Eight Prisoners Executed in Various Prisons Across Iran

On November 4 and 5, eight prisoners were executed in the prisons of Kahnuj, Hamedan, Yazd, and Adelabad in Shiraz.

According to HRANA, on November 4, Mansour Rastakhiz was executed in Kahnuj Prison on a murder charge. That same day, Alireza Jamshidi from Shiraz and Mohammadreza Sotoodeh from Fasa were executed on drug-related charges in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz.

Additionally, in the early hours of November 5, the death sentences of Dariush Saeedi and Hamed Mehraban, both convicted of murder, were carried out. Dariush Saeedi, 32, had been detained five years earlier for a murder committed during a group conflict and was sentenced to death by the judiciary. He was also sentenced to death in a separate case for allegedly killing another inmate during a prison altercation. Hamed Mehraban, 38, was arrested six years ago for the murder of his wife and later sentenced to death by the judiciary.

According to Haal Vsh, three more prisoners were executed at dawn today, November 5, in Yazd Prison. One of the executed individuals was identified as “Mohsen Nejadi Moghaddam (Sabaki),” 30, married with two children, and a resident of Rigan.

The report states that Mr. Nejadi Moghaddam was arrested in 2021 in Yazd on drug-related charges and subsequently sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court in Yazd. On Sunday, he and two other prisoners had been transferred to solitary confinement in Yazd Prison in preparation for their executions.

Prisoner Executed in Kahnuj Prison

Today, October 1, 2024, the execution of a prisoner previously sentenced to death for non-political crimes was carried out in Kahnuj Prison, Kerman province.

HRANA has identified the prisoner as “Abdol Habibi.” He had been sentenced to death by the judiciary for non-political crimes.

Further details are currently under investigation by HRANA.

As of the time of this report, the execution has not been officially announced by prison authorities or relevant institutions.

According to the Department of Statistics and Publication of Human Rights Activists in Iran, in 2023, at least 767 citizens, including 21 women and 2 juvenile offenders, were executed. Of these, the executions of 7 individuals were carried out in public. Additionally, during this period, 172 others were sentenced to death, with 5 of them sentenced to public execution. It is worth noting that during the same period, the initial death sentences of 49 other individuals were also upheld by the Supreme Court.

Prisoner Executed in Kahnuj Prison

The death sentence of a prisoner previously convicted of murder was carried out in Kahnuj Prison.

According to HRANA, quoting Resank, at dawn on Monday, September 9, 2024, a prisoner was executed in Kahnuj Prison. The prisoner has been identified as Abdolkarim Habibi, a 28-year-old Afghan national, married, and father of two children.

According to the report, Mr. Habibi was arrested in 2018 on charges of murder in Jiroft and later sentenced to death by the judiciary.

As of the time of this report, the execution of this prisoner has not been officially announced by prison authorities or relevant institutions.

Ten Inmates Executed in Shiraz, Isfahan, Qaen, Kahnuj

In recent days, ten inmates were executed in various prisons across Iran, including Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan, Qaen Prison, and Adelabad Prison in Shiraz, as well as Kahnuj Prison.

The Iran Human Rights Organization reported the execution of three inmates convicted of murder in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz, on April 21. The executed individuals were identified as Hossein Tavana Kodiani, 49; Taleb Akbari, 43; and Reza Masroor, 43, a father of two.

The first inmate had committed murder four years ago. The second individual was involved in a murder during a fight, while the third, a farmer, committed murder in a dispute over farm water.

According to Haal Vsh, on April 28, 2024, three inmates were executed for drug offenses in Qaen Prison, located in South Khorasan province. Two of the inmates were identified as Mohsen Karami (Rakhshani), 27, and Brahui (first name unknown). Karami was arrested for drug offenses four years ago. A source cited in the report mentioned that these inmates did not have a final visit with their families before their execution.

Haal Vsh also reported the execution of three inmates in Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan, on April 29. One of the individuals was identified as Din-Mohammad Mirakhani, a resident of Iranshahr. All three were convicted of drug offenses.

Lastly, the Baloch Activists Campaign reported the execution of Mehdi Bamari, aged 24, in Kahnuj Prison in Kerman Province. He had been convicted of murder two years ago and was executed on the same day as the other inmates.

No official sources or domestic media outlets within the country have provided coverage of these executions at the time of writing. In 2023, 66% of HRANA’s reports on executions lacked official announcements by judicial authorities and went unreported by media inside Iran, highlighting a troubling lack of transparency in due process.
