Peaceful Demonstrations Turned Violent in Azerbaijan

HRANA News Agency – Peaceful demonstrations by Azerbaijani citizens turned violent when Iranian security forces interfered with a gathering to save Lake Urmia.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), anti-riot police in the city of Tabriz shot tear gas directly at the crowd and injured a number of the protestors.

Oddly enough, plain cloth agents broke the windows of shops and public phone booths in Tabriz.Previously, this behavior had also been observed multiple times in Tehran.

Eye-witnesses have reported that the clashes are still on-going in front of the Constitution House of Tabriz (Khaneh Mashrouteh).Demonstrators are shouting slogans such as “Rise up and cry out Azerbaijan. Give life back to Lake Urmia” and “Lake Urmia dies. Congress orders its demise.”During the clashes with the police, a large number of citizens have been injured.

While the clashes in the city of Urmia are spreading to Ykaneyan Bazaar, Agh Dash and Shapour Gate, the number of those injured are significantly increasing.

HRANA correspondents report that Iranian security forces have stormed the Motahari Hospital to arrest those injured during street clashes.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Shahoo Hosseini, political activist, journalist, teacher, Civic and Cultural activist and student of M.A. in political science from Mahabad was fired from Education Ministry.

Six Kurdish Citizens Were Sentenced to 15 Year in Prison

HRANA News Agency – Six Kurdish Citizens Were Sentenced prison in Mahabad city by the Appeals Court.
According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), quoted from Mokerian News Agency, six Kurdish citizens in Mahabad, Iran: Samko Osmani, Ali Borna, Osman Ghader Nejad, Soleyman Rahimzadeh, Anvar Izad Doust and Mohamad Izad Doust on charges related to National Security were sentenced to prison by the Appeals Court.
Soleyman Rahimzadeh were sentenced to 4 year in prison, Ali Borna an Osman Ghader Nejad 4 years for each, Anvar and Mohamad Izad Doust, 4 year for each and Samko, 1.5 year.
 

At least six Iranian Baluch Illegal Traders were killed by Iranian Border Police

HRANA News Agency – Iranian Border Police fired at a group of Baluch Illegal Traders, killed at least six of them and injured the rest, last week, near Sarbaz city.
According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), in this night attack Iranian border police killed at least six of them who their names are: Shahdad Salahzehi, Esmail Sanjarzehi, Shanbeh Sanjarzehi, Mohamad Sanjarzehi and Mohamad Rahmanzehi.

No information about five Kurdish political prisoners from Urmia prison

HRANA News Agency – There is no information about five Kurdish political prisoners from Urmia prison who were transferred to an unknown place, on Thursday, October 11, 2012.
According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), on Thursday, October 11, 2012, five Kurdish political prisoners: Jahangir (Houshang) Badouzadeh,  Ahmad Tamoui, Youcef Kaka Mami, Ali Ahmad Soleiman and Mustafa Ali Ahmad, fro political Ward of Urmia prison were transferred to an unknown place and there is no information about them up to now.

HRANA News Agency – Intelligence and security forces began the arrest of oppositions’ relatives, following the recent explosion in Chabahar.
According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), in reaction to the recent explosion which killed several militia and military forces in a gathering in Chabahar, Security forces began the arrest of oppositions’ relatives in Nikshahr and transferred them to an unknown place.
There is no exact information about these arrests but according to the local sources, in an extended attack, security forces arrested Kheir Mohamad Naroui, Ghalandar Amiri, Mohamad Amin Amiri and the husband of Kheir Mohamad’s sister.

HRANA News Agency –  Iranian Kurdish political prisoner, Saman Nasim (Na’im), from Marivan who has been arrested in 2011, was sentenced to death by Mahabad’s revolutionary court.
According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Saman Nasim was arrested in July 2011 near Iran’s border in Western Azerbaijan province by security forces. His charge is Moharebeh (Enmity against God) via being a member of anti-regime groups. Nasim (Na’im) was sentenced to death by the branch one of Mahabad’s revolutionary court.

HRANA News Agency – Saleh Baduzadeh, An Iranian Kurdish Illegal Trader, was killed by direct shooting of Iranian border police.
According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Saleh Baduzadeh, 25, from Shivan village in Salmas, was killed by direct shooting of Iranian border police on 8 August.
Iranian border police shoot at illegal traders without no warning and it lefts hundreds deaths and injuries of them and their animals in the year. So it needs urgent action of international human rights communities to urge Iranian government to change their diplomacy in this case.
 

Human Rights Activist Karim Rahmani’s Family Pressured & Threatened

HRANA News Agency – Iran’s Intelligence Agency in the city of Kamyaran, Kurdistan Province, has increased pressure on the family of Karim Rahmani and threatened his father repeatedly.Karim (Rebin) Rahmani is a Kurdish human rights activist who was forced to flee Iran after he was released from prison.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), security agents in Kamyaran have summoned Karim Rahmani’s father to the Intelligence Agency several times and have interrogated and pressured him about his son’s political activities.
On November 19, 2006, Karim Rahmani was arrested in Kermanshah and charged with acting against national security because of his political and social activities.He was sentenced to 2 years in prison and locked up in solitary confinement multiple times during this time.Karim Rahmani endured physical and psychological torture while he was behind bars, and once released, he escaped Iran fearing for his life.
Before fleeing Iran, Karim Rahmani was studying Computer Science at Arak University of Science and Industry in Markazi Province.He was expelled from this university after his release from prison.

Continued Arrests in Kurdistan; No News of Kurdish Activists

HRANA News Agency – Last week, Iranian security forces arrested two Kurdish citizens in Mahabad, West Azerbaijan Province.Citing Norooz Website, Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) has reported that Jalal Naseri and Qasem Rahimi have been arrested and taken to the Intelligence Agency’s office in the city of Mahabad.

On Thursday, October 13, 2011, Rahim Bajor was summoned to the Intelligence Agency in the city of Marivan and was detained subsequently.Rahim Bajor is a student in Payam Nur University in Marivan.
Furthermore, another Kurdish student, Khabat Arefi, has been locked up behind bars for more than a month in the Intelligence Agency’s detention center in Marivan, and there has been no news of him thus far.Khabat Arefi is a resident of Chor Village near the city of Marivan.
