List 5: Male Prisoners Charged with Moharebeh with Sentences under 15 Years

HRANA News Agency – According to the changes related to Moharebeh (waging war against god) in the New Islamic Penal Code, those who have been convicted of Moharebeh based on the previous penal code, will now have the possibility for a retrial, commutation and release. Currently tens of prisoners in Iranian prisons are convicted of Moharebeh for different reasons, this includes at least 22 male prisoners who are sentenced under 15 years of imprisonment. The following is the fifth list published in regards to “Prisoners Convicted of Moharebeh” and is dedicated to this 22 male prisoners.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), there are currently at least twenty two male prisoners in Iranian prisons who have been convicted of Moharebeh for different reasons and have been sentenced under 15 years of imprisonment. Since 2013, According to the changes in regards of Moharebeh in the new Islamic Penal Code, these prisoners could apply for retrial. Many of them could receive commutations and reach their release soon and considering the long prison terms of some of them, it could provide them the possibility of being release. (more…)

The New Islamic Penal Code Is Not Being Completely Enforced

HRANA News Agency – Some important parts of the new Islamic Penal Code which could help the inmates have illegally not been enforced yet.

According to the researches of HRANA in this matter, one of the very important issues is the new definition of “Muharebeh” (Enmity against God) which could end to the freedom of some prisoners or halting their death sentences. (more…)

A political prisoner on hunger strike in Bandar Abbas prison

HRANA News Agency- Hassan Javani, an elder and sick political prisoner in Bandar Abbas, went on hunger strike in protest at his living condition in prison since 10 days ago.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), ten days ago, this 57 year old political prisoner in Bandar Abbas prison who is suffering from heart problems, prostate and hemorrhoid, was transferred in Bandar Abbas Central prison from ward 12 to ward 2 which is populous and has a poor sanitary condition, and went on hunger strike. A political prisoner transferred to solitaries of Bandar Abbas Prison

HRANA News Agency – Hassan Javani, the aged and sick prisoner of central prison of Bandar Abbas, was transferred to suit number 5 of the prison.

 

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), this 57 years old prisoner of Bandar Abbas prison, who is suffering from heart disease, prostate and hemorrhoid problem, has been transferred to suit number 5 of the prison, on April 1. (more…)

The latest list of the political prisoners in the Evin prison

HRANA News Agency – There are more than 206 political prisoners in the 350 and women’s sections of the Evin prison. This includes both who have definite sentences and those who are under temporary arrest.

Although the section 350 is one of the public sections of the Evin prison, the prisoners there are prevented from their basic rights like telephone contact or meeting their families.
