Three Inmates Executed in Isfahan and Qom

Two inmates convicted of drug-related crimes were executed in Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan. Another inmate convicted of murder was executed in Qom Prison.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Haal Vsh, on July 20, 2022, two inmates identified as Dariush Khazai, age about 60, and Mahmood Sadeghian, age 28, were executed in Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan.

Both individuals were arrested and charged with drug-related crimes in 2019.

Haal Vsh also reported that in Birjand Prison, two death-row inmates charged with drug-related crimes were taken to solitary confinement which happens prior to execution. One of the inmates has been identified as Zabihollah Barahooi, age 38.

Iran Human Rights Organization also reported the execution of an inmate identified as Hamed Sarband, age 32, in Birjand Prison, who was convicted of murder.

The most recent report from the Statistics and Publication Center of the Human Rights Activists  (HRA) states that between January 1 of 2021 and December 20 of 2021, at least 299 citizens, including four juvenile offenders, were executed. In addition, 85 citizens were sentenced to death in this period. 

As the report points out, Iran’s judicial authorities do not publicly announce over 88% of executions. These unreported executions are known as “secret executions” by human rights organizations.

Five Inmates Executed in Adel-Abad and Dastgerd Prisons

On Thursday, May 12, 2022, an inmate who was convicted of murder was executed in Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan. On another occasion, the execution of four inmates convicted of drug-related crimes in Adel-Abad Prison in Shiraz on Sunday, May 14. 

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Iran Human Rights Organization, on Thursday, May 12, 2022, the execution of an inmate identified as Hossein Fartash was carried out in Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan.

According to an informed source: “Hossein Fartash was a 40-year-old welder who was arrested for killing someone over honor issues and later sentenced to death.”

Moreover, on Sunday, May 14, four inmates identified as Ali Pajmordeh, held in the youth ward, Abbas Pajmordeh, Mohammad Gholamhoseini and Ali Hosien-Panah were executed in Adel-Abad Prison.

According to an informed source, Abbas Pajmordeh, Ali Pajmordeh’s uncle, was arrested for smuggling drugs and carrying illegal guns and was jailed for five years.

These executions have not been reported by official sources and media outlets inside Iran so far.

Two Inmates Executed in Isfahan

On Wednesday, April 27, 2022, two inmates who had been convicted for drug-related crimes were executed in Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Kurdpa, two inmates identified as Fakhreddin Waledi, Aged 40 and Hossein Joushan, age 37, were executed in Dastgerd Prison.

In this report, an informed source stated, “Fakhreddin Waledi was arrested four years ago and sentenced to death. Hossein Joushan is a father of a six-year-old child. Five years ago, he was arrested and accused of smuggling crystal meth. Subsequently, he was sentenced to death. In the trial, he denied the allegations and insisted that the drug belonged to someone else who ran away after his arrest.”

None of these executions have been reported by official sources and media outlets inside Iran so far.

Three Inmates Executed in Karaj and Isfahan

On Monday morning, April 11, 2022, an inmate convicted of murder was executed in the Central Prison of Karaj City. Also, on February 14, 2022, the execution of two inmates convicted of drug-related crimes in Dastgerd Prison has been reported.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Parsineh News, on Monday, April 11, an inmate convicted of murder was executed in the Central Prison of Karaj.

Reportedly, in 2013, the inmate was identified with the first name Golmohammad was accused and subsequently confessed to the murder of a man.

The inmate had previously confessed to the murder of a man who had harassed his daughter. 

Since the victim’s family remained unknown, the case was on hold for six years until Branch 1 of the Criminal Court of Alborz began the trial. In the trial, the defendant was found guilty and sentenced to death.

Also, Iran Human Rights reports that on February 14, 2022, two inmates convicted of drug-related crimes were executed in Dastgerd PrIson in Isfahan. These inmates have been identified as Hamid Rastegar, age 34, and Gholamreza Paki, age 45.

According to an informed source in this report, five years ago Gholamreza Paki was arrested for smuggling 100 kilos of methamphetamine and subsequently was sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court. He was married and the father of a nine-year-old child.

Eight Inmates Executed in Adel-Abad, Rajai-Shahr and Dastgerd Prisons  

Last Sunday and Wednesday, eight inmates were executed in Adel-Abad, Rajai-Shahr and Dastgerd prisons.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Iran Human Rights Organization, last Sunday, four inmates who had been previously convicted for drug-related crimes were executed in Adel-Abad prison in Shiraz.

Two of the executed inmates have been identified as Jamshid Fadai and Hossein Mehrabani, age 37.

Iran Human Rights Organization also reported the execution of an inmate of Afghan origins, identified with the first name of Zobeyd, in Dastgerd prison of Isfahan on Wednesday, March 16.

On the same day, three inmates were executed in Rajai-Shahr prison in Karaj. These inmates were identified as Gholamali Khargir, Abbas Khargir and Mohsen Jondaghi and had been convicted of murder during an armed robbery twenty years ago.

Two Inmates Executed in Dastgerd and Zanjan Prisons

On the morning of March 2, an inmate convicted for drug-related crimes was executed in Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan City. On February 28, an inmate convicted for murder was executed after carrying out flogging in Zanjan Prison.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting the Iran Human Rights Organization, the inmate executed in Dastgerd was identified as Akbar Shahsavand, age 36. He was convicted for drug-related crimes four years ago.

The inmate executed in Zanjan Prison was identified as Morad Saleh-Beyg, about 45 years old. He was executed after flogging. Five years ago, he was sentenced to death and 74 lashes for committing murder.

These executions have not been announced by judicial authorities or reported by media inside Iran.

Inmate Executed in Dastgerd Prison

On Wednesday, February 16, an inmate convicted for murder was executed in Dastgerd Prison.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, the inmate was identified as Kazem Yousefi, age 40.

According to an informed source, he was imprisoned in Khomeini-Shahr Prison, but 15 days ago was transferred to Dastger Prison, where he was executed.

The execution has not been announced by judicial authorities or reported by media inside Iran.

At Least Eight Inmates Executed this week in Multiple Prisons, Including Qom, Kermanshah and Isfahan

This week, at least eight inmates were executed in multiple prisons, including Qom, Kermanshah and Isfahan.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Iran Human Rights, two inmates were executed in Kermanshah Prison on Monday, October 11, four inmates were executed in Isfahan on Tuesday, and two others were executed in Qom Prison on Wednesday.

Two inmates who had been convicted of murder were executed in Diezl-Abad Prison in Kermanshah on Monday, October 11. One of the inmates has been identified as 23-year-old Muhammad Latifi. The report suggests that it is likely more inmates were executed on that day than have been confirmed.

Iran Human Rights also has reported the execution of four inmates in Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan. These inmates had been convicted for drug-related crimes.

In another report, on Wednesday, October 13, two inmates, convicted of murder, were executed in Qom Central Prison. One of the inmates has been identified as Ali Amrollahi, a native of Afghanistan. He has been imprisoned since four years ago when he was convicted of “honor killing”.

As the report points out, Iran’s judicial authorities do not publicly announce over 82% of carried-out executions, dubbed as “secret executions” by human rights organizations.

None of these executions have been announced by official sources in Iran as of this writing.

 

Inmate Hanged in Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan

On Monday, October 13, an inmate who had previously been sentenced to death on a charge of murder was executed in Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, the executed inmate has been identified as Ismail Ghassabi.

The most recent report of the Statistics and Publication Center of the Human Rights Activists in Iran (HRA) states that between October 8 of 2020 and October 9 of 2021, at least 266 citizens were executed and 90 citizens were sentenced to death.

As the report points out, Iran’s judicial authorities do not publicly announce over 82% of carried-out executions, dubbed as “secret executions” by human rights organizations.

Ghassabi’s execution has not been announced by official sources in Iran as of this writing.

Six Inmates Executed in Shiraz, Two More Executed in Isfahan

On Tuesday October 1, six inmates were executed in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz. The previous day, two additional inmates were executed in Isfahan.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, the prisoners had previously been sentenced to death on charges ranging from drug-involvement to murder.

HRANA has identified the name of the four above-mentioned inmates as follows: Rasul Akrami, Omid Keshtkar, Meysam Atef-fard, Hadi Razi. In addition, in the last few days, Mostafa Ostowari, convicted for murder, was transferred to a solitary confinement cell in order to be executed, reportedly tomorrow on Saturday.

As an update to the news about the execution of Abbas-Gholi Salehi in Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan, HRANA has confirmed that on September 29, two other inmates were also executed. Muhammad Bar-Ahooie, an Afghan, and Hamid Shahsenai were executed for drug-related crimes.

Iran ranks first in the world in executions per capita, according to international organizations. The Statistics and Publication Center of the Human Rights Activists in Iran (HRA) reported that between January 1 and December 20 of 2020, at least 236 citizens were executed.

None of the above executions have been announced by any Iranian media or official sources.
