HRANA News Agency – PEN Canada, called for the unconditional freedom of Mustafa Azizi, Canadian writer and filmmaker.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), PEN Canada, in a statement demanded the unconditional prohibition of the pursuit, and this Canadian citizen’s release from prison in Iran. The Board, in accordance with Article 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, has urged the Iranian authorities to release Mustafa Azizi, who has only expressed his ideas in a peaceful way.
Mr Azizi is going to have a trial on 1^st June, on charges of propaganda against the regime, gathering and collusion with the aim of acting against the national security, insulting the leadership and insulting the founder of the Islamic Republic, at Branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court, presiding by Judge Salvati.
Mustafa Azizi, a prominent writer and TV producer, was arrested on 1^st February 2015, and was transferred to solitary confinement in ward 2A in Evin prison. After spending 33 days in jail in ward 2A, under the management of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, in early March, he was transferred to ward 8, Hall 7 of Evin Prison.
It is to say that Mr. Azizi is Canadian citizen and he had traveled to Iran to visit his family, and a month after returning home, he was arrested by the security forces.
Mostafa Azizi, is a writer and former producer of television programs in Iran, who in 1990s and 2000s had produced; “Talash”, a TV show, and “Mosafer va rahe bepayan” a TV series, which were of popular television programs.
Azizi is a member of ASIFA International and for four years he was CEO of ASIFA in Iran.
