Faeze Hashemi will be tried again

HRANA News Agency – Faeze Hashemi is going to be tried in the branch 15 of the revolutionary court of Tehran on August 7, 2013.

 

According to a report by Fars News Agency quoting from Gholam Ali Riyahi, Faeze Hashemi’s lawyer, she is going to be tried in the branch 15 of the revolutionary court of Tehran on charge of disturbing the order of the prison when she was serving her 6 months imprisonment sentence in Evin prison. Gita Rezaie was arrested in Kermanshah airport

HRANA News Agency – On June 18, 2013 Gita Rezaie Zeinalani was arrested by security agents in Ashrafi Esfahani airport of Kermanshah while she was going to get in into the airplane to Tehran and was transferred to an unknown location.

Female students banned from engineering fields

HRANA News Agency – New criteria defined for graduate programs ban female students from studying in seven different engineering fields at Isfahan University of Technology.

According to a report by Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA), Isfahan University of Technology will no longer admit female students into graduate  programs to study agricultural engineering with a concentration in irrigation, animal science and machinery.  Female students have also been banned from obtaining masters degrees in natural resources engineering with a concentration in watershed and land management as well as desertification.  Furthermore, the university has adopted a policy to admit only male students to study water resources engineering. A woman was flogged and hanged in Varamin

HRANA News Agency – At least one woman was hanged in Gharchak Prison in Varamin.

According to a report by the Human Rights and Democracy Activists, a woman identified as Giti Marami was hanged in Gharchak Prison on Wednesday morning in Varamin.  Marami, 34, was married and had a daughter.

Mohsen Dogmechi’s wife is called to the prison

HRANA News Agency – The prosecutor of Tehran has called Mohsen Dogmechi ( the political prisoner who died of cancer if Rajai Shahr prison)’s wife to the prison, since the 3 years of prison sentence about her has been confirmed.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Maryam Alangi had been sentenced to 3 years of prison in the section 15 of the revolutionary court of Tehran and the section 36 court of appeal in Tehran confirmed the sentence afterwards.

HRANA News Agency – It is more than one week Jamile Karimi the member of Fars provincial reformists coalition is under arrest and there is no news about her condition.

Nava Na’imi, the Baha’i citizen arrested

HRANA News Agency – A Baha’i citizen from Esfahan has been arrested and transferred to unknown location.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), On February 12th of 2013 Etela’at agents invaded a Nava Na’imis’ house and inspected all her house which is located in Baharestan of Esfahan and took away her computer, books, religious and personal photos, arrested her and transferred to an unknown location.

Anger as Iran bans women from universities

HRANA News Agency – Female students in Iran have been barred from more than 70 university degree courses in an officially-approved act of sex-discrimination which critics say is aimed at defeating the fight for equal women’s rights.

In a move that has prompted a demand for a UN investigation by Iran’s most celebrated human rights campaigner, the Nobel laureate Shirin Ebadi, 36 universities have announced that 77 BA and BSc courses in the coming academic year will be “single gender” and effectively exclusive to men.

A Woman Burned Her Husband With Acid for Polygamy

HRANA News Agency – In retaliation for polygamy, a young woman in Khomein County burned her husband with acid while he slept.

According to a report by the state media in Iran, the young woman has confessed to burning her husband with acid and has further explained to the investigators that she committed this act because her husband took a second wife.

This woman told the police, “My husband met another woman and married her while I knew nothing about it.  Our marital problems began then.  I sought to take my revenge.”

She added, “When my husband came back to see me, I decided to carry on my plan.  I obtained acid, and when he fell sleep, I throw acid into his face.  Because his face and eyes were burning, he woke up screaming with pain and asking for help.”

After her confession, this woman was booked and locked up behind bars.  Investigations into this act of revenge continue.  It has been reported that her husband’s face has burned severely, he was taken to the hospital while he was unconscious.

Iranian Cleric Mohsen Ghara’ati Blames Women Opposing Polygamy

HRANA News Agency – In his weekly televised lessons aired on IRIB Channel 1, Iranian cleric Mohsen Ghara’ati blamed women for opposing polygamy and standing in the way of their husbands who wish to get a second wife.Hojat-ol-Islam Mohsen Ghara’ati is the head of the Center for the Promotion of Prayers and a Muslim scholar teaching and promoting the Quran.

Referring to men who possess the physical strength and the financial means to have a second wife, Mohsen Ghara’ati said, “If a man has the physical power and the financial resources, if he has two cars, two houses, two cell phones, and two of everything, if he can provide two of everything, when it is time for marriage, women say: No!One God; one wife.”

Mohsen Ghara’ati added, “What does this mean?This means the hell with one million women!If they commit sins, the hell with them!If they burn in hell, the hell with them!This is female jealousy.Women’s envy and resentment cause one million other young females to remain widowed.”

At the end of his televised lesson, Mohsen Ghara’ati concluded, “About twenty years ago, Tehran’s Prosecutor told me that there were 500,000 young widows in Tehran.This was 20 years ago.Right now, there are probably one million young widows in Tehran.”
