Three Inmates Convicted of Drug Crimes Executed at Ghezel Hesar Prison

Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj carried out the execution of three inmates on August 23. The individuals had been sentenced for drug-related offenses.

Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) has identified the inmates as Rahman Ebrahimi, Kiumars Rezaie, and Behrooz Rahmani. Ebrahimi and Rezaie had been serving ten-year sentences, while Rahmani had been imprisoned for three years.

Five Inmates Executed in Qazvin, Kerman, and Kahnuj

On August 21, 2023, the lives of five individuals came to a solemn end yesterday as they were executed in separate incidents across Kerman, Kahnuj, and Qazvin.

According to Haal Vsh, Kerman Prison officials executed three death-row prisoners, identified as Saeed Rigi, approximately 40 years of age, Abdolghafoor Toomaj Turkman, and Amir Rahimi. Three years ago, in two separate cases, they were sentenced to death by the Kerman Revolutionary Court for drug offenses.

Haal Vsh also reported the execution of Rasoul Narui (Narooie), aged 29, in Kahnuj Prison, located in Kerman Province. He had been found guilty of murder four years ago.
Adding to this list of tragic events, Iran Human Rights Organization verified the executions of two more inmates in Qazvin Prison. Jamil Abdollahzadeh, aged 41, and Mehran Amiri, approximately 45 years old, were put to death due to their involvement in drug-related crimes.

Convicted Drug Offender Executed in Ahvaz Prison

On August 21, 2023, an inmate previously convicted of drug-related crimes faced execution within the walls of Sheyban Prison in Ahvaz.

The inmate has been identified by HRANA as Abdolreza Ghalavand. A resident of Andimeshk and a father to a single child, Ghalavand had spent the past decade behind bars.

None of the official sources and media outlets inside the country reported this execution at the time of writing.

HRANA has verified the identity of the individual as Ebrahim Mouloud Pour, who had been imprisoned for five years.

HRANA has identified one of them as Hamed Jamshidi.

Three Inmates Executed in Central Prison of Karaj; Three Others Face Imminent Execution

On August 9, 2023, the Central Prison of Karaj carried out the execution of three inmates who had been convicted of drug-related offenses. Simultaneously, three other death-row inmates were transferred to solitary confinement, heightening concerns about their imminent execution.

Execution of Four Inmates for Drug-Related Charges Takes Place in Hamedan and Shiraz

On Tuesday, August 8, 2023, two inmates, identified as Hossein Nasirian, 40, and Hassan Ali Shakib were executed in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz, as reported by Iran Human Rights Organization.

Nasirian’s conviction dates back three years, while Shakib’s dates back two years.

On the subsequent day, Wednesday, August 9, two more inmates faced execution in Hamedan Prison. Among them, Manuchehr Khazaie, who had been convicted on charges related to drug offenses, met his fate. The second inmate, Ahad Hashemi, whose identity was confirmed by Kurdpa, was also executed.

Execution of Five Inmates in Marand

On August 9, 2023, five inmates, convicted of rape, were executed in Marand, East Azerbaijan province, as reported by Fars News agency.

The Revolutionary and Public Prosecutor of Marand County conveyed that following a thorough legal process, these five individuals who had committed an act of abduction and assault were executed today. The incident had originally been reported on May 21, 2022, when a “woman, accompanied by social emergency personnel, approached the prosecutor’s office in Marand County. She recounted her harrowing experience of being abducted by five unidentified individuals, subsequently taken to the surrounding mountains and subjected to an assault by all five of them.” The individuals were arrested four days later and were subsequently sentenced to death.

As per the report, the identities of the executed inmates have not been disclosed.

One of these inmates has been identified as Abdolghafar Shehiki (Hasehmzahi), a 38-year-old married man and father of two children. He was arrested for drug-related offenses in Kerman two years ago and subsequently sentenced to death by the Kerman Revolutionary Court. The second inmate, an Afghan national, remains unidentified.

In a separate incident, the Iran Human Rights Organization informed about the execution of Jabar Moslemi, aged 35, on August 6, at Choobindar Prison in Qazvin. Moslemi had been arrested and convicted of murder three years ago.
