At Least Seven Prisoners Executed on December 16 Across Iranian Prisons

HRANA – Various prisons continue to witness an unprecedented wave of executions on charges related to murder and drug offenses. This report provides details of some of these executions carried out in recent days.

Today, Wednesday, December 17, a female prisoner named Razieh Abbasi, approximately 40 years old, was hanged in Ghezel Hesar Prison. According to information received by HRANA, Ms. Abbasi had previously been arrested on charges of murdering her husband and was later sentenced to death by a criminal court.
This prisoner, who had been held in Qarchak Prison in Varamin, was recently transferred to Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj for the implementation of her execution sentence.

According to HRANA, on Tuesday, December 16, the death sentences of the following individuals were carried out:

• Mahmoud Din Mohammadi, on charges of murder, in Birjand Prison, South Khorasan province;
• Yazdan Mohammadzadeh, on charges of murder, in Bam Prison, Kerman province;
• Nejat Rajabi, on charges of murder, in Jiroft Prison, Kerman province;
• Keyhan Abbasi, on charges of murder, in Borazjan Prison, Bushehr province;
Ghobad (Qobad) Fathollahi, on charges of murder, in Ilam Prison;
• Ali Mohammad Roshanfekr, on charges of murder, in Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz;
• Ata Shahsavari, on drug-related charges, in Khaf Prison, Razavi Khorasan province.

HRANA also reported that on Sunday, three prisoners were hanged on charges of murder in Yazd Prison. The identities of two of these prisoners, Jasem Seghaei and Khalegh Zolfaghari, have been confirmed by HRANA.

Additionally, a human rights organization reported the execution of a prisoner named Heydar Amiri, 32 years old, on charges of murder on Monday, December 15, in Sabzevar Prison. The organization also reported that on Sunday, Mohammad Rahimi, 50 years old, was executed on drug-related charges in Gorgan Prison.

From the beginning of this year until the end of November, 2025, the Iranian regime has executed 1,594 people, marking an unprecedented increase compared to previous years.

Report on the Execution of Ten Prisoners in Various Prisons

HRANA- In continuation of the unprecedented surge in executions across Iran, over the past two days HRANA has documented the execution of ten more prisoners in different prisons throughout the country.

On Sunday, two prisoners were hanged in Khaf Prison, Razavi Khorasan province. HRANA has identified one of them as Farid Emami. Both individuals had previously been arrested on murder charges and later sentenced to death by the criminal court. Further details, including the identity of the other executed prisoner, are still under investigation by HRANA.

That same day, another prisoner named Mohammad Goudarzi was executed in Borujerd Prison on a murder charge.

HRANA also reported the execution of Moradbeig Turki in Kashan Prison. Mr. Turki had likewise been arrested on murder charges and sentenced to death by the criminal court.

Additionally, Nima Omidi Khas was hanged the same day in Bam Prison. Mr. Omidi Khas had previously been arrested on drug-related charges and sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court.

On Monday, November 10, Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan witnessed the execution of two prisoners convicted on drug-related charges. HRANA has identified one of them as Saeed Shateri.

Also on Monday, an unidentified prisoner was executed in Neyshabur Prison on murder charges.
That same day, Javad Naeimi was executed in Semnan Prison; he had been convicted of murder.
Finally, on Monday, Nourkhoda Ahmadi was executed in Birjand Prison on drug-related charges.

As of the time of this report, the executions of these prisoners have not yet been announced by prison officials or judicial authorities.

Execution of Inmate in Bam Prison

On Tuesday, October 10, Bam Prison in Kerman province bore witness to the execution of an inmate convicted of murder.

The inmate has been identified as Hossein Alizadeh, aged 30, originally from Iranshahr, according to Haal Vsh.

Alizadeh had been sentenced to death a decade ago. Two days prior to his execution, he was transferred to the quarantine section of the prison.

According to data compiled by the Center of Statistics of Human Rights Activists in Iran (HRA), between October 10, 2022, and October 8, 2023, a total of 659 individuals were executed by hanging in Iran, representing a 24% increase compared to the corresponding period in the previous year. Two Inmates Executed in Bam Prison for Drug-Related Charges

On August 13, the Bam Prison officials carried out the execution of two inmates found guilty of drug-related offenses.

HRANA has identified one of them as Hamed Jamshidi.

Despite the occurrence of these executions, no official statements from governmental sources or national media channels within the country have shed light on these incidents.

In 2022, the Department of Statistics and Publication of Human Rights Activists in Iran documented a total of 457 cases involving the death penalty. Among these cases, approximately 43% were associated with drug-related convictions.

Prisoner Dies in Bam Prison for Delayed Medical Care

On August 9, 2022, an inmate died in Bam Prison due to delayed medical care and transfer to the hospital.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Haal Vsh, on August 9, 2022, a prisoner died in Bam Prison after the prison official’s procrastination in sending the inmate to the hospital.

The inmate has been identified as Ahmad Kurd, age 52, a resident of Zahedan.

Eight years ago, he was sentenced to death for drug-related crimes, which was commuted to life imprisonment.

14 Prisoners Executed in a Single Day in Iran

Executions of 5 Prisoners in Bam Prison Postponed for a Week

HRANA News Agency – Execution of 5 prisoners, who were charged with drug related crimes and were sentenced to death, has been postponed for one week in Bam prison.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), on Saturday 3rd January, 5 prisoners in Bam prison, who were charged with drug related crime and were sentenced to death, were transferred to solitary confinement so that on Sunday their sentences would be carried out.
