Eight Street Booksellers Arrested by Security Police of NAJA

On Saturday, October 2, Tehran’s Security Police of NAJA arrested eight street booksellers for allegedly selling illegal books.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting IBNA, the police confiscated some of the books.

One of the members of the Workgroup for Protecting the Rights of Publishers and Booksellers called these detained booksellers “distributors of illegal and smuggled books”.

The member claimed that part of these confiscated books is the works of the supporters of the restoration of the monarchy in Iran as well as illegal books and unpermitted hard copies of bestselling books.

Citizen Arrested by Security Forces Without a Court Order in Oshnavieh

On Sunday, September 19, Hassan Ghodrati, a native of Oshnavieh in West Azerbaijan Province, was arrested by security forces.

According to the HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Kurdpa, the citizen was transferred to a security detencion center in Urmia following the arrest.

45-year-old Ghodrati is a husband and father of five.

According to the report, security forces arrested him without a court order.

As of this writing, the reasons for the arrest and the charges against him are unknown.

Citizen Detained by Security Forces in Baneh

On September 15, Anvar Rasouli was arrested by security forces in Baneh City in Kurdistan Province.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, Rasouli was transferred to an unknown location following the arrest.

Anvar Rasouli is 45 years old and from Abolhassan village. The report says that Mr. Rasouli was arrested without a court order.

As of this writing, no information is available on the reasons for Rasouli’s detention or the charges against him.

Citizen Detained by Security Forces in Nikshahr

On Tuesday, September 14, a citizen was arrested by security forces in Nikshahr.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting RASANK, after the arrest the citizen was taken to an unknown location.

According to this report, the identity of this citizen is Niaz Mollazehi. Mollazehi is a resident of the village of Mahban in the city of Nikshahr.

No information is available on the reasons for detention, the charges, and the detainee’s whereabouts at the time of writing.

Saeed Fathi Nejad Sentenced to Three Years and 7 Months in Prison

The Revolutionary Court of Mahabad sentenced Saeed Fathi Nejad, a citizen currently detained in Mahabad Prison, to three years and seven months in prison.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Kurdpa, Mr. Fathi Nejad received this sentence on a charge of “membership in an opposition group”.

He was arrested by security forces in mid-June without a court order and was transferred to Mahabad Prison after being interrogated.

28-year-old Saeed Fathi Nejad has been denied access to a lawyer and family visits during his detention.

Two Citizens Detained in Sanandaj and Taken to Unknown Location

On Monday, September 6, two citizens were arrested by security forces in Sanandaj in Kurdistan Province.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Kurdpa, the citizens were taken to an unknown location following their arrest.

The report has identified the detainees as Behrouz Azizi and Rasoul Azizian, both from the village of Mehrab in the Sanandaj area. The reasons for their detention and whereabouts are still unknown.

Azerbaijani Turk Activist Abbas Nikravan Arrested by Security Forces in Salmas

On Sunday, September 5, Azerbaijani Turk activist Abbas Nikravan was arrested by security forces and taken to an unknown location.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, Nikravan is a native  of Salmas in West Azerbaijan Province.

Mr. Nikravan has a history of detention. He was arrested in July 2018, during the annual gathering of Babak Castle, and was released on bail a week later.

As of this writing, no information is available on the reasons for his detention, the charges against him, or his whereabouts.

Citizen Detained by Security Forces Without Court Order in Piranshahr

Salah Osmani was arrested by security forces on Tuesday, August 17, and taken to an unknown location.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, 44-year-old Osmani is a resident of the village of Kharapeh in Piranshahr in West Azerbaijan Province,

The report states that Mr. Osmani was arrested without a court order.

As of this writing, the reasons for the arrest and Osmani’s whereabouts are unknown.
