A Poet and a Writer Arrested in Iran

HRANA News Agency – Shahriar Galavani, writer, translator and literature critic, was arrested by security forces in his house in Khoy on January 4, 2018. On the other hand, Mohammad Bam, poet from Abadan, was also arrested after attending protests in Abadan.

Imprisonment Sentences of Two Activists Upheld by Appeals Court

HRANA News Agency – The primitive court verdict for Ghasem Ghanbari and Mir Mohammad Miri, two political activists from the village of Dale in Gachsaran District, who had been previously sentenced to two years of imprisonment and lashes on charges of propaganda against the regime and insulting the leadership, was upheld by the third branch of the Court of Appeals in Kohkiluyeh and Bouyer Ahmad Province. The verdict was announced to the defendants recently.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), the two-year imprisonment sentence for Ghasem Ghanbari and Mir (Sayed) Mohammad Miri, which had been previously issued by the Gachsaran Revolutionary Court, was confirmed by the Appeals Court. Reza Akwaniyan Sentenced to Imprisonment and Lashes

HRANA News Agency – Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court in Tehran sentenced Reza Akwaniyan, poet and civil activist, to 3 years of imprisonment and 40 lashes for insulting the sacred by compiling poetry and propaganda against the regime. Mr. Akwanian had already been sentenced to 5 years suspended imprisonment and spent one year in jail.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Judge Mashallah Ahmadzadeh, head of Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court in Tehran sentenced Reza Akwaniyan, poet and civil activist, to 3 years of imprisonment and 40 lashes. Mohammad Mehdi Nekounam Arrested in Qom

HRANA News Agency – Security forces went to house of Mohammad Mehdi Nekounam, son of Ayatullah Nekounam, critical cleric, and inspected the house and arrested him on October 27, 2017.

Vahid Pour Tahmaseb Sentenced to 11 Years of Imprisonment

HRANA News Agency – Vahid Pour Tahmaseb, follower of Mohammad Ali Taheri, has been sentenced to 11 years imprisonment, according to the verdict given to him in the Revolutionary Court of Babol on October 4, 2017.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Vahid Pour Tahmaseb was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment on charges of “membership in the group and the population with the aim of disrupting the security of the country” and 1 year imprisonment on charge of “advertising activity in favor of opposition groups” according to the verdict which was notified to on October 4, 2017. Comprehensive Report: Seven Days of Protests in Iran

HRANA -The Center of Statistics at Human Rights Activists in Iran (HRAI) has published a report regarding the recent seven days of protests in Iran which occurred from December 28, 2017 to January 03, 2018. Currently, we have reports on the extent of the protests and the names of arrested individuals as of January 09, 2018.

At the time of compiling this report, the Iranian State had not provided a conclusive report of the protests and it’s under currents. Therefore, this report should be deemed as a cursory review and a collection of the reports of the events rather than a singularly comprehensive one. Seven days in the month of Dey; The initial brief report of the first week of protests in Iran

HRANA – The Center of Statistics at Human Rights Activists in Iran (HRAI) has published this report regarding the recent seven days of protests in Iran which occurred from December 28, 2017 to January 3, 2018.

At the time of the compilation of this report, there are still protests occurring in parts of Iran. As a result, this report does not provide the most comprehensive outlook possible of the recent protests in Iran and is solely focused on the first seven days of protests. 2 Killed in Dorud / Preparations in Evin Prison to Receive More Prisoners

HRANA News Agency – The authorities, in addition to informing the two deaths in Dorud conflicts, gradually provided more information about hundreds of arrested people in the national protests on fourth days of the popular protests in various cities of Iran. At the same time, it is reported from Evin prison that prison authorities had prepared a certain place for accepting a large number of detainees by evacuating the halls of prison.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Evin prison authorities have considered a certain place for keeping the detainees in recent days through evacuating the quarantine of ward 4 of the prison, which has a capacity of 180 people. The 6th Day of Iranian People’s Protests in Different Cities

HRANA News Agency – People’s protests have been going on since December 28 and continues after six days. There were demonstrations in at least 11 cities of Iran on Tuesday January 2, 2018. Although major protests were held peacefully, reports were also received about the conflicts between police forces and protesters that led to the arrest and wounding of citizens. State resources have reported that the number of deaths in recent days has been estimated at 21.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), on the sixth day of the popular protests that began on the pretext of economic and administrative corruption, demonstrations continued in many Iranian cities. Many Arrested, 16 Killed by the End of the 5th Day of the Protests in Iran

HRANA News Agency – The mass-protests which began on December 28, 2017, continued on the fifth day in various cities of Iran. At least 21 cities in Iran were the scene of popular protests on December 28, 2017. Although the major protests were held peacefully but some reports were also received from the conflicts between the police forces and protesters that led to the arrest and wounding of citizens. So far, government sources have confirmed 16 deaths, at least two of whom were the Basij or Corps forces, as well as the arrest of about 450 people. HRANA estimates a much higher number especially with regard to the detainees.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), the rallies which have begun on the pretext of economic and administrative corruption, continued in many Iranian cities on the fifth day of the protests.
