferred to solitary confinement in ward 5 of Rajai Shahr prison.
In this regard, one of the inmates told HRANA’s reporter: “At first, Afshin Baimany was asked to go upstairs as the head of ward 4, Reisi, want to see him, which was used as a pretext. Upon his presence, he was taken to the inspection office of the prison and then from there he was transferred to cell in ward 5 and so far officials have refused to send his warm clothes and heart medicines”.
Also, he added: “At 11.30, prison officials also asked Arjang Davoodi to go to the inspection office but due to his illness he refused”. Arjang Davoudi was supposed to go to the inspection office on the day after and he was then transferred to the cell, as well.
Afshin Baimani, Political Prisoner, was arrested on September 5, 2000 on charges of helping his brother, Mehdi Baimani, to escape and had been sentenced to death.
The court verdict was upheld on appeal court, but after 6 years his sentence commuted to life imprisonment.
