Four Inmates Executed in Prisons in Shiraz, Rasht and Kerman

Four inmates were recently executed in Adel-Abad Prison in Shiraz, Lakan Prison in Rasht and Kerman Prison.

On Thursday, November 18, two inmates who had been convicted of murder were executed in Lakan Prison in Rasht city, and another inmate who had previously been sentenced to death on drug-related charges was executed in Kerman Prison.

Additionally, last Sunday, November 14, an inmate who was previously convicted of murder was executed in Adel-Abad Prison in Shiraz City.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Iran Human Rights Organization, Mostafa Asadpur and Mojtaba Bagheri, 35 and 40 years old respectively, were executed in Lakan Prison in Rasht.

“The prison officials announced that the executions will be carried out next Saturday but they executed them today on Thursday,” the report quoted from an informed source.

The Baloch Activists Campaign reports that Shams-e-din Gholjai the resident of Zahden was executed in Zahedan Prison.

In another report, Maarouf Gholipur, who was 41 years old and a resident of Kazerun City, was executed in Adel-Abad Prison in Shiraz.

The most recent report of the Statistics and Publication Center of the Human Rights Activists in Iran (HRA) states that between October 8 of 2020 and October 9 of 2021, at least 266 citizens, three of whom were juvenile offenders, were executed and 90 citizens were sentenced to death.

As the report points out, Iran’s judicial authorities do not publicly announce over 82% of executions. These unreported executions are known as “secret executions” by human rights organizations.

None of these executions have been reported by official sources in Iran as of this writing.

Three workers, Including a Child, Killed in Zahedan Due to Unsafe Conditions; One Worker Injured in Shiraz

In recent days, in Zahedan, three workers, including a child, died in a work accident. In Shiraz, one additional worker was injured. Iran ranks 102nd in workplace safety out of 189 countries.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Rokna, on Thursday, October 7, a worker was injured severely at the workplace. A young worker’s hand stuck between a trolley and wall lift while moving items to the top floor of the store. After firefighters freed his hand, the emergency response team transferred him to the hospital.

According to Baloch Campaign, In Zahedan, on Tuesday, October 5, three workers, one of whom was a minor, lost their lives while digging a well due to falling well walls.

Two of these workers have been identified as  16-year-old Naser Ghanbarzehi and Musa Ghanbarzehi.

A Daily Overview of Human Rights Violations in Iran for February 9, 2019

The following is an overview of human rights violations in Iran on February 9th, 2019 based on the information compiled and verified by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA).

(1) Two workers were injured in Tehran and Alborz provinces and one worker was killed in Kurdistan province because of negligence in the oversight of safety conditions in their workplaces. Iran ranked 102 in the workplace safety among other countries.

(2) In an open letter, Anvar Khezri, Kurdish Sunni political prisoner in Rajaee Shahr prison, explained the torture, abuse, mistreatment, and the agony he has endured throughout his nine years in prison since 2009.

(3) Isa Azari, Sunni cleric, was arrested on Wednesday February 6th, 2018 in Urmia and transferred to an unknown place. Also, two detained citizens of Piranshahr, Shirko Ali-Mohammadi and Kamal Azad Davar were released on bail.

(4) Along with the mass arrest of the citizens in Khuzestan, four others were arrested in the last three days. Mostafa Shater Al-Kathir, Saeed Fazel Manabi, Salman Obiyat, and Abbas Hojjati were arrested and transferred to an unknown place.

(5) After the coast guards opened fire to a fishing boat suspecting she contains smuggled fuel, a Baloch fisher sailor, Walid Mallahi, was killed in Hormozgan province. The police force kills dozens of Baloch citizens in the southern provinces annually.

(6) Several Baloch Basij members were arrested with ties to the attack on a Basij paramilitary base in Nikshahr carried out on February 2nd in which one was killed and five others were injured.

(7) The attorney of Kiyumars Marzban, author and satirist, confirmed that the court session date for his client has been set on March 4th, 2019. His charges are “propaganda against the state” and “insulting the sacred”.

(8) An 11-year-old girl was married off to a 50-year-old man as his second wife in Ilam. The bride’s father received 1500 dollars in return. In the last nine months, 98 child marriages were registered in Ilam.

(9) Hamzeh Darvish and Tohid Ghoreishi, Sunni political prisoners of Rajaee Shahr prison, are on a hunger strike from Wednesday. They are in a poor physical health and are denied medical care after being beaten and held in solitary confinement cells.

A Daily Overview of Human Rights Violations in Iran for January 30, 2019

The following is an overview of human rights violations in Iran on January 30th, 2019 based on the information compiled and verified by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA).

(1) More than five protests were organized across the country on January 30, 2019. The workers of Ahvaz inter-city rail, taxi drivers in Bukan, the customers of SAIPA and IranKhodro companies, the environmental activists in Behbahan, and the employees of Railway Services and Technical Construction Engineering Company (RSTC), have held separate protests to request their demands.

(2) A 27-year old was tried in absentia and sentenced to three years in prison and 74 lashes for “stealing a chicken” in Laly city in Khuzestan province.

(3) A retired teacher, Alireza Kafaei, was arrested in Gachsaran on January 29, 2019. The leader of Islamic Association of Teachers of Gachsaran is suffering from diabetes and severe heart disease. He was released on bail earlier today.

(4) Three Kulbars (Kurdish back carrier) died or were injured in Salmas and Baneh. Saman Salehi and Mohammad Karimi were killed after the Iranian border patrol opened fire to a group of Kulbars. Another Kulbar, Sammy Rashidi, was injured in another accident.

(5) A prisoner was executed in Noor prison on the charge of murder. Two prisoners, Hashem Badrkhani and Houshang Hosseini who were accused of murder, were spared from hanging on gallows by consent of next of kin in Bandar Abbas.

(6) Jafar Azimzadeh was transferred to Evin prison to serve his six years prison sentence. Azimzadeh and Parvin Mohammadi, the members of the Free Union of workers in Iran, were arrested on January 29.

(7) Three poachers have been arrested in Ghomishloo National Park in the Najafabad county in Isfahan province.

(8) The court was in session for eight environmentalists in Tehran without their lawyers on the espionage-related charges. Moreover, five of the detained environmental activists were charged with “corruption on earth”.

(9) A Baloch citizen, Yousef Shahouzehi, was arrested for an unknown reason in Nik Shahr county in Sistan and Baluchestan. His whereabouts is still unknown.

(10) Keyvan Bazhan, a writer and member of the Iranian Writers Association, was released on bail. He was arrested along with two other writers, Baktash Abtin and Reza Khandan Mehrabadi on January 22 on the charge of “encouraging immorality or prostitution”.

(11) Five senior managers of North Khorasan University of Medical Science were flogged on financial-related charges in this university. The head of North Khorasan Justice department confirmed that and added that the court cases fillings have been increasing by 14 percent in the last ten months.

(12) Hassan Hassanzadeh and Hassan Peyghami were released from Urmia prison after completing their prison sentences. They were sentenced to two-year prison term in exile on the charge of “cooperation with the opposition groups” and “acting against national security”.

(13) The school’s roof collapsed due to rains in Pashbard village in Sardasht county in the West Azerbaijan province. Students temporarily use a “conex [shipping container] school “.

(14) The head of Hamadan Mental Health Department & Prevent announced the launch of a campaign to end violence against women such as preventing domestic violence.

(15) The workers of Sisakht municipality in the Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province have two months of unpaid wages. In addition, more than half a million construction workers are not covered by insurance in Iran.

(16) An authority of Farhangian University, Mansour Nikpanah, confirmed the teacher shortage of 14 thousand in Sistan and Baluchestan province.

(17) Six police officers appeal of death penalty conviction was accepted by the Supreme Court. They have been indicted on a murder charge in the killing of three young men.
