Four Inmates Executed in Arak Prison

On August 10, 2022, prison officials executed four inmates in Arak Prison.

Earlier, HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, had reported the execution of one of these inmates identified as 37-year-old Mehdi Noor-Karami (Variation: Noor- Ghadami).

According to HRANA, four inmates were executed in Arak Prison.

HRANA has identified one of the inmates as Mehdi Noor-Karami (Noor-Ghadami), age 37.

An informed source close to Noor-Karami’s family told HRANA that in 2018, Noor-Karami was arrested for drug-related crimes and sentenced to death. 

Prior to execution, these inmates were not granted phone calls or family visits. 

These executions have not been reported by official sources and media outlets inside Iran so far.

Two Inmates Executed in Arak and Qom Prisons

On August 10, 2022, an inmate convicted of drug-related crimes was executed in Arak Prison and another was executed in Langerud Prison in Qom.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists,  prison officials at Arak Prison executed an inmate who was convicted of drug-related crimes.

HRANA has identified the individual as Mehdi Noor-Karami (Ghadami), 37. 

Haal Vsh also reported the execution of an Afghan nation identified as Hossein Alizadeh, age 21, in Langerud Prison in Qom. Alizadeh was convicted of murder.

These executions have not been reported by the official sources and media outlets inside Iran so far.

Two Inmates Executed in Qom Prison

On August 6, 2022, prison officials executed one inmate convicted of drug-related crimes and murder in Qom Central Prison. Last week, on August 1, another inmate convicted of murder was also executed in Qom Central Prison.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Iran Human Rights Organization, on August 6, 2022, an inmate identified as Ali Qarehlu was executed in Qom Central Prison.

Qarehlu was sentenced to death for murder and drug smuggling charges. On August 1, an inmate identified as Mojtaba Ramin who was convicted of murder was also executed in this prison.

Moreover, two other inmates of this prison Mehdi Shahpasand and Hossein Ziari are transferred to solitary confinement awaiting imminent execution. Both had been sentenced to death on drug-related charges.

 In a recent video which became viral on social media, prisoners of Qom prison asked the public for help to stop the new wave of executions in this prison.

Five Inmates Executed in Sanandaj, Bam and Rasht

On July 27 and 28, five inmates convicted of murder were executed in Sanandaj, Bam and Rasht.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Kurdpa, on July 28, 2022, two convicts identified as Hiwa Ahmadi and Payam Yazdani were executed in the Sanandaj Central Prison, Kurdistan Province.

A day prior, on July 27, Snanadaj Prison officials carried out the execution of another prisoner identified as Abdollah Rahimi.

Additionally, Rasank News reported the execution of an inmate identified as Mohammad-Reza Shiahaki in Bam Prison in Kerman Province.

Rokna News also reported that an inmate identified by the initials M.F., age 27, was executed in Lakan Prison, Rasht Province. He was arrested last year for killing a police officer.

Female Afghan National Executed in Rajai-Shahr Prison

On July 27, 2022, a female convict was executed in Rajai-Shahr Prison in Karaj.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, on July 27, 2022, a female inmate was executed in Rajai-Shahr Prison in Karaj.

HRANA has identified this woman as Senobar Jalali, an Afghan national.

An informed source told HRANA that one day before the execution, Jalali had been relocated from Qarchak Prison in Varamin to Rajai Shahr Prison.

This execution has not been reported by the official sources and media outlets inside Iran so far.

Five Inmates Executed in Qom and Shiraz 

On  July 23, 2022, two inmates who were convicted of drug-related crimes in separate legal cases were executed in Adel-Abad Prison in Shiraz. On the same day, three inmates were executed for drug-related crimes in Qom Prison.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Iran Human Rights Organization, on July 23, 2022, two convicts on death row identified as Ali Sabahi and Mohammad Hossein Hasanipour were executed in Adel-Abad Prison.

Sabahi and Hasanipour were arrested for drug smuggling a few years ago.

Haal Vsh reported the execution of three additional inmates convicted of drug-related crimes in one legal case in Qom Prison. Haal Vsh has identified them as Hamed Safa, Ali Mohamad Moradi and Ali Hosseini. Another individual, identified as Bahador Nowruzi was also executed on July 9, 2022.

None of these executions have been reported by the official sources and media outlets inside Iran so far.

Four Convicts Executed in Borujerd, Birjand and Yazd Prisons

Four inmates convicted of murder and drug-related crimes were executed in Borujerd, Birjand, and Yazd Prisons.  

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Haal Vsh, on July 21, 2022, two inmates identified as Zabihllah Barahooi, age 38, and Abdolvahed Qanbarzehi, age 41, were executed in Birjand Prison.

On the same day, a prisoner identified as Heydar Hiboorzadeh, age 29, was executed in Yazd Central Prison.

Iran Human Rights Organization also reported the execution of Payman Goodarzi, age 27, on July 11, 2022, in Borujerd.

Three Inmates Executed in Isfahan and Qom

Two inmates convicted of drug-related crimes were executed in Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan. Another inmate convicted of murder was executed in Qom Prison.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Haal Vsh, on July 20, 2022, two inmates identified as Dariush Khazai, age about 60, and Mahmood Sadeghian, age 28, were executed in Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan.

Both individuals were arrested and charged with drug-related crimes in 2019.

Haal Vsh also reported that in Birjand Prison, two death-row inmates charged with drug-related crimes were taken to solitary confinement which happens prior to execution. One of the inmates has been identified as Zabihollah Barahooi, age 38.

Iran Human Rights Organization also reported the execution of an inmate identified as Hamed Sarband, age 32, in Birjand Prison, who was convicted of murder.

Four Inmates Executed in Qom, Sari and Shiraz

In recent days, four inmates were executed in Qom, Sari and Shiraz for murder and drug-related crimes.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, last Wednesday, July 6, 2022, an inmate identified as Mehdi Karimi was executed in Sari prison in Mazandaran Province. He had been convicted of murder and was a barber before the arrest.

Moreover, according to Haal Vsh and Iran Human Rights Organization, on Saturday, July 9, 2022, two inmates convicted of drug-related crimes were executed in Qom Prison. These individuals were identified as Mehrollah Rigi, age 42, and Abolfazl Rahmani, age 38.

Iran Human Rights Organization also reported the execution of an inmate identified as Fardin Zekri, age 34, in Adel-Abad Prison in Shiraz. Zekri was arrested about a year ago and accused of murder.

Two Inmates Executed in Zahedan and Zabol

On  July 7, 2022, two inmates convicted of drug-related crimes were executed in Zabol and Zahedan Prison, Sistan and Baluchestan Province.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Haal Vsh, on Thursday, July 7, 2022, an inmate identified as Behzad Narooie, age 33, was executed in Zahedan Prison. Haal Vsh also reported the execution of an inmate identified as Mohammad Shahi, age 48 in Zabol Prison. He was sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court of Zahedan in 2018.

Mohammad Shahi was arrested for a drug-related crime in 2019.

Both inmates were allowed to have their last family visitation one day before the execution.
